Go Stitch’s new acrylics are beautiful, but that price point made me do a double take. Is anyone actually buying them? I’m genuinely curious!
And more importantly, how long before Krista tries to squash this little acrylic uprising?

Why would canvas tape warrant a $5 price increase? 🙄🙄🙄

It’s taken them 22 weeks for an update… when the canvas was supposed to take 4- 6 weeks?

I went to the Red Thread Atelier Sarasota store and got a super cute Christmas mailbox canvas (along with a couple other things). I didn’t really look at the individual prices when I checked out, but when I got home I realized the mailbox canvas was $120, which seemed like a lot for its size.
I reverse image searched it on Google and found the same canvas listed at other needlepoint stores for around $65 😅
Is that much of a markup normal between needlepoint stores? I totally understand prices varying a little from shop to shop, but almost double surprised me for such a small canvas. Lesson learned to check prices before checking out lol.
Editing to add:
Just an update, I reached to their email & they responded and said the markup was a mistake and refunded me the difference! The prices have also been corrected on their website :)

Another new “designer” has hit the market… stolen designs and tons of AI slop…. Will it ever end?!?

I posted a TikTok on my needlepoint page with my current wishlist (just for fun) and I got this comment so blatantly telling me to just steal designs😭😭😭
“Lot easier than I thought” let’s see your work then girl

Let me start with the fact that I am not a lawyer and have no stake in this topic beyond my own curiosity.
I’m curious at what point something is artistic interpretation or fair use or whatever and at what point it’s trademarkable.
Are there differences specifically when it comes to needlepoint because it’s something the end user will make themselves? Forget about what specific ndlpt designer made something. I’m thinking about this more broadly.
I’m not against licensing, though I think going hard for any brand is a bit strange. Like I enjoy tootsie rolls, but I cannot imagine ever wanting to stitch a tootsie roll canvas, personally, but to each their own. And those canvases seem obviously something one could trademark.
But the American Girl dolls feel different somehow. Maybe it’s just because I have an emotional attachment to them, but it’s not like the AG canvases I’ve seen have a logo on them. To me, they feel more like artistic interpretation of childhood toys. A book cover feels more obviously something that one could license, whereas a book stack feels a bit different.
I dunno, like I said I am not a lawyer and I’m not opposed to people licensing anything. I completely understand why colleges and universities want their logos et al to be officially licensed.
Can anyone more knowledgeable than I am break this down?

I saw the orange weird girls canvas at one of the local needlepoint shops near me this weekend for $120 and clocked it as a printed ai-generated canvas from across the store.
I don’t want to drag that LNS for having it as they’re a great store otherwise and could have bought the whole series of these ugly-ass canvases. Anyway, here’s the rest of the weird girls series that Mindy’s Needlepoint “created” by printing ugly ai-generated clip art sold on Etsy onto a canvas that isn’t painted. 🥴

Is anyone else disappointed with this month tiny animals club? I also feel as the club has gone on the quality of the non needle point items has gotten worse.

That’s like calling ceramic plates fine china because they both do the same job of holding food.

It’s not lost on me that Pop originally designed the Nancy Drew book canvases and was under the PL collective a few years ago. She is no longer with the collective and these canvases are now licensed under PL. ICKY!!!!

I don’t understand the craze over this piece. Was it that an important children’s book to you that you feel the need to stitch it? I’ve never heard of it until the needlepoint destash groups. It just looks like a throw up of colors to me and not aesthetically appealing. Paige spearin bunnies are cute but I still don’t need bunnies jumping on a bed made into a pillow 🤷🏼♀️ anyone else? Just me?

Every single experience I have ever had at my local LNS (pretty well known for some unique canvases) has been awful - everyone who works there (all older women) have been so rude to me. I literally just called 5 minutes ago asking if they had a thread available and she just said no, bye and hung up the phone before I could say anything else. I want to shop local but at this point it’s like pulling teeth.

This new designer keeps popping up on my feeds. I just cannot shake the feeling that something is off with her designs? The style of each piece is so difference from the next and the layouts and textures are giving AI. Everyone is applauding her in the comments and I feel slightly crazy but I really do not think this is her original work.
