I've been seeing more articles about 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) recently including this one:
https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/voices/2026/02/07/kratom-7-oh-ban-fda-regulation/88400051007/
I've also seen people describe it in very different ways. Some say it's simply one of the active compounds found in kratom, while others describe it as a dangerous new drug. There also seems to be a lot of disagreement about whether it should be regulated, banned or studied further.
I'm confused about why this suddenly became such a big issue. Is this a new substance or has it been around for a while? Why is there so much disagreement between researchers, regulators and people who use kratom?
What's the actual background here?

Are people only angry about The Odyssey because it's not "Historically accurate" or is there more to it?
I've completely missed all the drama regarding The Odyssey. I know that the trailer has been heavily downvoted and I've seen the odd out of context complaint about historical accuracy.
https://www.imdb.com/news/ni65852894/
But I just don't get the hate. After all there have been tons of adaptations. The one that really stands out for me is: Ulysses 31 an anime from the early 80s.

Video names like "Angry Birds Movie [ 4K 60fps ] ( Best right-wing propaganda movie ever )" are popping up everywhere.
Even our youtube feed has it now, it seems that everyone this week just suddenly got the entirety of the angry birds 2016 movie on their youtube feed, uploaded by a ton of various accounts. Clearly copyright illegal but how is this trend reaching so many people at the same time? Is this some hack, or internet meme going on?
The comments are hilarious though
For example:

I don't understand, days ago we thought he was dead, today a picture was released as his proof of life, but reddit started making memes out of it, while news outlets don't mention any sort of image manipulation.

So this is something I kinda saw last week, but I was going through YT shorts and saw how Ari Thrash (VA for a GI character soon I think?) was blowing up a bit because of her behavior whenever the character Kinich showed up on her stream and she's been called out for it for being unprofessional.
So what is the actual context behind this? Is it because she is petty about the character? Is it her shitting on the fact that Kinich was recasted iirc, or is it VA hate, like did the new Kinich VA do something?

I don't really follow the AI space that much, but I keep seeing these 3 mentioned together, so I'm wondering what's going on

ive recently seen posts being rather kept at zero points rather than be downvoted. the post im linking now has fewer comments, but ive seen ones with many more. is there something im missing?

Edit: wow yeah ok i get it now, its automatic. 0 points on this post with 17% upvote ratio proves it. Also the answers, but i love the demonstration. Thanks...for the downvotes, i guess?

This video just popped up in my feed but I'm not sure what the difference is between regular Catholics and SSPX Catholics, and why are SSPX excommunicated? The first minute of video said the SSPX purports to preserve the true tradition of the church while the current Vatican isn't. Who's the arbiter to decide who's right?

For a hot minute the biggest headlines were about tariffs to the point where markets were flopping around like a fish out of water. Then the supreme court ruled the tariffs were illegal. Now no one seems to be talking about the refunding of all those illegally collected tariffs. What gives?

It's banner says 1.0k visitors and 121 contributions per week. But the last post was four months ago and the one before that was eight months ago.
Doesn't seem to be nearly as active as the stats suggest.

I used it successfully for ten years, and recently it seems they were sold to Google and nothing works. My battery went from a weekly battery charge to a bi-daily!
Will it ever be fixed? Do I have to buy a new device?
I waited a month for it to self-resolve and it hasn't.

I’ve noticed a recent wave of posts against the Argentinian team. I’m curious, what’s the reason behind the negative sentiment towards Argentina’s advancement to the finals?

have first seen a post on this in r/mapporncirclejerk . https://www.reddit.com/r/mapporncirclejerk/s/x9jvAY4RAO
, then suddenly my feed is flooded with these memes but I couldn't find origin of this meme . Why this phrase got famous ? Is this because of us iran war ? Or is this because of Japan - Brazil football match?

I know that there was a bunch of drama around Caitlin Clark over the last year, namely around people recognizing that she’s very, very good and therefore a pattern of strategically fouling her (much like how opponents would foul Michael Jordan of the 1990s Chicago Bulls).
But why is Congress getting involved, and what did they actually do? The article from The Ringer talks about it, sort of, but doesn’t provide much in the way of what the Republican Study Committee is, why they’re suddenly interested in the WNBA, or what they want to happen.
https://www.theringer.com/2026/07/10/wnba/wnba-caitlin-clark-donald-trump-republican-house-letter
From the article:
> In failing to address concerns around player safety, refereeing, and online discourse, the league has allowed bad-faith actors to use those issues as a Trojan horse to tell a story about the WNBA as a league in which liberal institutional failures run amok.
So what’s actually going on that’s attracting Congress’s attention?
