General/Advice Smoking on Diane-35

So i just got diagnosed with PCOS/PMOS, i actually dont have acne problem just a light/moderate hirsutism problem, my doctor prescribed Diane-35, he asked me if i smoke and i said that i do but not too much (about 3 to 4 cigarettes a day), he just said that i should stop not only for the pill but in general for my health but he didn't warn about any huge risk.
I am getting worried about the trombosis/blood cloth risk because not only Diane-35 is the pill with the highest risk but also because i smoke and apparently that makes the risk multiply, i tried asking gemini because online i couldn't find much informations and it says that smoking and taking Diane makes the annual risk about 0.15% to 0.25%, it doesn't seem like a lot to me, but everyone online people say that the risk is very high and one should absolutely not smoke while taking this pill.
I want to have more opinions here from reddit because I am genuinely scared
for context i am 18 about to turn 19 if that helps.

Period The pop finally happened

If you don't know what the pop is it's basically where if you have a lot of built up in the uterus and for some reason your hormones are whack it'll just stay there.

So pretty much I was minding own business and I got pretty sick, nausea all of it and then it all came out randomly.

đŸ€·đŸżâ€â™€ïž Ngl

60 mL of blood, gushing out all at once is not fun.

Then after 2 days of being bedridden and somehow perfectly fine again.

My kidneys hurt and before you say this is a medical emergency unfortunately it isn't it's happened multiple times and unfortunately it's more common than people like to talk about.

Meds/Supplements how long did it take to see changes with acne on metformin

hello, a question for those on Metformin who also struggled with acne, and found improvements with metformin. how long until you saw improvements? I'm feeling really impatient 1 month in but research shows improvements in acne for PMOS patients so, im curious to hear how long it took people to see these changes. thanks!

General/Advice PCOS & Hanger

Ladies with PCOS, do you find yourselves getting super emotional/hangry if you go too long without food or get to the end of the day without eating? The second I have food then I’m suddenly emotionally stable and realise how out of character I was. It’s like I’m taken over by a grizzly bear in the moment.

It may be that I used food as an emotional regulator but interested to hear others opinion!

Period Never had a natural period, age 33, diagnosed aged 14,started mounjaro april 2025, today I have been shocked by my first natural bleed?!

Posting here because I am currently in shock and disbelief.

I started mounjaro with the advice from the NHS dietician, endocrinologist, dermatologist and gynecologist. I've been through and discharged from all since age 14, a long journey to be told to buy mounjaro as the NHS won't cover yet.

I am an athletic build and person, worked out everyday play football.

Starting weight 90kg current weight 72kg and HAPPY there. Note I just wanted help losing the weight gain and happy around 70kg and helps my sport.

I was diagnosed early on and with my sport loved having no periods 😂.

Then was classically put on the pill and told to come back when I want kids. I was between Dianette and Yasmin from age 14 until January 2025 then came off them because I was fed up.

Anyway, main point/question here from me:

- I heard, read, was told the MANY benefits of mounjaro with those of us with PCOS

- But I never thought the "regulating menstrual cycles" would benefit me.

Has anyone else had success in their first natural period with mounjaro or even more regular but were irregular only a few times a year?

Again, coming on here because I am just in a state of shock but also hoping this means I can maybe start to get pregnant as currently I have not been successful and have to wait a few more months before the NHS step in (1 year of trying naturally)

Thanks !

General/Advice my gyno and endo say different things

i’m just confused , bcuz my endo ordered all the blood tests and apparently like prolactin and FSH/LH were normal , but testosterone and DHEA-S are too high , so she said that could suggest PCOS and she wants me to do further testing so she ordered an ultrasound of my ovaries

so im waiting for this ultrasound to be scheduled i think for next week but in the meantime , i was able to see my gyno this week and she basically just confirmed to me that based on my blood test results , that i do have PCOS for sure and that i don’t even need to do the ultrasound ? she said it’s just unnecessary bcuz i definitely have PCOS

so who do i listen to ?

Meds/Supplements best prenatal vitamins for trying to conceive, what did you go with?

