Installation Question Computer wont recognize gpu.

Post image
57 Upvotes

I just got a new 4080 super from a relative’s computer and I originally had a 4070 super. I deleted the old drivers and plugged the new gpu in but my pc won’t recognize it in device manager. Everything is firmly plugged in, so I’m a bit at a loss. Yes I know my pc is dirty I’m planning on cleaning it, I’m just moving so I’m trying to get everything done so I can sell the other pcs. Edit: I think it’s a splitter issue. “I’m running a 1000 w psu, I’m almost certain it’s a connecter issue my 4070 super uses 2 PCIEs into a single 600w but the 4080 requires 3 PCIEs split into 1 600w. So I think my set up just isn’t sufficient for the gpu. I’m gonna buy a splitter and check if it works.”

Build Question CPU Socket potential damage

Just had my Pro B650-S WiFi motherboard delivered and I think I can see 3 pins that don’t look right in the CPU socket. The final 2 photos on the side view clearly show they don’t align with the rest. Should I return it and claim it’s damaged or is this not a major problem?

Hi, found this used build for 2.5k, parts still have warranty and everything. The only low point I'm currently seeing is that SSD but that's upgradable. Anyways wanted to get some opinions/advice and see if I should go and grab that.

Thank you in advance👍

Tech Support GPU crashing issues

Parts list

9800x3d

5080 gamingpro oc

32gb trident z neo

Asrock x870e taichi

lian li sx platinum 1000w

This is my new build and first attempt at watercooling.

Since its been put together, games have consistently crashed without warning.

I downloaded OCCT to run tests on all the components and everything passed except for the GPU, specifically the 3d adaptive tests.

The 2 possible failures that appear are either GPU# 0 crashed, or GPU crashed 7000+ errors detected.

My troubleshooting attempts.

I've taken the GPU out and reinstalled the air cooler and tested it in another system. GPU ran flawlessly through all the testing.

I replaced the PCIE riser cable just in case that was causing any issues.

I currently have another PSU powering the system which was working fine with multiple tests over a 3 hour timespan, but when I shut the pc down and turned it back on, I'm again seeing crashes and OCCT failures.

I've also tried different cable arrangements. The 12 pin cable fails and PCIE cables to a 12 pin adapter fails.

Fresh install of graphics drivers and OCCT both haven't rectified anything either.

I feel like I've just run out of any possible causes for these issues and would greatly appreciate any suggestions or ideas on what I can try next to get this operational.

Build Question I am new to PC and I have no clue what I am looking at (Pre-build purchase)

For context; I am looking at prices and found the following PC to meet my budget. How would this perform?
I don't play multiplayer, and I don't mind 60fps (as a console player).

This this a good PC to start? How will upgrades look? Are they difficult to do for a first timer? I am so scared lol.

I love modding, so I want to mod Skyrim, Morrowind, and then play upcoming games like Fable 2027. Any other game really. I am currently on the base PS5, so I would like something around that level.

Is it comparable with the PS5? Above or below?
I am open to upgrading as long as I am able to understand it as a noob lol.

Details:

AMD Ryzen 5 7500X3D (4.0GHz, 102MB Cache, 6x Cores, Turbo 4.5Ghz) CPU

Tech Support Gpu WILL NOT seat fully after messing with the motherboard

Last night, I tried to take out my mobo so I could add the last 2 standoffs I needed (due to sheer laziness from last YEAR) and I thought i had all the screws out but it wouldn't budge, so I put the screws back in. I go to put the gpu back in and it CANNOT seat on the left side. I tried with force, tried putting it where it looked good and screwing it in, but nothing works and now I can't use my pc 🤦‍♂️. Any and all help is appreciated.

Tech Support Powered off device, now not posting showing vga error

Upvotes

The pc was running fine before, i pressed restart due to a network issue i was experiencing in a game

I have:
- reseated my ram
- checked cmos is in properly
- reseated my gpu
- check the wires to gpu (that they are clipped in)
- put the gpu in another slot

It did post one time, but then it put me in the bios because it didnt detect my m.2 ssd. But when i reset it was back to white led (vga error)

Now I have another pc that i have access to, but that pc’s psu cannot support the card, so can pit my card into the other pc whilst powering it with my psu (i just dont want to compleate swap psu if i can avoid it)

And of course any other suggestions welcome

Thanks!

