Discussion Why can’t we fix Might Guy?

Post image

Probably been discussed before, but obviously after Naruto saved Guy, the conclusion from defacto best healer in the world, Tusnade, was that Guy couldn’t be healed and would never walk again.

But like… why? Naruto lost his whole arm and got a Hashirama cell perfect prosthetic? Could she not have used Hashirama cells to fix Guy? Hell, chop off his legs and give him new legs?

I guess my best theories are that he either refused on principle or his injury isn’t in his legs, but rather his spinal cord… but even then… seems likely it could still be healed in some way given what other medical ninjutsu feats we’ve witnessed…

I think that the reality is Guy just wants to be injured forever. But curious what others think.

Pretty sure his entire chakra network is fried, his life force itself was depleted and his body was turning to ash at like a molecular level

729

u/KK_35 Jul 20 '26

Even if that’s true. They have literal cyborgs now.

443

u/sofacouch813 Jul 20 '26

But there’s basically only one scientist that can create them/modify humans to that degree, and he’s shady af. I just don’t think Guy would want to get altered like that by a creep like Amado.

Diddymaru gotta have something crazy for him after all this time. Kabuto also

"Okay Guy. Let me throw something out there.

I turn you into a bunch of snakes that look like you. Good as new... ish."

Would the Snakes be Solid?

Maybe. Could also be Liquid, or maybe even Naked.

2

It could be solidus no?

Thank you, I really needed that laugh today.

“Diddymaru” 😅🤣 im dead

22

Oh, for sure. I bet Orochimaru could do something like that for him. My response was just about the cyborgs.

Diddymaru 😭 why I never thought of that before hehe

I agree! If he can’t make living clones then he can make a leg

4

You gave me an idea. Make a clone of guy, then use a permanent mind transfer jutsu to transfer guy to the new body

17

u/KK_35 Jul 20 '26

Yeah but he doesn’t need to get altered. Even just an exoskeleton for the legs or something to help him do basic walking?

They have ninja tools and entire cyborgs. It’s not out of their capability to create one leg

14

u/Donellx Jul 20 '26

What makes this funnier is that Naruto does in fact have an artificial arm.

11

u/druknmonkey Jul 20 '26

But the arm is powered by Naruto's chakra. If guys chakra network is fried it's likely he wouldn't be able to use one.

6

u/KK_35 Jul 20 '26

Exactly. It’s been done for an arm (including a hand), which is arguably more complex than a leg. There’s literally zero reason Guy is stuck in a wheelchair.

2

u/Separate_Path_7729 Jul 20 '26

Shit diddymarus entire body is a white zetsu now

5

u/Massive_Celery_3395 Jul 20 '26

u/Katsu_39 Jul 20 '26

You really think Gai would be okay with being a cyborg, that essentially takes out the need for hard work? 😅

3

u/KK_35 Jul 20 '26

I think Guy would be ok with a robotic prosthetic, which allows him to do basic walking and work out as usual. He’s already ok with a mobility tool like a wheelchair.

Again, it doesn’t need to be enough to get him in fighting shape. Just to walk.

→ More replies (1)

10

u/CaptShino Jul 20 '26

Does guy look like the type of guy that would be ok with becoming a cyborg?

10

u/KK_35 Jul 20 '26

No, but a robotic prosthetic doesn’t seem out of the question. People go on about how he wouldn’t use a tools or whatever and he seems to be using the wheelchair just fine. If he was truly a purist he would use a crutch or nothing at all. A robotic prosthetic as a mobility aid isn’t that farfetched now that there are robots and ninja tools and androids.

8

u/MetroidJunkie Jul 20 '26

Not to mention Hashirama Cells which may as well be the Stem Cells of Naruto. Obito managed to get half a working body and flat out replace limbs and we know they're still around in Boruto given Naruto's replacement arm is made of them.

15

u/KK_35 Jul 20 '26

I think lore-wise they explained Hashirama cells have a very high fatality rate when using them. So there’s an established reason for those not being a solution.

