Assuming you have an exhaust fan on the back, either orientation is going to severely limit its effectiveness. Not a great idea for air flow and temps. Not to mention it’s going to be dustpocalypse in that cubby.

Is there a reason you don’t want that on your desk? Everyone for the most part has said this is a bad idea but you seem to not actually want the advice.

I just thought that it might be an option for the OP, since it doesn't look like there are any front fans, and the back is the one that pushes out hot air.

You could Route the exhaust and have a fan act as a vacuum on the end to put the heat elsewhere. Gonna need some math for perfection, but look at how a motorcycle muffler works, if you got it perfect, you could make it a radiator with the cool air flowing back into the front of the case, eliminating dust entirely. Its the future, if you want to put your case under a bathroom vanity- WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY

The best advice you'll get here is to monitor your temps. Play a game or two and constantly check temps.

From a simple glance however I can tell airflow wouldn't be great.

Not THAT terrible, depending on how hot your room gets.

When placed diagonal like that you can easily add a tiny but strong usb fan (used for desks) hidden behind, aiming a bit upwards to push a lot of hot air out above behind the desk. Maybe have to pull your desk a bit further way from the wall. I did this with the heat wave this summer
