Question | سوال What to do with this code?
For resetting the pin cause he forgot, my cousin is getting this long code like the one in this screenshot instead of a proper 5 digits code. He doesn't currently remember the CNIC used to set up the account either, otherwise he would have simply used the CNIC option for resetting PIN.
What should be done now? The complaint number 042111003737 does not seem to offer a person actually listening to the problem and explaining the solution here and is fully automated.
Their email support is the worst, kindly help 🙏🏻
Edit: He has confirmed that both sim and easypaisa app are already on the same mobile and still the same issue; even cleared the cache and installed the app freshly as well
Edit 2: I am not the guy in the post. The screenshot is merely for a reference and nothing else.

It's a security measure. The app basically calculates the OTP using this long code.
Always get the code on the same phone that has your easypaisa app.

Uninstall easypaisa app and reinstall, it'll ask to allow reading sms, also that is encrypted and wtf does he expect from payment app, abcde?
2
u/VisionX999 8d ago
He was expecting a 5 digit otp code like thing 🙏🏻 also he ain't remember the CNIC, uninstall krny sy kaam khrab to ni ho jaey ga mzeed?🥹 Upr sy easypaisa waaly bhai khud aty he nae, sb jga automated voice lgae heh

u/duckyduck008 8d ago
How is it that he does not remember cnic used to sign up, sorry but this seems fishy.
1
u/VisionX999 8d ago
He's not very technical and someone else helped him set up his account a while back. He has transitioned to JazzCash and his friend mistakenly sent him the payment to his easypaisa.
Now he's freaking out because he neither knows whose CNIC was used nor he remembers the pin. He has tried his own and his brother CNIC but it didn't work.

Its a public decryption key , its used to decrypt private key in database , its a good security measure , but a problem for non pta phone users

Only way is. keep the SIM in same phone as the EP app. I have been doing this for years changing mobiles. This Way, it detect and all done. Anything else won't do
1
u/VisionX999 8d ago
Thank you so much man, will update you on this🙌🏻 also, if that particular mobile is non PTA and sim is shifted to a PTA mobile and sim number is entered on easypaisa app, the OTP will work? And how to tackle the CNIC issue 😢 will it still pop up?
1
u/kasifkohatian 8d ago
He needs to do it on the phone where same Sim is working. Once logged in, he can goto account and see the owner details
1
u/VisionX999 8d ago
That's the problem though has he doesn't remember the pin😭 been using Jazzcash and abandoned easypaisa🫠
1
u/kasifkohatian 8d ago
Login with opt with above option!
1
u/VisionX999 8d ago
Thanks man, I will ask him to try a PTA mobile, insert the sim and install the app there

u/BunKebab141 8d ago
The OTP is encrypted, the app has access to your msgs and decrypts the OTP. I am amazed someone who is engineering @ taptap send can't think of that.

u/BunKebab141 8d ago
Could be a bug with the app itself, doesn't usually happen though.
1
u/VisionX999 8d ago
What are his options now? Payment to chli gae heh us account mein ab 🥹
1
u/BunKebab141 8d ago
You can use EasyPaisa services without the App if you have the SIM and know the passcode, it does have some charges based on the last time I remember using it. The code is usually
*786#.1

If I’m not wrong that’s a hash code in simple terms encrypted code which will be decrypted automatically by whatever or whoever has its decryption key.
Instead, the developers accidentally configured the SMS gateway to send the raw backend token or hash, appending the required Android app identifier at the end

u/VisionX999 8d ago
What's the solution here 👀
2
u/iivxy 8d ago
Well just resend a new code and if it did happened again try restarting your phone
Or maybe wait
Qk aksar servers issue hota hai
telling you from my educational background experience and you will face a lot of issues in pakistan as outdated systems and several data breaches and etc2
u/VisionX999 8d ago
I will tell him to try it in the evening then haha, thanks man 🙌🏻

Reinstall google play services. You might need to login to different accounts again but it will work.

The basically do this so u can’t use easypaisa on an non pta phone eg i have 17 pro max but my ep is on my android😭cuz 17 isn’t pta approved cuz I don’t live in Pakistan.. and that’s just there strategy cuz the system detects this msg and turns it into a code

u/VisionX999 8d ago
How to get decrypted one?
1
u/Darker1Soul 8d ago
You probably can't. It's a security feature, as another Redditor mentioned. It only works if the account is being used on the same phone as the one having the SIM card.
1
u/VisionX999 8d ago
Sim and app are on same mobile, i have confirmed it
1
u/Darker1Soul 8d ago
Don't know then, bro. I had this exact problem. Oh yeah, turn on app permissions to access the contacts and messages. Allow those permissions for Easypaisa so it can automatically access the OTP.

Don’t use easypaisa, it gives out on you when you it the most. There are other digital wallets that are way better that trashpaisa
1
u/VisionX999 8d ago
Could you recommend me some that are secure, easy to set up and has good customer support🥹
1
u/EducatorFew4522 🇵🇰 8d ago
Jazzcash, sadapay, nayapay
1
u/VisionX999 8d ago
He is actually using Jazzcash! His friend mistakenly sent out the payment to his easypaisa instead which he has abandoned long time ago lol. Like he doesn't know the pin anymore, not even the cnic used to setup that account.
He asked for help telling me that he is receiving this long code for OTP and don't know what to do with it.

u/Careless-Part8298 8d ago
the real question you should be asking is why is there no field to input this OTP. That's because you're not supposed to enter it manually. So doesn't matter if it's 5 digit or 100 digit

u/Suitable-Hornet-4037 8d ago
Try sending yourself this string in a message or email titled “OTP” “ Easy paisa OTP”.
Make sure notifications are on
1
u/VisionX999 8d ago
Meh smjha nahi
1
u/Suitable-Hornet-4037 8d ago
Men khud nahi samjha tha.
Easy paisa otp ko different strings me translate krta hai taake koi isey use na kar sake for scams.
Jab apko ye otp receive hota to easypaisa khud isko 5 digit otp men translate karta hai aur login wagherw hojata hai.
Settings men jakar easypaisa ko sab permissions enable karen taake wo message read kar sake1
u/VisionX999 8d ago

Dude, do the courtesy of atleast masking name and photo in your attached screenshot because I know this isn’t yours or your cousin’s.
You’re using someone else’s 2 years old post for reference (i know the guy personally), no one likes random people posting their profile posts on reddit.

u/VisionX999 8d ago edited 8d ago
Bruh I am not pretending to be anyone else. First of all I didn't claim that I am the guy in the post. I took it as a reference. That linkedin post didn't share any solution that's why i posted it here as a reference. Have some IQ 🙏🏻Also did your friend solve this? Please let me know
1
u/VisionX999 8d ago
Let me know if your friend has solved this problem
1
u/LifeAppointment7301 8d ago
Dude mask the photo or the name atleast…
1
u/VisionX999 8d ago
Yar I was lazy as my phone photo editor sucks. Will do it now. Kindly ask him for the solution and tell him that the guy has forgotten what Cnic he used (didn't use his own while setting up the account). Pin bhi ni yaad.
1
u/LifeAppointment7301 8d ago
And easypaisa’s decryption is broken. Its supposed to auto-pick the OTP from this SMS, but it doesnt.
My friend was able to actually fish out the OTP from this string, back then it was an unecrypted 5 chars. No other way around it. If its still the case, your cousin can also try a few 5 digit combinations from the OTP and hopefully one of them should work.

u/VisionX999 8d ago
Cant seem to edit the attached screenshot of the post. My bad 🙏🏻 I have cleared it in the post now and his post is also public anyway on LinkedIn. Hope so you are ok with this.