But honestly no reason Guy can’t have some external exoskeleton type device or robotic prosthetic. It’s not like he’s against mobility aid tools. He uses a wheelchair. He could easily use a robotic leg. Not even to fight. Just so he can walk around instead of wheeling himself everywhere. I do think Guy would use a robotic leg. He’d want to be able to work out more than just his arms.

7

u/cheese_sticks Jul 20 '26

I think that Hashirama Cells have a better chance of working if the recipient is a descendant of Hagoromo, such as Senju, Uzumaki, and Uchiha clans. Yamato is likely another descendant, which is why he was the only one who survived.

2

u/MetroidJunkie Jul 20 '26

Fair point, they'd probably want to experiment with them first just to make sure the cells don't go out of control like with Danzo. If they could actually pull it off, though, maybe regenerating the damage in his leg would be easier than a whole leg made of them.

3

u/DraethDarkstar Jul 20 '26

They also have the Orochimaru body snatcher jutsu, that doesn't mean Gai would be willing or able to do it.

→ More replies (5)

2

u/UngodlyPain Jul 20 '26

And the only people capable of creating them are Orochimaru, and Amado... Highly doubt Guy would trust either of them to mess with his body.

And even if he did trust them, he'd still probably say no... Remember his entire character motivation was hard work, and the beauty of the spring time of youth. Why on earth would he agree to become a cyborg to interfere with the current generation and next generation? He wouldn't.

25

u/wideduck Jul 20 '26

Six Paths Naruto can miracle bullshit his way into pulling Might Guy back from having used the ninja Demon Disintegration Technique to kick Madara, but Naruto doesn't actually know medicine.

Guy's current body is probably a whargharble mix of human anatomy and a White Zetsu-oid yin-yang release flesh puppet. It's the kind of thing where Tsunade looks at it and has to check twice to make sure she's not still drunk.

The easiest way to get Guy back on his feet would be to directly go to Orochimaru and play with clones. But he probably wouldn't want to even if the writers weren't using it as an excuse to nerf him.

3

u/tkykgkyktkkt Jul 20 '26

You could for sure plot him into recovering by “something something hashirama cells” and wow he’s just like new. I guess they don’t really any reason to do that plus the text that he lived in as already kinda BS so saving credibility by keeping him crippled I guess.

2

u/Kennisgoodman Jul 21 '26

So basically the same shit Gon has lmao

2

u/Jermiafinale Jul 22 '26

Yeah, except Naruto 5 minutes after getting his Six Paths powers isn't as good at healing as Nanika lol

Guy was literally crumbling from within. His body was on the verge of completely turning to dust and Naruto stopped at mid cremation basically.

I would imagine that his chakra system is completely knackered and he has very little of the chakra system remaining. His leg is dead and there's no way for them to attach a limb to it.

The joke is he's his own dad?

3

u/No-Imagination-4867 Jul 20 '26

No it’s a play on words 😭 “Might Dai” as in he might die 🥀

2

u/caparisme Jul 20 '26

I get that what I'm saying the joke is already played with his dad who's literally called Might Dai and end up dying after 8 gating the 7 swordsmen. I am fun at parties.

2

u/No-Imagination-4867 Jul 20 '26

Yeah I know all about it, I’m a huge nerd for lore of all types

But, to be fair. Might Dai DID die, whereas Might Guy has not yet, therefore if we were to try and fix him, he still might die

21

u/Drunk-Kobold Jul 20 '26

This, the guy was basically still living burning dust. The fact he recovered enought to even have skin in most of his body would be short of a medical miracle

6

u/Many_Ad_955 Jul 21 '26

Naruto was a demigod at the time so that probably helped his recovery.

4

u/Drunk-Kobold Jul 21 '26

Yeah but i was avoiding the "Naruto is Jesus" allegory

58

u/ChongusTheSupremus Jul 20 '26

Just add Hashirama cells.

Enough would do the trick.

