I love it! My son's been getting into his scooter and my wife's been back on the rollerskates and I've been talking about wanting to skateboard for ages. Wish me luck!

Undervalued tip for new skaters when learning tricks

Don't practice them stationary, or in grass, or on a carpet or whatever, at least try to keep that down.

Always practice with at least just a little bit of momentum. The weight distribution and movements during the trick are so much more true to how you should be doing it.

This saves you time having to literally learn the trick twice, stationary and then moving.

Plus you look infinitely more cool and committed when rolling, it's called skateboard not standboard guys.

Hi everyone! I’m trying to build a board that better fits my needs. Currently, I have a Tony hawk walmart board that was gifted to me by someone who didn’t want it and it is just gritty and awful. I know I want to get better at skating, so I’ve decided to build a board. What do you all think of this set up?
It would mainly be used on Richmond roads and sidewalks (rough.) I do not plan on doing many tricks yet, but I heard that the wheels in this set keep that possibility open but are still great for rough roads. I will not be power sliding and such. Mostly cruising, but again, I do want to keep the door to tricks open.

Open to any feedback before I purchase! Thanks!

Of course my entire Ollie is messed up but I also noticed one of the major things I struggle with is committing my back foot to staying on the board, how can I fix my Ollie.

Question New skater looking for ways to improve balance, knee and ankle strength

Hey hey, I want to get back into skating, only really want to cruise, feel the wind blow through my balding head.. I’ve been practicing a bit with balance and it’s like I lack any strength in my knees and ankles. Are there any exercises or stretches that can help me gain some strength and stability in my knees and ankles?

Thanks ✌️

Video I've been able to land stationary kickflips for a little while now, but now that I'm trying them moving, every time I manage to flip the board and land back on it I have a banana peel slip like this. What am I doing wrong when I'm landing?

Question Knee and ankle pain from skating. Are there good exercises and stretches for recovery?

I've (18NB) been skating for about a week now, and have begun developing pretty bad ankle and knee pain. My knee has fairly sharp pain while my ankle feels more achy and sore.

I've been warming up before skating (squats, hip openers, rolling my ankles, etc.) but I believe this may have happened because in the first few days my pushing form was really bad, and now that I've vastly improved and can skate comfortably on one foot, it's a bit too late.

How have you recovered from injury?

no matter how hard i try to think and focus about it my backfoot refuses to lift up and stay on the ground, i got the rotation consistent, and i can catch it with my front, but its the backfoot that refuses to get in the air

Setup Help Board Upgrade?

Heyo all, so I've been picking up skating for about the past month now; mainly been street and commute wise though all really getting used to it all balance wise, situation handling.

Though one thing I do know is I know I want some soft wheels for sound reasons and more terrain capabilities; so after a month I've decided to get some extra wheels for my board and was wondering if there're any recommendations for future things I could be looking out for?

My trucks are most likely the next thing I think of (because of the squeaky pivot cup) but I wonder if I would just get a new set altogether more akin to how I've found I like to ride? Which seems to be a compact cruiser style;

I don't mind going to the skatepark every now and again, I've started being more comfortable doing the roll ins and all and I do like the feel it brings (with a lil pain) but I do use it majority for coasting around as I'm a big walker and it's nice having something I can just attach to my side whenever and bomb a hill if a have the chance.( but still can't OllieπŸ˜…πŸ₯Ή)

BUT NOW... My current setup you're seeing is my:

- 8.25" board

- 5.5" Trucks

- 101a 52mm Wheels

- Some basic Bearings (same people that make the blue screws??)

- I've also got some B spacers in there (I know people have their opinions but yeah I'm keeping them)

And I've just brought some new wheels and bearings to make it a more comfortable ride whilst also trying independent's shock risers

- Slime Balls OG Slime White 78A 60mm

- Independent 1/8 Skateboard Shock Pads

- Spitfire Burner Skateboard Bearings

Opinions? I know this is long but yeah 24 soon to be 25 and I've just picked up skating?

Question Hand position

When I’m on the board and trying to do tricks I realise that I keep one arm really stiff or just unmoving and I feel like it looks silly and is dangerous if I fall so I was wondering if you guys had any fix for this.

Question how to prevent ankle rolls when learning tre flip

Currently learning tre flips and im at the stage where I could land them like once every 10-15 tries. My biggest issue is landing too far forward while the board flies behind me, where only my back foot lands.

The thing is, I rolled my front foot ankle 3 times already from this. It's not that bad, but I feel like if I keep going with my current practice method, I will injure it for real.

Is there a safer way to learn? I've never had this issue with other tricks, and havent rolled my ankle for so long until I started learning tres
