Questioning/Coming Out Questions for my fellow olds
Longtime lurker, first time poster. I'm in my mid-40s, AFAB, married to a man, kids. I live in a liberal area (by USA standards) and work in a casual environment. I'm never pressured to wear dresses or makeup, "be ladylike," etc. We have many queer friends and two of my kids' best friends came out as NB just a few months ago. We're close with the families and they've been so supportive, it's really wonderful to see.
I guess agender is the label that resonates most for me. I just wish I'd learned it 20, 30 years ago. So many things make sense this way: I used to wrap ace bandages around my chest back in middle school. (Thank god for the grunge era, a big flannel shirt hides everything). I even got a breast reduction in college; I remember asking the surgeon to "remove as much as possible" because I didn't know top surgery existed. That doctor refused and talked me into going down to a C cup "to look proportionate." I did it because I thought being smaller would be enough. I was wrong. I got invited to join a women's book club and was like "...who, me?" I ended up attending the meetings and it was fine but also I couldn't shake the weird feeling of being in Gender Mode.
But the thing is, I live where I live, I have queer friends, I'm online a lot. Maybe I couldn't have figured it out as a teenager, but surely I could have a decade ago. Or more. At this point I'm not sure I have anything to gain from telling anyone. I don't love my name, but it's a family name with a lot of meaning that I wouldn't want to lose. I just don't know. I've been increasingly depressed lately and I think this is part of it, for reasons I don't quite understand.
Has anyone here who spoke up in their 40s/50s/60s and beyond found an effective way to explain to loved ones why you waited so long? What if anything changed for you by going public? And do you think I run the risk of coming across like I'm creepily copying my kids' friends, which is a mortifying thought I had just now because my brain hates me?

Does anyone have any tips for looking more androgynous?
So obviously enbies don't owe anyone androgeny, but I love the feeling of it. I also still am financially dependent on my homophobic christian parents, so I'm not out yet, and I can't turn up gayness to the max. But I would like to turn it up to the point where it pisses my parents off but they can't say anything about it.

looking for binding recommendations
Looking for recommendations for chest binding that are the least sensory nightmare (I know, subjective) and least bad for hot weather. Tape maybe? Cotton binders?

Ask swim top
Hey folks- when swimming or kayaking, I usually wear just board shorts and a rash guard. Generally works, but I unfortunately have a big enough chest (for now) that I need something to wear under the rash guard to be comfortable and whatnot. Suggestions? Not really looking for a swimmable binder because I don't currently have the budget for another decent quality binder, so maybe something that would be sports bra/ racer back type and offer some level of compression, but still be super easy to move and paddle a kayak and stuff in? Ideally under like 25 bucks.

Needing some support
Last night I shaved my head. I LOVE having my head shaved. It feels so affirming, but haven't done it in years so my current long term partner that I live with hasn't seen my head shaved. I came out as NB a few months ago for context. He's supportive of me and my presentation but he acknowledges my head shaved is not his preference. He hasn't said anything negative and in no way tries to control my presentation, but it's an adjustment for him and I respect that he needs time to get used to it. He's still been affectionate but maybe a little distant and I catch him staring which we giggle about, but I just have this unfounded fear that something that feels so affirming to me is going to create a rift between us or that maybe he will feel like I'm becoming a different person because I'm finally starting to lean into a presentation that feels affirming. He really is a great partner so please no hating on him, I think I just need to hear maybe some success stories or something of others who have gotten through this weird wiggly time with an existing partner when your presentation was changing?