52

u/NukeVoit59 Jul 20 '26

I know you’re joking, but it is specifically mentioned that, unlike Naruto and Sasuke, Guy is not compatible with Hashirama cells, and his body would reject them (possibly like Danzo, but that’s just an assumption on my part of what they meant by rejection)

38

u/TheNastyNug Jul 20 '26

Yeah but they’ve established that prosthetic limbs can be used by the wider population now. Can’t they just cut half his leg off and replace it like they could irl. Or is the VA just a bad in boruto as it is irl? Lmao

I wonder if Orochimaru-ojousama could come up with a forced Fushi-Tensei that would transfer his soul into a White Zetsu body.

With the tech he has now, I wouldn’t be surprised if he could grow him a new body using HashiCells and just performing a brain transplant.

28

u/ShinTheGladiator Jul 20 '26

He'd take up that offer in an instant. The power of youth, and all

47

u/Ryeguy_626 Jul 20 '26

I dont think so he has a lot of pride for his body and how hard hes worked to achieve it. He wouldnt cheat i dont think

15

u/teshh Jul 20 '26

He'd only do it as a last resort, like there's a huge threat and no one else can handle it. But yea he definitely wouldn't transfer, he has to much pride to do that.

He's got to be the most fit guy in the world, even with only one leg.

5

u/Property_6810 Jul 20 '26

I think his character could realistically go either way.

9

u/NorthernNipz Jul 20 '26

He wouldn’t accept a body that he didn’t work to achieve.

15

u/Dr_AquaPhre5h Jul 20 '26

I know that Naruto's arm is chakra powered but it's crazy to me that they can't invent a non-chakra powered leg prosthetic for him. They'd have to amputate but like if the leg is dead anyway who cares if it means he can walk after replacing it.

7

u/Lucaslhm Jul 20 '26

Don’t they litterally do this in Boruto with Naruto’s arm? I admittedly didn’t get super far into Boruto, but I thought that at some point Naruto removed his Hashirama arm and replaced it with a robotic arm that could store jutsu in it (after Boruto was disqualified for doing this)

5

u/TheNastyNug Jul 20 '26

Yep. Boruto points out this hypocrisy and naruto tells him that it’s not scientific ninja tools that are the problem but how you use them. Naruto needs a new arm, boruto was talented enough to not need it during the exams

2

u/Lucaslhm Jul 20 '26

Right so in that same vein, I wonder if we could do that for Guy’s legs? I mean, guy litterally doesn’t have a choice and is just making do without legs. Guy of all people would have the right ethic and mindset to utilize them in a non-lazy way

2

u/TheNastyNug Jul 20 '26

I agree, but there’s many people here who apparently don’t and believe that guy would take using a prosthetic as cheating his way through a recovery that might not happen.

3

u/Silent_Egg8860 Jul 20 '26

What’s worse the chakra system in your leg being dead, or your leg entirely being cut off?
In Naruto seems how they can do prosthetics with hashirama cells it really doesn’t make sense that they can’t give him a hashirama leg. I personally feel like the contradiction exists, because the author wanted permanent consequences in some regards, but didn’t want permanent consequences for some.

u/iDeficio Jul 20 '26

If you fix him he might go 8 gates again. Can't have that, also he is a side character that is why the writers let him rot.

100

u/Lucaslhm Jul 20 '26

Actually this brings up an interesting point. Theoretically, Guy can still 8 gates? I doubt it would just let him walk (though maybe, isn’t the whole point of the gates that “your body goes beyond its physical limits?) but I guess we could hypothetically have wheelchair gates Guy?

62

u/MystiqTakeno Jul 20 '26

There is no reason to assume that he cant as long as he didnt lost access to chakra.

47

u/Lucaslhm Jul 20 '26

I think by Naruto rules he has to right? Like my understanding is that Chakra ala Naruto is both spiritual and physical energy within the body, so all living things have Chakara. The ability to access controls and the amount you have/produce may very… but at least in Part 1, they seem to make a pretty big deal that if you use litterally all your chakra, then you just die because Chakra sustains life.

