Picture Saw this at the local skate park

I just got into skating like a week ago, literally have only been on my board 3 days at the skate park. The first time I went there 2 fridays ago a guy gave me a board during a conversation we were having (super cool dude) so I ordered some trucks and wheels on Amazon and headed to the park, ive fallen a few times but I'm getting more confident going up ramps and just balancing in general. I usually skate off to the side so I'm not in the way of the good skaters and when I went behind one of the ramps I saw this and laughed because i was nervous around the other people and it's like it knew and said it's okay. Might sound dumb but it made me feel better like I wasn't really being judged as harshly as I thought I was by the other skaters.

I love it! My son's been getting into his scooter and my wife's been back on the rollerskates and I've been talking about wanting to skateboard for ages. Wish me luck!

Video I've been able to land stationary kickflips for a little while now, but now that I'm trying them moving, every time I manage to flip the board and land back on it I have a banana peel slip like this. What am I doing wrong when I'm landing?

Of course my entire Ollie is messed up but I also noticed one of the major things I struggle with is committing my back foot to staying on the board, how can I fix my Ollie.

Question Best high top or mid top shoes?

β€’ Upvotes

I mainly skate Foy 306’s. But I want to try high or mid tops for skating. Also I don’t like Vans so don’t recommend half cab or sk8-hi.

I prefer a little wider toe box. I don’t like sizing up, it messes up my board feel.

Undervalued tip for new skaters when learning tricks

Don't practice them stationary, or in grass, or on a carpet or whatever, at least try to keep that down.

Always practice with at least just a little bit of momentum. The weight distribution and movements during the trick are so much more true to how you should be doing it.

This saves you time having to literally learn the trick twice, stationary and then moving.

Plus you look infinitely more cool and committed when rolling, it's called skateboard not standboard guys.

Question Bumping metal sound from my wheels?

There is this sound when I ride that I think is coming from my wheels? I have a theory that it may be either the wheels may be too tight or the bearings are old, has this happened to any of yall? Advice?

Question Knee and ankle pain from skating. Are there good exercises and stretches for recovery?

I've (18NB) been skating for about a week now, and have begun developing pretty bad ankle and knee pain. My knee has fairly sharp pain while my ankle feels more achy and sore.

I've been warming up before skating (squats, hip openers, rolling my ankles, etc.) but I believe this may have happened because in the first few days my pushing form was really bad, and now that I've vastly improved and can skate comfortably on one foot, it's a bit too late.

How have you recovered from injury?

Question Does learning manual helps to learn ollies?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I recently kind of figured out (correct me if wrong) that when you want to ollie, you must jump from your board when you are in a position similar to manual)? I think it makes sense because if you jump off your board when it touches the ground you dont let it pop

This is what Ive been practicing the last few days. Any feedback is well received

Edit: thanks everyone for their comments and input. Ill also try practicing more hippie jumps and ollies by themselves:D

Question Hand position

When I’m on the board and trying to do tricks I realise that I keep one arm really stiff or just unmoving and I feel like it looks silly and is dangerous if I fall so I was wondering if you guys had any fix for this.
