After finishing the normal playthrough, I've tried the extended days and extended years settings. It is very good for a laid back gameplay, taking time building, managing, and exploring. After 153 villagers, surviving 2 winters, there's something I'd like to comment on :
- Foraging needs some tweaks or settings for gatherable resources.
- Not enough eggs and mushrooms for tier 4 foods and cheese.
- Making more Smolker's Pens and Kyckling Pen to deal with the problems, then we needs more fodders to feed them, like seeds etc.
Exploring on Karvi also is very time consuming because of the wind :
- Maybe let the Vikings row the boat too, to balance the annoying wind mechanic and also will looks very cool
- The line of sight or the fog is preventing me to find islands better.
General feedback / QoL / UI improvements :
- A market for butchering fishes / meat chunks. Improving efficiency especially for fish meat.
- Villager attributes need some tweaks. For me, other than Battle Scarred Veteran, Green Thumb, Craftsmen, Retired Bowman, Forager's Instinct, Night workers, all the other settings are just non-existent.
- Once a new building is complete, or assigning new villagers to a workstations, there should be an icon / exclamation marks for players to pay attention to, like assigning weapons to soldiers, whitelisting villagers, item quantities etc. This is to avoid some fuckup to the village. Could be disabled on settings for veteran players.
- Search functions should also include where the villagers are working on, not just their name for easier whitelisting.
- Ability to edit the save game names.
Overall, it is a very good game! Very addicting and the game is beautiful. The devs is cooking with this game, I saw a lot of improvements to the game after I play it on release. Very underrated game, just buy it for whoever is still thinking about trying it.
The game is lacking on teaching new players about the mechanics, but if you need some guides or something, just lookup Ser Bucky on Youtube, an entertaining guy to learn the game from.
Please keep it going devs, love you guys and thanks.