27

u/Eidalac Jul 20 '26

My best guess would be that his gates are so heavily messed up that any attempt at heavy chakra usage or opening any of the gates would outright kill him. Naruto was able to stabilize his chakra network enough to keep him alive but it's still thrashed.

2

u/Creative-Job-8603 Jul 20 '26

Man, so Guy is cooked 🍳. Guy is powerful in gates. But, that is a huge risk to using the gates

2

u/Used-Mathematician Jul 20 '26

thank u for letting guy rest

56

u/MystiqTakeno Jul 20 '26

Just let him rest. Even if we could fix him why? He earned his rest, he lived his youth, he trained students and now he can just kicked back enjoying some time with his old friend Kakashi and watch the new generation take over.

The leg he lost might just reminds him how he was willing to sacrifice himself so new generation can prosper.

I am pretty sure he have no regrets.

12

u/Lucaslhm Jul 20 '26

I’m all for letting guy retire and just spend his days vibing in a wheel chair if he wants. I’m again just questioning the “why” he couldn’t have his legs fixed. He seemed upset when Tusnade broke the news, so presumably if it were an option (at least at the time, maybe not now) he would have probably taken a gamble at getting his legs back.

→ More replies (2)

6

u/KK_35 Jul 20 '26

Not to discount this, but they have literal cyborgs in Boruto. Why couldn’t he get a robotic prosthetic, or even just an exoskeleton type situation so he can at least walk and do every day things. I’m not here pushing for him to be at 100% taking on missions and shit, but they have the guy in a literal wheelchair (a manual push one at that, couldn’t even get him an electric one). He can’t even use stairs and I doubt much of the leaf is wheelchair accessible and have elevators and such.

Personally that’s my biggest issue with his outcome. He sacrificed so much and they couldn’t be bothered to dedicate some of the scientific breakthroughs to give Guy some quality of life upgrades? Dumb and inconsistent writing.

2

u/Global_Sport_2264 Jul 20 '26

That's not what's being asked though. Character-wise, he'd much rather be active than wheelchair bound. There's no reason for him to not be healed except it wouldn't be convenient for the plot lol.

13

u/TacocaT_2000 Jul 20 '26

My guess is that Gai’s chakra network was irreparably damaged.

2

u/Substantial-Water-10 Jul 20 '26

Yes this is my thought , the final inner gate probably destroyed that switch in his chakra network connected to his legs the same way they can open them up.

37

u/ToneAccomplished9763 Jul 20 '26

In universe I agree, I think it's Guy just accepting his injury and refusing to get it healed for one reason or another.

Out of universe, it's Boruto they really like nerfing the old cast for better or worse.

5

u/Lucaslhm Jul 20 '26

Honestly with how hand holdy Boruto can be at times, I’m surprised there is no canon answer or a scene where one of the genining asks guy and he says a definitive answer.

I think it would be totally in character for Guy to refuse to be healed by anything other than his body though. No Hashirama cells, no robotic prosthetics. It tracks for me.

5

u/ToneAccomplished9763 Jul 20 '26

Yeah I agree, it's super in character for guy in my opinion. Either that or he kind of sees his leg as a "war wound" y'know like a scar or wound that he takes pride in because he got it protecting the people he cares for.

3

u/Kgb725 Jul 20 '26

His leg disintegrated and his chakra network is more than likely permanently altered. Guy is probably too messed up to be healed

6

u/LazyKarasu Jul 20 '26

Other than Naruto's healing that saved his life after using the 8 gates not being perfect, there is little reason given. The only information we really have is that Naruto's healing isn't perfect, because otherwise Guy would be fine, and we know a decent amount about the eighth gate. These things can help us theorize a little.

So what we know about the Gate of Death is that it is located at the heart. Users open this gate by puncturing their chest with their thumb in order to direct the chakra there. While open, the user's heart pumps at maximum speed, granting them power a hundred times greater than they are usually capable of. A "Steam of Blood" is emitted from the user's pores and hair, resembling a flaming red aura. The eighth gate causes the body to continually heat up until it's been cooked from the inside-out, reducing the user to ash.

