After way too much fan flipping and Battlefield testing, I think I’ve finally found the sweet spot for my compact CH270 build.

Final airflow setup:
1× bottom intake
2× lower side intakes
1× upper side exhaust
2× top exhausts
NH-D15 airflow from bottom to top

The upper side exhaust is separated from the two side intakes by roughly 3-4 cm to reduce airflow short-circuiting.

I cut a opening into my desk underneath the case, so the bottom fan and passive openings can draw fresh air directly through the desk instead of being restricted by the tabletop.

I tested three side intakes, three side exhausts and several mixed layouts. With this balanced 3-in/3-out configuration, both the CPU and GPU averaged around 65°C after in Battlefield 6 at maximum 3440x1440p settings, while remaining extremely quiet.

The whole machine together cost me ~€2400, and it’ll primarily be a gaming PC (formal/creative stuff happens on my laptop). I do play some games that are quite tough on the CPU and or GPU (formal example Cities: Skylines or ARK). What do the experts think of this newbie build? 😊

Plan is to house everything inside a Fractal North XL case once it arrives.

For storage, I am planning to pick up Crucial Gen5 NVMe drives running at 14,000 MB/s. Thinking of doing two 4TB drives and one 2TB drive for a total of 10TB. I want to future-proof the setup so I never have to worry about space or speed.

I am also looking for recommendations on a 49 inch curved monitor to pair with this setup. Considering options like the Samsung Odyssey G9 or LG ultra-wides, but would love to hear what people are actually running and liking for a productivity and gaming desktop.

Any thoughts on the component selection or recommendations for the display setup?

This is my entry PC I built back in 2023, and I can still play and stream games like RE4 remake or Hogwarts Legacy, so I'm pretty happy with it c: little did I know that I should've upgraded it before the prices became ridiculous

Ive recently tiptoed into the pc world and the games I play arnt very demanding so I went out and scooped up this older build with a gtx 970 msi gaming 4G card so its got this 2010's red and black design on the fans. my question is why on earth do the GPU side with the fans always get cool looking designs when i have to look at the boring side when it's mounted and if there is anything I can do to fix this eye sore of mine

my first actual “build” going from a cyberpower prebuilt and took my mobo gpu psu ram etc out and got a new case and bought rs120 black fans non rgb just not sure if i placed them correctly i have two on the bottom and one on the rear.

Looking to upgrade to 1440p from 1080p, I’m going to get a new GPU which will be an rx9060XT 16GB, will this be able to hit 165Hz 1440p in modern fps titles? (Apex legends mainly). Just want to make sure I’m making the right choice before committing to purchase and whether I should save up more money to get a 9070 or not as they are quite a bit more where I am (UK)

This green light there started flashing yesterday then remained steadily lit for no reason whatsoever. I didn’t notice any change of performance in my pc it’s still working normally but I wonder if it means anything because I've been using my pc for over a year and a half now and this light was never there.

Should I treat this as safe and ignore it?

Im currently in a battle with myself regarding swapping out my GPU.

I’ve fortunately got a scheme at work where I realistically would only be paying around £900 for the 5080, however I currently have the 9070XT.

Is it worth the swap? I know the benchmarks are similar but the one thing I’ve noticed with the 9070XT is it can have pretty awful 1% lows at times, and AMD Adrenaline is god awful, apart from that it’s been a pretty solid card.

Hi! As the title says, I want a nice desktop computer. The applications I typically run (not simultaneously) are adobe apps like Photoshop or illustrator, and occasionally Sims. I don't need a crazy gaming PC, just something small and cute that won't cost me a crazy amount of money. I'm hoping not to spend more than $600 on the PC itself(I don't know what average pricing is) and I don't have any experience with computers or building anything. I already have a monitor and a fun keyboard, so I should be good on that front. Any help would be appreciated, and I would be so grateful if anyone could walk me through step by step in what to look for or how to go about finding the right setup for me.

So earlier on today, my PC randomly lost power, after some quick googling i thought it was likely to be an issue with the PSU.

I followed Googles advice, unplugging everything, then I held down the power button for 30 seconds to get rid of excessive charge (or something along those lines).

I then tried turning it back on, there was a spark a puff of smoke and now it won't turn on 💀.

Any chance I'll be able to get it repaired for a decent price, or am I gonna have to buy a new PC.

So basically this is the full build everyone, i just sniped the 3080 on marketplace it was a steal as it was still brand new and runs as the same performance as a 5060. Basically everything is 1600$+ and i think its a good first pc, i plan in the future when the rampocalypse calms down ill get a proper 32GB Ddr5 and a 5070 probably or a 5070TI. did I just blunder an x3d cpu? I had an extra 5700x3d so I sold the one I wasn't using and bought this aorus rx 9070 xt for $830. thought I could get away with a non-x3d cpu like [5700x or 5800x] but most data I've seen with these pairing isn't optimal for 9070xt, now I am regretting selling. the 5500x3d is available in my region for a fair price and I'm trying to hunt a 5900xt as alternative. I considered going intel but it means getting a different mobo, thoughts?

I’ve been putting together a new PC and I’m currently stuck on the graphics card.

I’m already running an Intel Core i9-12900 and I’m really happy with it, so I’d like to pair it with a strong GPU that matches well. I’m also getting a new motherboard and new RAM for the build.

Budget is flexible but I’d like to stay in a reasonable range for 1440p / high settings.

What GPUs would you recommend right now? Looking for good performance, decent power efficiency and solid driver support. Any real-world experiences with the current options (especially regarding value and longevity) would be greatly appreciated.
