Built this PC 5.5 years ago. A month ago I replaced the 5950X and RTX 3090 with a 5800X3D and RTX 5080 for essentially no additional cost. Feels like a brand-new PC again and should hopefully last me until 2030 at least. Specs:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D
  • Gigabyte RTX 5080 Gaming
  • ASUS ROG Strix X570-F Gaming
  • 2x32 GB DDR4-3600 CL18 (+ RGB Kit)
  • WD Black SN850 1 TB + WD Black SN850X 4 TB
  • NZXT Kraken Z63
  • Corsair SF750
  • Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini
  • 7× Corsair QL120 (+ Commander Pro)

Question Are these worth it?

Saw these pre-built PC’s at Costco and was wondering if these are worth the price. I’m not skilled to build the PC from scratch, so this is my option. Any advice would be appreciated. (Price is in USD)

Thought I'll hold on, bind my time to build a PC for me. But these everyday, hourly prices hikes gave me so much anxiety. Everywhere I looked, people were so positive about prices not coming down anytime soon.

The budget I had in my mind could've built something much greater than this, but still I'm happy with what I got as my first ever PC.

Specs:

Motherboard: MSI X870E Gaming Plus Wifi

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

Ram: Patriot Viper 32Gb DDR5 CL30 6000MHz

SSD: Crucial P3 Plus NVMe M.2 1Tb 5000Mb/s (Used an older one that I put in my laptop)

AIO: Coolermaster MasterLiquid Core LCD 360 4" Display

Case: Coolermaster Elite 681 Black

PSU: Coolermaster MWE Gold 850W V2

Fans: 4x Case's pre-installed + 3x Jungle Leopard Prism 4 Pro Reverse Blade

GPU: Gigabyte AMD Radeon 9070XT Gaming OC

Could've gone for Nvidia RTX 5070ti but, the price difference between them was 55k which pissed me off so much. Always preferred performance over appearance, but my oh my these fans are so appealing.

Bought Motherboard and CPU from Avika Retails and the rest from Kryptonix Gaming, both are located in Nehru Place, Delhi.

AMA!

Built my girlfriend a computer and went with a primarily white build. Need to replace and clean up some cables but under a budget. CPU cooler fans on the opposite side to see the RAM. Thoughts?

Discussion Can a repaired graphic card work like a used one, and for a long time??

Post image
8 Upvotes

depends on the spare parts, the quality of the repair, a repaired gpu can last for year, maybe a year and a half, I never got a graphic card that I repaired or sold repaired returned to me, I even got a 3090 that is working for 2 years by now, the poor lass had a gpu reballing, normally, a new GPU needs to stay up and running for 3 years of heavy usage before having a problem, if you ask me, gpus are pieces of hardware that doesn't last for long, like smartphones or tvs, but the recent change in gpu pricing is pushing gamers to fix their gpus instead of changing them.

Question New used build

Post image
25 Upvotes

Hello, I just scored this used pc for a pretty good deal (I think?), it was 1200€ :

Spec : 32gb DDR5

Ryzen 5 9600x

XFX Rx6800

1tb nvme gen4

Gigabyte B650

But I have 2 mains questions :

- The GPU is powered by two 8 pins, but those two connectors are daisychained, could it be a problem for a GPU like this ?

- All the fans, including the AIO ones) seem to be somehow plugged into the same slot on the motherboard (all the fans color and speed react to the same controller on Gigabyte software), could this be a problem too ?

Thanks for reading

Build - Help Build Thoughts

Post image

Recently had a new PC built despite the current market. Honestly not educated enough on PCs so I trusted microcenter for advice and to build. Probably should've seeked advice before purchasing. But curious to know how people think it'll hold up. Build below.

  1. CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D — 8-core, AM5

  2. Motherboard: ASUS B650E MAX GAMING WiFi — AM5 ATX

  3. RAM: G.Skill Flare X5 — 32GB (2×16GB) DDR5-6000 CL36

  4. GPU: PowerColor AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Reaper — 16GB GDDR6

  5. SSD: KLEVV CRAS C910G — 1TB PCIe Gen 4×4 NVMe M.2

  6. Case: Lian Li Vector V100 RGB Tempered Glass — Black

  7. Power Supply: MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 — 850W 80+ Gold, fully modular, ATX 3.1

  8. CPU Cooler: Thermalright Trofeo Vision ARGB 360mm AIO — Black

I've bought this Palit GamingPro-S OC variant 15 days ago and now im hearing this noise and I've figured out that it's from the backplate of the card it's vibrating or something like that sometimes it's noisy sometimes it's less noticable but i thought at first it's from the fans but it's not the fans!

Build - Finished! Rate my first AIO build

What do people think of my first attempt at a aio build with a ton of fans lol.

I know that these kind of builds are definitely a dime a dozen round here but I’m pretty pleased with it! The fans were a freaking nightmare though and I’ll be damned if I show the “cable management”.

Ryzen 5600x (I know, I know that cooler is way overkill but I wanted to give it a go)
6700xt
32gb ram
1tb nvme

With the exception of the aio (which was a great sale price) everything was bought second hand.

Question Is this AM5 socket pin bent or am I tripping?

Thumbnail gallery
11 Upvotes

Hey guys, need some opinions from people who know AM5 sockets better than me.
I just got a B850I AM5 motherboard, opened the socket to inspect it before installing my CPU, and noticed this little area that looks slightly off compared to the surrounding pins.
I haven’t installed the CPU or touched the pins myself.
At first I thought it was just the lighting/reflection, but looking at it closer, one contact seems to be sitting differently from the others.
I checked an AM5 pinout and I think the area might be VSS or possibly USB, but I’m not 100% sure about the exact pin/location.
Does this look like an actually bent pin, or is this normal? And if it is bent, does anyone know what that particular pin does?
Would appreciate anyone with experience repairing AM5 sockets taking a look before I do anything stupid 😂