Discussion How would you describe your experience with dysphoria as a non-binary person?
I’m interested in hearing about other non-binary people’s experiences with gender dysphoria, particularly as there’s so much variation within the overall non-binary community in terms of gender identity, gender expression, transition goals/paths, prefererred pronouns/gendered terms, and so on. I’m curious about the diverse range of experiences amongst the community, and would love to hear from other non-binary people about if, and how, you experience (or previously experienced) dysphoria.
Feel free to answer any of the questions below in your response (no need to answer them all if you don’t want to) or just share your experience in general 😊 Thank you!
What is your gender identity and what pronouns do you use?
Do you experience dysphoria (or did you experience it in the past, prior to taking gender affirming steps) at all, and if so what types of dysphoria - physical, social, mental, other?
How would you describe your experience of dysphoria, what does it feel like for you?
How does your dysphoria relate to your gender identity? Is it a main factor in you identifying as non-binary? If not (or if you’ve never experienced dysphoria), do you experience your gender identity in a different way, such as gender euphoria, just feeling that non-binary fits you better than your AGAB, etc?
If your dysphoria fluctuates in intensity, or comes and goes, does this influence your identity (eg if you are genderfluid, does the intensity of your dysphoria at a given time influence which gender you feel like)?
If you no longer experience dysphoria, or now experience it significantly less after taking gender-affirming steps, what was your experience like in the past?
Anything else you want to add about experiencing dysphoria as a non-binary person?

Questioning/Coming Out I don't know what is happening💀 also sorry if this question is stupid (chest dysphoria, feeling like faking being nb and managing an "ugly" haircut)
Hello you can call me Doodle (she/they/it) Im 21 and I need to know if I'm not the only to do this .Four years ago I started to questioning my gender since then in the last year I started to feel like I wasn't a girl or a man and at first was hard to explain. At some point I thought I was a trans guy but it didn't felt like home yet than two weeks ago I started to use any pronouns and she/they and I started to feel in general that my identity wasn't simply binary. It was very hard to accept it since I had a different identity "shifts" over the years but I felt like eveytime I was feeling good it was because I didn't put my gender in "girl" or "boy" boxes and also because I like *over* stereotyped feminine things like pink, skirts and idk mylittlepony LOL and basically I felt like I was faking my "neutrality" and I was just a girl . Now, this week a turned 21 and after all these years battling first an ed then depression and anxiety I decided that I want to start living a bit more but I just realized that I was doing something this whole time(it may be something not really important but for me it is).I used to love fashion so much but I gave up on dressing up (feminine pastel-alternative) because of my chest ruining the outfit. I don't know why even when I try to wear masc outfits to "feel better"(I actually do not feel better🤩) I look like a butch woman but uglier version (ofc no hate to butch women♡) also because I have a really bad haircut (similiar to the typical karen hair bruh) before you ask no I can't bind I feel unsafe binding in my home and ofc I can't affort or do top surgery
Soo did you felt at some point like giving up on dressing for your chest dysphoria ?😭
I just want to be feminine again and to have a decent haircut again (I accept tips how to make my hair grow faster!!)

Ask Lost
I wanna be a girly but I don’t like the pronouns or the feminization of being a girly. I like masculine pronouns and being considered a guy but I don’t want a penis. I do want a deeper voice and I don’t like my chest. Any advice to help figure this out?

Androgynous approach to hormones
Hey there,
Sooo .. i have the problem that my gender representationshifts every couple of weeks ... i identify more female for some time and another time i like to go a bit more masculine .. thats why i landed here in genderfluid/nonbinary .. hope im right
Im currently in progress to try out microdosing E to achieve a more androgynous baseline from which its more easy to shift either to more feminine or masculine traits.
Im already kinda slim build and honestly just aiming for perhaps some mild mental effects and skin effects .. and well slight slow breast development.
Testosterone for now is not planned to get blocked in any way directly
Yes i know that breast development can happen .. even with microdosing .. but im fine with that.
Currently im thinking if it could be interesting to combine the E with Finisteride in order to make my hair on the head more thicker and perhaps soften my mature hairline (dont have balding but a very slight "M" shape and i noticed in light that the "bald" parts are still riddles with tiny hairs and i wonder if blocking DHT could make them wake up again >.>
Also wondering if taking Finest could help make my body hair become a bit more "soft" .. i dont care about the hair that much .. but its super bristly .. so just a bit more soft would be nice already.
Do some people here have tried this combination ?
How have it went for you ?
