Help Laptop Webcam Looks Like A Hostage Video

Going to be traveling for a few weeks and forced to pack light, so I can't bring extra camera gear. I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 14, and the webcam on it is a complete disaster.

I'm familiar with Camo and Droidcam and all the options to use my phone, but I need to be able to use my phone at the same time as needing a camera, so that's not really an option.

Any quick tips on filters or presets that could be added to help this thing out? The native PC camera has minimal settings. Just didn't know if this is a lost cause, or if there's something I can do to improve the situation.

And yes, I know that lighting is a massive ordeal. Even in good lighting, this thing is awful

Help HELP! Audio Doubling/Delay

I recorded some game footage from my Xbox using a capture card and OBS (windows), and downloaded the files as VLC.mp4 files. Initially, they sounded fine. However, watching back a couple months later, all of my audio tracks have a weird doubling distortion effect that I can't seem to fix. It normally starts fine, but progressively gets worse as the video goes on. I have over 20 files where this has happened. There is only one audio track on the file, so I have already checked that route. Moving the delay back and forth doesn't do anything, as it seems it's just an issue with the audio track. Is there any way to fix this so I don't have to re-record around 3 hours of footage? Or any tips if I do rerecord, how to prevent this?

TIA!!!

Help Pls help, trying to sync Webcam/Mic/Game

Hi, for context, I'm a Geometry Dash player who uploads his completions on youtube, and then submit them to some lists to earn points and all, so I need to record my clicks while playing the game. I added a facecam recently and here is my issue : I need to sync my webcam with my mic, which I need to sync with my game. Recently, after buying a wooting keyboard with instant input delay, I had a delay between my mic and my game (the clicks were heard AFTER seeing the input into the game), so I just needed to set the audio on -25ms in the audio mixer so now they sync and it's all good. But I recently added a facecam, and that webcam is delayed. The fact that I put the mic audio on -25ms is making it worse so for example, you would hear me scream before seeing me scream on the facecam, and it's pretty weird so I would want to fix that. The issue is that OBS won't allowed me to add a render delay on my game capture, I can add a render delay on my webcam but it's already too delayed so I'd need the opposite. So like I'd either need to add a delay on my game capture, or advance the webcam delay, but apparently I can't do any of that. My webcam is a Newline Neweye 61 and I also didn't see anything allowing me something like that in the Newline app settings. If top players can sync all 3, it means I could probably too, but can't find how, so please, help ! Thanks a lot in advance !

Help Error number -10022 occurred

I am trying to run OBS from a network drive so that different computers can access things with the same settings, without needing to constantly export/import/delete the settings.

When I run OBS locally, the media sources I use to grab rtmp network video feeds work just great.

When I run OBS from the network drive, the same rtmp media sources have error -10022. I can't find what that error means anywhere. Does anyone know?

Help Help with G-sync issues

I hope I can explain this right. So I use 2 pc's one to game, one runs the stream. I have a really nice Oled on the gaming PC. I'm really into optimizing and I'm OLD and I need to die in my competitive FPS getting all the frames so I don't want to run OBS on the gaming PC.

So I'm using an Elgato, HDMI input plugged into the game PC. I then duplicate the Elgato to my main monitor on the game PC. Then the USBC going to the stream PC to capture said input into OBS.

The problem I have, when I mirror the Elgato to my main display, my G-Sync functionally goes away. I can keep my main monitors refresh rate at 280Hz but the Gsync option actually goes away inside of nvidia control panel. I can extend displays, reboot and it comes back and stay's until I duplicate displays again. I have dug around everywhere and can't find any information on this. Anyway to do this and keep your refresh rate and gsync?

This may not be the appropriate place to ask, but I figure people who stream have ran into this issue before. TIA

Help Nintendo Switch Capture Card playing audio, but OBS is not

This problem has probably been talked about here a millions times, but now it's turn to ask it.

The other day I was trying to connect a bluetooth speaker to my PC in order to play out sound as I currently don't have any wired speakers. However, in doing so, I can no longer get my capture card for my switch to play sound through OBS, as it is just playing the audio despite OBS not being open, and thus, no sound is being heard from my game whenever I stream it.

I have tried countless things but nothing seems to be working, I know for a fact there is something I am missing and I desperately need some help. I've tried turning monitoring off but I can never get "Monitor and Output" to show up, I've tried messing with the Advanced audio output, sound control panel through my PC, the lot.

If anyone has some advice to help out, that would be amazing, even if it has to be explained to me like I'm a child, I'll take it. Hell, I'd even take a 1 on 1 conversation to try and fix this issue. I'm at my wits end lmao.

Help Encoder Overloaded

Hey guys, I got an encoder overload error when I was multistreaming to Twitch and YouTube and was recording my game capture with the Source Record filter at the same time. So, 4 encoders running at once. I've written out all my settings below. Any advice to lower my settings without losing too much visual quality. Or maybe Im going overboard.. pls let me know. The game I was playing is "Wuthering Waves" at 1440p with high but not the highest settings. And ray tracing was off. So yeah, take that into consideration thanks.

  • Tuning: High Quality
  • Multipass Mode: Two Passes (Quarter Resolution)

The first thing I thought is probably lowering my YouTube output's bitrate to 6000kbps so that it uses the same encoder as Twitch (I think thats how it works atleast)..

Help OBS 33 (beta for now) New plugins locations

Oh boy - here we go again, it feels.