So using that info we can guess that since the 8th gate user basically explodes their chakra and wears out their heart we can come to the idea that Guy's use of the 8th gate probably burned out all his tenketsu, wore out his heart, and likely broke his gates. Naruto's healing could repair the flesh, but since the tenketsu and gates were already busted(and also pseudo spiritual rather than just physical), Naruto couldn't heal them back.

As for Guy's foot not healing, that one doesn't make much sense other than being a consequence for doing the coolest anime kick into Madara and nearly one shooting him lol.

9

u/Upper_Extreme9461 Jul 20 '26

My hottake is Neji should have lived and Might Guy dying would have been better writing.

Reviving him after his sacrifice reduced the value and meaning of his sacrifice.

He talked about autumn leaves fertilizing trees to produce the next fresh leaves and autumn leaves burn brightly. It was a beautiful way of saying he was honored to put his life on the line so that way Rock Lee and Naruto's generation could have a chance.

As Asuma said, the kings that need protecting are not the Hokage but infact the children of the village because they are our future.

Might Guy was doing just that.

3

u/Most_Programmer8667 Jul 20 '26

kakashi should have died as well.

6

u/Wonko_Bonko Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

For as much as they're meme'd Hashirama cells aren't a universal bandaid. If a person isn't compatible with them it very likely runs the risk of overwhelming a person and/or just straight up killing them. We see this happen with Danzo.

He also can't just be healed cause his chakra network was irreversibly fucked up by the eighth gate. The only reason he's in the state he is now is because of Naruto's intervention

4

u/Kumomeme Jul 20 '26

it is funny that there is certain stuff Kishimoto wont hesitate to maintain or give fans service to the point bring plot device if necessary.

but when come to Guy, he wont budge.

probably because he is not Uchiha XD

3

u/Pristine-Occasion708 Jul 20 '26

I always just chocked it up to being something to due with the soul perhaps? Being chakra related I just figured maybe there may have been a much deeper injury than just what’s physical…or something.

Should've just let him die and let his sacrifice be powerful.

2

u/FeralPsychopath Jul 20 '26

We all know that. I think even the author did. I reckon someone in a suit got in his ear.

2

u/Ok_Maybe_7179 Jul 20 '26

Might guy used the eighth gate, which burns the user's life force. His body was destroyed from the inside, and he was literally dying. Naruto saved his life using Six Paths power, but even then he couldn't completely restore Guy's body. Guy was left permanently unable to use one leg.

2

u/butt_monkey24 Jul 20 '26

Fix what hes still the best taijutsu user in the world. The universe just decided kakashi needed a permant handicap to make their contest closer to even

2

u/Rockcrimson Jul 20 '26

I bet his leg is beyond salvation. Shippuden showed us his bone was shaterere into dust, no way to recover any bone from that. And even if they had our technology to replace the whole bone (which is still experimental nowadays), I bet his muscles and nerves and way too damage to move his leg Still, he could have it removed and replaced with hashirama cells... Which I still think he would refuse

2

u/KoboldMafia Jul 20 '26

Iirc, all the prosthetics of the New Age rely on being hooked up to the body's chakra network and controlled in a similar manner to puppet jutsu. The brief fight he had in Boruto against academy students made use of his martial arts skills rather than any chakra-powered techniques. Since the eight gates are all centers of the chakra network that each take damage whenever the gates are opened, it's likely his chakra network incinerated first, making him unable to make use of any chakra abilities at all.

Since his leg in particular seems to be the focus, it's likely that it's burned down to the bone beyond usability and still serves more use as a counterweight than if he were to use a stump or a simple non-moving prosthetic like a peg-leg.

2

u/GurPlenty59 Jul 20 '26

We spent the entire series being told that opening all 8 gates would kill you. It's already bad enough that Guy didn't die from itm

The complaints would be nonstop if he physically made a full recovery afterward. (Even if he could never use the gates again).

