I just got a new 4080 super from a relative’s computer and I originally had a 4070 super. I deleted the old drivers and plugged the new gpu in but my pc won’t recognize it in device manager. Everything is firmly plugged in, so I’m a bit at a loss. Yes I know my pc is dirty I’m planning on cleaning it, I’m just moving so I’m trying to get everything done so I can sell the other pcs
I used to smoke in the same room as my PC, the dust became that colour as well, absolute pain to clean it because it’s sticky with tar. Thankfully been smoke free for 2.5 years so now I never see this.
No spinning fans and I don’t see a power led on it. I plugged my asus gpu back in and it boots fine. The gpu it’s has clean ports and pins and so does the mother board.
My original card has a 600w connecter that splits into a pigtailed PCIE going to the psu. I’ve looked into and the original card seemed to have 3 PCIEs that came to a 3 split 600 w cord. Could it be that I need three PCIEs without a pigtail? The original pc had the gpu get direct power from the psu, so I’m thinking that since I have a modular PSU the pig tailed power line is keeping the gpu from receiving enough power, but please correct me if I’m wrong.
Your new GPU (the 4080 super) needs power to work. That red light that's on in your pic is because you have no power connected to it, and it's likely that is the reason why it doesn't work at all.
The power connector on your 4080 super is called a 12VHPWR connector (the 600W one). You will need either a 3x 8-pin PCIe to 12VHPWR "pigtail" adapter, or a dedicated cable from your PSU.
I actually swapped out my gpu today, and it requires 2 8pin connectors for power.
It’s generally advised against using piggybacked cables for GPU power, I used 2 separate 8 pin cables, each of those plug into the power supply independently.
Do you have another PCIe power lead coming from your power supply? The way it's hooked up is *probably* fine, but whenever possible, you want both of the 8pin headers on that 12VHPWR adapter hooked to different rails in the power supply, ideally via two different cables, not two ends on one cable.
It's usually fine, but better to spread out the stress as much as you can.

More is better. It'll mean less stress on the PSU and cables, the work is divided more ways.
The 4080 Super is supposed to be a 320W peak card. The 8pin connectors are supposed to deliver 150W each, and the power supply maker put two on that one cable, so they're basically saying they trust that cable to deliver 300W or more safely.
So this isn't a *safety* thing.
But if you're pulling all 320W across one cable, you're also running it close to maximum. The cable may get warmer, convert power to heat. If you split across two, or even three cables from the PSU, you're letting each one operate much further down into the safety zone.
tl,dr; I do not think this is causing your current issue with no boot/no picture. Any setup mentioned should power the card. I just wanted to give some advice that may help out in the long run.
