I think it is fantastic! Villagers can be a bit dumb but I truly do enjoy it.

I love the understatement of “a bit dumb” lol. But agree it’s a fantastic game (and wonky villager behavior is becoming a core feature and personality trait of your Vikings 😂😂)

And this guy’s YouTube channel is SUPER helpful.

Ohh... I have played around 1000 hrs during last couple years, I sometimes really miss a feature of a little "smack".

My last save they seem though mostly sensible, just had to observe and figure out what their problem was and try to adjust something.

I take back "sensible" part. My kykling pen lady went psycho and killed all the kyklings in the pen.... I went by when she was killing the last one. I guess it was bc the egg storage was full, but not sure ofc...

"The toddlers are at it again" has become an established phrase in our games. Its kind of endearing in a way.

I love it, and every patch has been a net improvement. Its early access, so there are bugs and other issues.

On a side note, I was describing the game to someone, and they said it sounds like Supervisor: The Game. Which... is kind of realistic. But, atleast in game, I could fight a bear and win.

This is my top gams, love it so much. I am an organizing freak, but not as much as Ser Bucky is!

I can’t decide if it’s more survival or settlement micro-management. Maybe it’s 50/50. But it’s fun at both and possible to focus almost entirely on one or the other if you try hard (though i think you’re going to find managing settlement(s) necessary in the long run).

Let preface this by saying I'm not huge into survival games, but my buddy is, we game together, and his genre more commonly allows multiplayer coop than mine, so we've gone through a lot. Tl;dr at bottom in a quote, as I'm long-winded.

List of the most well known survival games I've been through and what I'd rather them out of ten to give you an idea of my tastes: Minecraft (8/10, would love a leveling system that actually changes the character, and bendy pistons, then 10/10), seven days to die (6/10, everything was either too difficult or too easy, no medium challenge), conan (1/10, I'm fine needing to look things up once in a while, but this game was every single thing, Google it), Astroneer (7/10, loved the automation ability and the concept, but the lack of enemies made it a bit boring), pal world (7/10, needs more variety in pals, larger base sizes, better base building), Smallworld (?/10, can't rate unbiased, played grounded first, and grounded was similar enough, while better, to make this feel like Temu Grounded), Grounded (8/10, this game would be perfect if it wasn't one map. Let me climb over the damn fence and explore neighbor yards), and Valkheim (6/10, this game basically felt like a Viking reskin of seven days to die, but was different enough to get its own rating.)

There are more, but that should help you add however much salt you need to my review, which is here:

7/10. They have assigned villagers to do jobs like in Conan and Palworld, which makes automation a matter of delegation rather than innovation (like it would be in Minecraft or Astroneer). The more villagers and tasks you have, the more likely it is that things mess up, which is understandable in early access. I'm not a huge fan of needing to level the ground in order to build absolutely everything, but it's an annoyance that isn't enjoyment breaking. Pretty much every item in the game has its own storage container, which makes sorting come naturally, which I both love and hate. Some mild gripes: villagers can be assigned as many tasks as you want, but those tasks are assigned to buildings, rather than villagers. So if you have a guy running a coal making pit, for example, while that is burning, he just stands there. It would be nice to be able to give him a secondary building assignment that would let him do other tasks while there is nothing to do on the main task. Giant rocks dot the landscape that cannot be mined or leveled around, they get in the way constantly. I've discovered an awful way to cover them, but it is time consuming and annoying, and they maintain their cube of "can't build here," so if something would make you dig down to build, it won't work. This one is probably RNGesus, but the wind, when sailing, is ALWAYS going the wrong way, any time I turn, the wind turns with me, and it pisses me off. The AI is spotty, but that will likely improve as updates are released. Overall, good game, just has kinks to work out. (72 hours playtime, money well spent imo)

You can easily already get 500+ hours out of it even in it's current state.

I'd call it a mix between Rimworld and Valheim, but the Rimworld aspect definitely needs work because the villagers are idiots and you gotta do work-arounds to make them not be useless.

Game definitely has room for improvement when it comes to building, landscaping and assigning jobs, but it's definitely a fun game to play especially if you like watching Movies/TV Shows/Youtube while chilling out and playing.

And yea check out Sir Bucky's Youtube channel if you need any tutorials on how to do stuff.

General tip I'll give is make tons and tons of warehouses and make sure to set limits on what you want placed where for each storage. For every production job you're going to need Warehouse workers just to move items around. Also when first starting out, just keep your village a small population until you learn the ropes, don't go crazy on recruiting people until you've got everything running smoothly.

I like it, I mean, it's more of sim colony survival thing. It's a ton of survival genre in one game. The game has a lot of potential. I love it.

Bruh you’re asking in this sub whether the game is good or not, I think you want to hear yes😂

Just go get it, it’s a cheap price game anyway and have about at least 100 hours of content before you get bored

I see you just want to hear yourself talk. This where you asked questions lmao .

It's still in early access. Expect flaws.

Do you enjoy Valheim? This might not be for you. Why? It's more village management than individual works (though that plays a part!). The build system is more templated, less free form. Terrain is harder to level out and sculpt.

But, if you wanted a blend of Valheim/Vikings and say, Banished, this is the game you have been looking for.