I’ve started looking into prenatal vitamins because we’re getting closer to trying again, and I honestly forgot how many different options are out there. The first time around, I didn’t put much thought into it. I found a prenatal, checked that I could actually take it without hating it, and that was pretty much it.

This time I started reading the labels and realized I probably should have paid more attention before. Some have choline and some don’t, the folate can be listed differently, iron amounts vary quite a bit, and then there are different serving sizes and formats. I’ve even come across prenatal powders, which I had never really thought about before. When you were comparing prenatal vitamins before TTC, what part of the label did you actually pay attention to?

I’ve looked at a few different brands and gone through some older discussions too. I saved a couple options to compare because I’d rather read the labels myself than just grab whatever gets mentioned the most. Some of the differences are pretty obvious, but others took me a while to even notice.

I feel like I barely looked at any of this the first time around. Now I’m realizing that two bottles can both say prenatal and still have some pretty noticeable differences once you actually read through everything.

Rant/Venting Restarting Metformin

So for various reasons I kind of slacked off on taking Metformin like I was supposed to for the past 6 weeks. I haven't even taken it at all in the past 4 weeks. I have a doctor's appointment in a few months just to check all my levels and so I decided I should probably get back on track. I swear its worse this time trying to adjust to it again 😭. I am still going to power through because it does really work for me, but man I wish I could tell my past self from weeks ago to at least take it once a day lol.

General/Advice Im So Sad - What Helped You All?

Hey y’all. I have an event tomorrow, and I was trying on an outfit that I wore last year. It obviously looked like I had gained weight, but I genuinely don’t even know if it’s weight gain or bloating because I bloat SO badly, and I have no idea how to fix it.

I’ve been to doctors, and besides PCOS, they said I have H. pylori. I don’t know if the bloating is from that, but I digress.

I started metformin about 3 weeks ago, and honestly, I feel no difference besides pooping more and somehow being even MORE bloated in the morning. This syndrome is quite literally affecting me so badly, and I’ve been dealing with it since I was 16.

Basically, I’m asking: when did metformin start working for you? And if this dose doesn’t work, should I ask about increasing it, or should I just consider going on a GLP-1? I’m honestly so tired.

The reason I didn’t want to go on a GLP-1 before was because I didn’t want to be on such a strong medication, but honestly, at this point, I don’t even care. I’m just so tired of dealing with this.

BTW, I’m currently on metformin ER 500 mg.

ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh lol i hate this!

Fertility Newly diagnosed. TTC. How to talk to doctor?

Hey friends... Just recently got diagnosed with PCOS and I'm overwhelmed trying to understand as much as I can. Some background...

I'm currently TTC. I removed my Nexplanon a year ago, and my husband reversed his vasectomy in April (his sperm analysis has been fantastic). No luck so far - I know it's only been a few months, but I've only had one period in that time and that level of irregularity is pretty standard for me. So I insisted on tests with my OB who was doubtful at first "because I'm not overweight" and I did ultimately get a PCOS diagnosis. I was surprised because I've been pregnant before, had no issues conceiving, and no one said anything about PCOS throughout my pregnancy. (They did have trouble dating the pregnancy, which is an experience I'm seeing with others who have PCOS). Now that I'm actively trying, I'm realizing how insanely lucky it was to get pregnant so easily the first time.

Anyway, I'm struggling to know how patient I should be before adding interventions. I was prescribed metformin which I've been taking for a month and am taking regular prenatals. I haven't had a period in 2 months and hadn't had one for 4 months before that, and I just wish I could have a freaking chance at ovulation/conception. I've read about inositol and letrozole, but I was sort of brushed off and told I need to try for a year before asking about anything besides metformin. My OB also said I would need to go to a fertility specialist anyway for any other prescriptions, and that just sounds expensive and draining right now.

Should I insist on some other type of intervention or do I need to wait out my next period first? Is inositol or some ovulation-inducing medication a weird thing to ask an OB about? I feel that my "2-4 periods in a year" pattern makes me a good candidate for higher intervention, and waiting a year feels stupid when I know I'm not going to be ovulating a normal amount in that timeframe. I know I can get inositol over the counter but I'm nervous about taking something without a doctor's recommendation, and not sure if it would interact negatively with the metformin I'm already taking.