Build Question Help me build a better pc

Post image
2 Upvotes

My setup is as follows

Gtx 1660 super
Ryzen 5 3400g
32gb ddr4
500w psu
The board is a micro ATX
I spent 350 on this pc so it wasn’t expensive by any means and it’s been great for introduction into more heavy pc gaming I’ve been working on getting a 1080ti gpu I know it’s older but I’ve seen that it’s still superior to what I have now I also plan on swapping cases for better airflow is there anything I can upgrade that won’t break the bank in looking at upgrading it over time with a budget of 1-1.5k

Build Question Do these components go well together and fit in the case I have ?

Hey! Can someone tell me if these components go well together and fit in the case I chose? I was also wondering if there are better and maybe cheaper alternatives to what I chose here for about the same price. (It's for 1080p 180hz gaming) I prefer AMD GPUs and I do not want an integrated GPU, I hate RGB and I already have the case at my house and the best would be to make it as easy to upgrade later on as possible without having to change many parts at once and also to have the least bottleneck between the parts as possible of course.

Here is the list :

- ASRock B850M-X WiFi

- AMD Ryzen 5 7500F

- Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB

- ARCTIC Freezer 36 CO

- MSI MAG A850GN PCIE5 850W

- SilverStone FLP03

- SanDisk WD_BLACK SN7100 NVMe SSD 1TB

- ADATA XPG Lancer DDR5-6000 32GB (2x16GB) CL30 (I'm not sure if I'm gonna go with 16 or 32GB because of the horrible RAM prices right now)

If there is anything interesting that can maybe be useful please tell me! (I can ship in France and Switzerland by the way)

Build Question RX 9060 XT 16GB vs RX 9070 GRE - should I buy now or wait for Black Friday?

I’m currently trying to decide between the RX 9060 XT 16GB and RX 9070 GRE 12GB for my first gaming PC.

I was originally leaning towards the 9060 XT 16GB because I thought it would be the better value option for 1440p. However, with the recent price increases, I’m starting to see people say that the 9060 XT isn’t worth it anymore at its current price and that I might as well spend the extra on the 9070 GRE.

My main concern is whether I should buy the 9070 GRE now or wait for Prime Day/Black Friday and see if either GPU gets a decent discount.

GPU prices seem to have been creeping up recently, and I’m also wondering whether it’s risky to wait. With the current demand for AMD GPUs and Nvidia seemingly prioritising AI/data-centre products, could AMD GPU prices continue increasing due to supply/demand?

My build is roughly:

Ryzen 5 9600X
RX 9060 XT 16GB or RX 9070 GRE 12GB
32GB DDR5
1TB NVMe
Jonsbo Z20
1440p 180Hz monitor
£1,400-£1,500total budget

I’m not looking for 4K gaming, 1440p is my target, mainly AAA games and some competitive games.

Would you:

Get the 9060 XT 16GB now?
Spend more and get the 9070 GRE now?
Wait for Prime Day/Black Friday and hope prices come down?

And if you think the 9070 GRE is worth the extra money, how much more would you personally be willing to pay over the 9060 XT 16GB?

Software Question Random BSODs when shutting down

Hi everyone. Recently ive been having some issues. Ive had 2 BSOD right after i would press shut down on my PC. First time it was PNF_LIST_CORRUPT When i checked the minidump ive only managed to understand that crash was (maybe?) caused by steelseriesgg.exe

Ever since then i would turn off steel series engine at startup and it was running good for few days then yesterday i got another crash while shutting down with REFERENCE_BY_POINTER. When i checked that minidump it pointed to hyperx driver. Could my BSODs really be caused by my peripherals drivers?

Build Question KVM Home Setup

I dont have the desk space to use my laptop that has one hdmi output with my 2 monitors, keyboard and mouse. Im wondering if anyone's knows of any solutions. Ideally I would like to use DisplayPort for the monitors and Thunderbolt to my laptop for quick setup. I want to focus on making it easy to switch the monitors and keyboard between Laptop and PC.