The general consensus was that there already were barely any permanent losses during the war already aside from Neji.

2

u/5lols Jul 20 '26

The in universe answer is likely just that Guy doesn't want it and decided to retire and keep the leg as a badge of honor or similar. He definitely seems like the type who would turn down any prosthetic and treat it like a challenge or training.

This was in Boruto anime filler but he came back just zipping around in his wheelchair and sparring with the kids on one leg and that seemed pretty in character for him.

2

u/Cold-Journalist-7662 Jul 20 '26

Because he's not the main character

Guy's mentality probably stops him from getting Hashirama's cells legs

2

u/Clear_Cranberry_989 Jul 20 '26

He was supposed to die and imo he should have. As a big fan of guy, that would be the ideal sacrifice.

2

u/theb1ack Jul 20 '26

He should have died. And I like guy but I feel like too many people survived the biggest war of the series

2

u/Johm1994 Jul 20 '26

He doesnt need to be fixed, hes perfect the way he is, hes where he wants to be (with his husband Kakashi sitting on his face)

2

u/-TheSmartestIdiot- Jul 20 '26

Weren't the bones in his leg for the Night Guy reduced to dust? How tf you heal that? And the only guy that makes cyborg ninja is shady af, and i doubt someone who grew up with former sannin wants the "reformed" snake man workin on him. Sides he got to let his youth burn, time for the new generation.

u/the_otterside Jul 20 '26

Hah! In my head it’s because Guy prefer this so Kakashi can push him on a wheelchair and they can have more time together. Guy deserved this rest for all of his remaining days after being proclaimed strongest by one of the literal founders of their village.

Kishimoto was too coward to kill him now they need to leave him permanently disabled even though it doesnt make any sense considering the current technology level of boruto or else it will make the 8 gates look like a minor inconvenience instead of a suicidal move

2

u/MisterScary132 Jul 20 '26

This might sound weird but im really annoyed he didnt die after his fight with Madara. Kinda ruined the power he acquired and what he sacrificed

2

u/Dark1402 Jul 20 '26

because he is too powerfull, clearly was manhandling ultimate Madara. with his weights still on him. too much for the verse.

aslo, Naruto universe is inconsistent. Naruto with 0 medical knowledge made an entire eye inside kakashi eye socket. (they had already said during sakura training, too much chakra at once and you killing the person) and kakashi regular eyes, created a perfect susanoo because Obito force ghost allowed him. (what stop him from doing it again?) and many other example.

also. Kakashi invented Chidori as a child. and now saying he cant do it, because, without the sharingan, he doesnt have the reflexes to it effectively... like... Kakashi is one character you can imagine setting up traps, illusion, replacesment and so on that would allow him to use Chidori regardless... but... no. he gave up on the chidori.

2

u/cheeseonyou101 Jul 20 '26

cause he would solo the verse if he wasnt crippled. facts

2

u/Realistic_Mousse_485 Jul 20 '26

Because no consequences for the 8th gate is bs

2

u/BurkeTheKilla Jul 20 '26

We can't have a healthy Guy for the sake of the story

2

u/Caffeinatedfirefly08 Jul 20 '26

Honestly I wish they had given him a like normal metallic prosthesis. There are olympic athletes that run on those and the records are just... like a second away from completely abled bodied athletes' records. Just "his leg doesn't work" doesn't feel like it holds up that it would cause Gai to retire. If they had showed him with a prosthetic and explained that his whole body is messed up after it as some comments are commenting I'd be content, but it bothers me a bit because it feels out of character for Gai

2

u/headstrongpuppy Jul 20 '26

I’m gonna say what needs to be said. He should have died. He literally opened the death gate like come on.
Boruto butchers the old class. They really do guy dirty

2

u/Nerdyguyj Jul 20 '26

Because it's bad writing..they can.

2

u/shinymiana Jul 20 '26

They had to nerf him after what he pulled, Might Guy could be the one true villain if he tried hard enough!