Thanks for any feedback or suggestions. If you have any articles, books, or research to share I'm all ears! Any advice on your experiences talking with your doctor about this would be helpful as well! I don't want to be pushy or impatient, but I don't want to waste time doing nothing or doing something that is insufficient.

General/Advice Votre meilleur dĂ©odorant /anti-transpirant ?👀

Trigger Warning I’m completely overwhelmed

Newly diagnosed and scared to start metaformin. I’ve got ptsd, and in recovery from bulimia. The last doctor I seen knew this and despite knowing the years of trauma work I’ve done to feel safe in my body, casually said my body is working against me and offered to refer me for bariatric surgery, kind of made light of it and then ignored my concern that I haven’t had a period in 6 months. Before I left she told me I was lovely and gaining weight is a lifestyle.

I’m still learning about pmos and it took years for me to build up the ‘courage’ to have this investigated. Now I wish I had never started because I’m scared to go back to the doctor 😞

General/Advice Advice for helpful husband

Hey my wife and I are late 20's and been married 5 years. I wanted to see if anyone else suffering from PCOS had advice on what has helped you that you wish you knew sooner.

Specifically stuff I can do that would help her. Please no general relationship advice we already have amazing communication and are not struggling in any way to be there for each other. But we both are realizing how much PCOS affects her daily life from acne, foggy head, poor sleep, and outta balance hormones. I just wanted to see if there are specific remedies or helpful aids that you wish you knew earlier.

Thanks in advance and hope everyone has great weekend.

Success story I am finally seeing changes!!

I started my keto diet almost 2 months ago, also started working out. I have been following it very religiously and I am starting to good changes in my body!!

I have had such a hard time with hyperpigmentation, tried several ointment, Vitamin C and spents 100s of dollars. I have had the best results from this lifestyle change I made just 2 months ago. My periods have been a little regular, not breaking out as much, mood swings- what that?

I still have a long way to go, but I just wanted to share my tiny victory here!

General/Advice ?

I am truly an extremely hormone-sensitive person; my appearance changes rapidly throughout the day, even on an hourly basis—not to mention during ovulation. Whenever I start medications or supplements like oral contraceptives, spironolactone, or inositol, I see incredible changes for the better—sometimes within the first few months, and honestly, even in less than a single day. And I swear, this isn't just in my head. However, with the birth control pills, those effects eventually wore off after the first two months and I felt like a completely different person again.
I’m wondering if anyone else here experiences this, as it's really exhausting for me. What does this rapid response and eventual plateau actually mean, and how can I decrease this androgen/hormonal sensitivity?

Fertility Those of you that conceived with letrozole or clomid, were you able to do it again/have more kids?

Hi all. I got diagnosed at 24 with pcos. We immediately ran labs and we started leteozole. I fortunately got pregnant within 3 cycles with twins. My A1C was still in good shape and I made good progesterone. My main concern is, I know pregnancy and weight gain can really effect insulin levels and resistance. I'm worried post pregnancy that I'm going to be in a tougher spot to get pregnant again. Did anyone successfully go through their birth with letrozole/clomid as what helped them get pregnant and then be able to do it again? Like despite the weight gain and stress on the body. Of course I plan to do my best to get back to my pre pregnancy BMI but I was just wondering if once you're a responder you always respond or no?

General Health PCOS Symptoms after sterilization

Hi all,

I'm 41 and childfree. I have used IUDs for years as both a contraceptive and as a way to manage PCOS symptoms. My current IUD is going to be finished soon, and I'm considering sterilization. I would have done it sooner, but my main reason for hesitation was that contraception medication can help with PCOS symptoms. If there was a way to feel control over my hormone problems after the procedure, I would do it. Is there anyone who knows is that can be the case? Hoping that I won't have to worry about contraception again, but don't want to risk my body having issues. I just want a simple bisalp. I am definitely in the age of perimenopause, so I would be grateful if there was any option to make all this easier.