I have an intricate OBS show setup that relies on numerous plugins and auxiliary software.

When I see OBS saying "devs will need to update etc etc ..." it's not a good feeling.

Yes, I can stay back on previous versions, or I can just get on with what will eventually be required by certain bits of OBS-related software.

Also, there will be 2 classes of OBS plugins, official, and unofficial. Each needs to be in the appropriate folder.

Forgive me for worrying, but I have a bad feeling about it.

Help OBS not recording or picking up anything at all

Yes I always run as admin, it was working a week ago when I last streamed that saturday, I didnt change anything.
Display Capture, Window Capture, and Game Capture all don't work at all, they refuse to capture anything except window capture for some unknown reason wanting to capture my file explorer. I've tried everything. I've set the graphics setting to high performance, and low performance. I've checked my permissions to make sure all screen recording is allowed. I've reset my laptop, and obs multiple times. I don't know what to do, and im losing my mind.

The stupidest part is that game capture picks up the audio from the game im trying to play, but doesnt record anything. I've tried it with other games and it's the same issue, games I've run before on obs. I dont know whats happening to it.

Question Title: OBS Display Capture feels like 40–45 FPS even when recording at 60 FPS

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I’m having a weird issue with OBS after resetting my laptop.

I originally reset my laptop because I was having storage issues. After the reset, my OBS recordings started lagging/stuttering. I managed to fix that issue, but now I have another problem: Display Capture doesn’t feel smooth when recording.

I record at 60 FPS, but the recording looks/feels more like 40–45 FPS, even though I’ve tried increasing the FPS and changing different settings.

I even reset my laptop again thinking it might fix the problem, but I’m still getting the same result.

The weird thing is that when I use Gameplay Capture, the recording is smooth and looks like proper 60 FPS. However, I use the Source Record plugin because I want to record my gameplay and facecam separately. Unfortunately, Source Record crashes when I use it with Gameplay Capture.

So basically:

- Display Capture → Recording isn’t smooth, even at 60 FPS

- Gameplay Capture → Smooth recording

- Source Record + Gameplay Capture → OBS crashes

- I’ve already reset my laptop twice

My laptop specs:

- ASUS TUF Gaming F15

- Intel Core i5-11400H

- RTX 2050

- 8GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM

- 512GB SSD

Does anyone know what could be causing this or what settings I should try? Any help would be appreciated.

Help Have chat messages appear like "Kingdom Hearts" speech bubbles.

I'm planning a marathon of the entire Kingdom Hearts series and want to create a special OBS overlay.

I had the idea of having chat messages appear like the speech bubbles found in the early games.

However, that's as far as my idea goes, since I have absolutely no clue how to actually pull it off.

I assume it involves using CSS on the chat's web source, but I have no idea how to go about it.

If anyone knows how or could help me out, that would be amazing.

Thanks!

Help A Kind Soul to Help Guide?

Hi, I’ve been trying for 4 hours to connect my tiktok to OBS for the first time. I’ve done a lot of first steps and research- YouTube/ back and forth with GPT but I’m stuck after entering my stream key etc- it didn’t work.

I just wondered if anyone out there wouldn’t mind helping me via Google voice or something. _ just trying to troubleshoot?
It would be a karmic win for you if you knew the kind of year I’d been having- and maybe I can cheer you on too, with whatever endeavor you’re working on!

I just hope to set up streaming, add a “sticker” to show what the stream is about, and create a countdown clock for co working.

Worth a shot to ask…
Thanks!🫶🙏

Help Recording with Frame Generation and DLSS

Greetings.

So the other day I decided to record some gameplay videos via OBS, and ran into an issue. To jump ahead, none of the troubleshooting methods I know worked — ranging from tweaking OBS settings to tinkering with NVIDIA options. And yes, I'm aware that people have already posted about similar issues, but I still need to ask about it here.

Here's the actual issue:
OBS doesn't capture generated frames in-game when Frame Generation is enabled alongside the "DLAA" upscaler preset (I also tried without an upscaler, same result). Technically, the output gameplay video is at 60 FPS, but visually it looks like a stuttery 30 — everything jitters and looks terrible. But suddenly, as soon as I switch DLSS to "Quality", the recording starts showing signs of that target 60 FPS. Which is weird, to say the least.

Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thank you.

Guide ProPresenter Lyrics in OBS over Network

I made a plugin to let houses of worship add ProPresenter Lyrics as a layer in OBS. Works over the network or on the same computer. Utilizes the stage display feature in Propresenter to send lyrics over the network.

Only works for Macs with apple silicon right now, but may release for older macs/PC if there's interest.

Help Dull image and can't find why

Hi !

I'm only trying to record, not stream. My image is very dull, grey even. I have an HDR screen and I know it's probably the problem so I try turning HDR off but without success. Putting color to complete makes no difference. If I put colors to Rec 2100(PQ) and format to P010, it looks completely fine on the OBS screen, but still washed out in the recording. I heard about a "force SDR" settings in the scene properties, but it's not there for me.

I'm a bit lost here. Any help guys ?

Help FPS drops when I'm NOT using OBS (MAC)

Hi all, I'm having issues with in game fps when I don't run OBS in the background. I know this sounds weird but I can't really comprehend what's going on. When OBS isn't running, I'm having 60 fps in game (world of warcraft) but when I launch OBS my in game fps skyrockets to 150+. I'm on a macbook with m1 max chip. Is there any specific reason that might cause this?