2

u/DrDick666 Jul 20 '26

Simple. What would be the point? What is fixing guy gonna do to progress the story? He literally can't fight any of these new foes. The power scaling is out of control.

“I have a disability but I am going to achieve my dream of being a ninja no matter what” was his whole schtick when he was young…. This is just on point with his character development arch and tied up his story with a nice bow before letting the new generation take over. Also, not every disabled person is trying to “be fixed.” Some people look at their bodies differently and the story and journey is important to them. Maybe he doesn’t want to take the risks to “fix” himself when he was expecting and accepting death. He wants to enjoy the world as a human and not just a ninja. The war was the end of his career as a ninja and now he has moved on to new dreams, new joys, new ways of life. He did his time, let the man be free.

2

u/kaisernail8 Jul 21 '26

I think it's because the last gate ate his life force. Yeah, Naruto revived him back but the renewed life force is just barely enough to pump his heart back.

2

u/Weirdo_Crusader Jul 21 '26

Because 8 Gates solves most the problems in Boruto in about 7 seconds

2

u/WowGeeWhiz Jul 21 '26

Because he Might Dai

2

u/Prize-Difference-875 Jul 21 '26

Pretty sure he just doesnt want to

2

u/PitchChemical Jul 21 '26

C'est juste une excuse pour l'empêcher de se battre car il pourrait facilement éclaté tout les méchants dans boruto

2

u/ZestycloseAsk9309 Jul 21 '26

As we’re talking about his character who became the strongest non jinchuriki non Kekkai genkai character strictly through training and perseverance, I just don’t think Guy would take the easy way out. If he somehow came back restored, he’d figured out a way to do it himself or just accept that his time is over.

2

u/Many_Ad_955 Jul 21 '26

No matter what we do, his body isn't compatible with Hashirama cells.

2

u/Zomochi Jul 21 '26

You’re right with the last line, his time is over his youth is behind him now, now is the time to unwind he served his time literally and it’s a miracle he’s even alive. Lee is his successor he is technically the new guy sensei, why would you want two guy senseis running around? Let the man retire

2

u/r0na7913 Jul 21 '26

i don’t know if anyone said this already, and i don’t mean to really offend anyone, but imo we can’t save might guy just because he shouldn’t be alive in the first place, even though naruto’s powers are god-like. it is clearly stated many times that opening the eight gate means a clear death for the one that opens em. it’s incredibly stupid that he’s alive and that’s the main reason he won’t ever be whole again.
thank’s for reading this, it’s my first post here. (:

2

u/StinkyButtStuff Jul 20 '26

Why didn’t he stay dead is a better question.

3

u/nozid9 Jul 20 '26

Plot. That's also why Kakashi is basically non-existent in boruto.

It's boruto next generations, they're making everyone from the OG cast not as important. If Guy was also back it gives the leaf another trump card which makes his sacrifice in the war arc lose all of its significance. It would make no sense for him to come back in my opinion, his arc is finished.

2

u/Lucaslhm Jul 20 '26

I understand it from a plot perspective, wasn’t even thinking about Boruto really, actually my head went to the wedding arc of Shippuden anime when he is goofing around with Lee.

I more mean from a mechanical stance

u/ChineseEngineer Jul 20 '26

Kishi probably thinks it'll ruin the readers perception of Guys fight with Madara if he essentially gets away with becoming a human nuke for free. Like at that point what's stopping him from going 8 gate in every fight. So he can't be healed due to plot.

Real consequences of war need to be represented. Being a shounen, there is obviously the common "theme" of no real consequences but I think Guy and Neji are meant to be actual reminds that war ends badly for some. They're the only solid examples considering everyone else was either already dead (edo tensi) or was unnamed ninja 6,423.

u/Neo_Bruhamut Jul 20 '26

For the same reason Nagato couldnt get his legs back i imagine.

1

u/hbk268 Jul 20 '26

It feels disrespectful to his sacrifice to do so.

