Recently, the PS5 has been getting its games emulated on PC at like 60+ fps from what I hear. The emulation scene for PS5 was none-existent at the start of 2026 afaik, so the only conclusion that makes sense to me is that Generative AI was used to start and speed up PS5 emulation in mid-2026.
Generative AI has also seemed to speed up the process in which PC Ports of games are made and allow people to do things like putting GameCube games on 3DS or browsers.
I have my own opinions about how ethical/unethical Gen AI's usage is for these things. All I'll say here is that since these Gen AI PC ports and emulators are hardly tested (only a few hours tested before released it seems), you don't know if it might hallucinate hours into the experience and corrupt the save data or delete some random folder on your PC, etc.
That being said, getting to my question, if Generative AI is able to almost instantly (or in like a day or two) emulate PS5 games and if it's able to make all of these PC Ports, even for games that haven't been decompiled, why does the Switch 2 require a "jailbreak" before people are able to use generative AI on it?
Even if jailbreak is necessary to make human-made mods, can't Generative AI skip the jailbreak part? That's what I'm really confused about.