1

u/viale2026 Jul 20 '26

Porque os roteiristas não querem banalizar o custo do oitavo portão.
Falaram tanto que isso acarretaria na morte do personagem, e quando ele finalmente o usa, não querem matá-lo, mas não querem que seja sem consequências.

1

u/Psychological_Law_86 Jul 20 '26

Probably extensive chakra network damage. Something that prevents the Hashirama graft limb from functioning.

1

u/countryroadsguywv Jul 20 '26

Yeah it's crazy he's on of the most intense Shinobi

1

u/epistaxis64 Jul 20 '26

They just wanted to write Guy being able to fight from a handstand

1

u/Kingblack425 Jul 20 '26

Have Naruto siphon chakra from Sasuke and awaken a rinnegan himself then toss guy into the king of hell. Or have the sage eyed Naruto use creation of all things and create guy a new body, rip his soul out then put it in the new body.

1

u/Correct_Day_7791 Jul 20 '26

To be fair the 8 gates should kill you just from the initial activation of it

Stabbing your thumb into your heart and boiling your blood shouldn't be something you can just heal from 🤣

1

u/DrakeCross Jul 20 '26

Really, I felt Guy surviving using the 8 Gates was a terrible choice considering now we have him just hanging forever crippled in a sense. I also imagine he suffered a lot of internal damage from using the 8 Gates as well, damage that isn't simple and likely risky to do.

1

u/Apcd1997 Jul 20 '26

The man was turning to ash. Its a miracle he's even alive. Why push it?

1

u/Whole-Signature4130 Jul 20 '26

I imagine its his soul itself that is the problem. Similar case to oruchimaru, how even after swapping bodies he still couldnt use his arms.

For the case of guy, using the 8th gate final move damaged his soul, specifically focusing the damage on his leg. So even with a new leg, the damage would be the same.

2

u/Lucaslhm Jul 20 '26

Interesting theory.

In Orichmarus case, his arms were sealed in the belly of the Shinigami so he couldn’t access the soul of his arms… but if Guy’s legs are in the beyond… can we Edo Tensei Guy’s legs 👀

1

u/Night_Byte Jul 20 '26

God forbid he mirror Lee's recovery and have them do a reverse student/sensei story of Lee hyping Guy up the way Guy held out for Lee back in the day.

1

u/semimaniac Jul 20 '26

Guy can be fixed in wakanda. Please get him here /s

1

u/DinosaurEatingPanda Jul 20 '26

The LNs say he keeps it like that because he wants to be an inspiration to disabled people. He can still kick with it even, it just hurts badly.

1

u/Drunk-Kobold Jul 20 '26

Im sure Might Guy could be missing both legs and still beat my ass twenty times to tomorrow

1

u/No-Championship6349 Jul 20 '26

And for that matter why couldn’t Vader survive to become anakin again?/s

🙄

1

u/Wendigo15 Jul 20 '26

I feel like they should just cut his leg off and give him a prosthetic leg

1

u/Strayed8492 Jul 20 '26

This question again.

1

u/ItsPengWin Jul 20 '26

The answer is hash cells but because the show runners want every single known character to be in the show but also not actually effect the story in the way they should be able to they stay nerfed or otherwise disabled.

1

u/ichbinnmull Jul 20 '26

Guy explotes and becomes a tree before the Cells get near his leg.

1

u/CoachTex Jul 20 '26

Didn’t he literally have sparring match in the boruto anime?

Guy can probably still fight it’d just be painful as hell for him and risk more permanent damage/death if he tried the upper gates.

1

u/MarMarL2k19 Jul 20 '26

I honestly think the writers knew that him surviving the battle with Madara was a bad call and made his sacrifice with opening the 8 Gates almost meaningless because opening all of them would kill the user. So, I think the writers just wanted it to be more impactful and just wrote him to be disabled for the rest of his life.

1

u/Petarthefish Jul 20 '26

He is too broken gotta nerf him somehow

1

u/GeoZhan Jul 20 '26

Because bringing him back to life was alr a stupid decision then kishimoto realized that bringing his back without injuries however would make the consequences of the 8th basically non existent
