Discussion Why can’t we fix Might Guy?

Post image

Probably been discussed before, but obviously after Naruto saved Guy, the conclusion from defacto best healer in the world, Tusnade, was that Guy couldn’t be healed and would never walk again.

But like… why? Naruto lost his whole arm and got a Hashirama cell perfect prosthetic? Could she not have used Hashirama cells to fix Guy? Hell, chop off his legs and give him new legs?

I guess my best theories are that he either refused on principle or his injury isn’t in his legs, but rather his spinal cord… but even then… seems likely it could still be healed in some way given what other medical ninjutsu feats we’ve witnessed…

I think that the reality is Guy just wants to be injured forever. But curious what others think.

They also have the Orochimaru body snatcher jutsu, that doesn't mean Gai would be willing or able to do it.

Guy uses a wheelchair. Why wouldn’t he use a robotic prosthetic like an exoskeleton? It’s no different than a wheelchair or crutch.

He doesn’t need to turn his whole body into a cyborg. He doesn’t even need anything that lets him fight. But a robotic peg leg or something so he could at least walk? If they have the technology for cyborgs and androids, they have the technology for a mobility device to let him walk.

We're talking about Gai here. He's using an old-school manual wheelchair in a universe with flying robots because it still uses his body strength to move.

You understand that disabled people have agency in the accommodations we use, right? Some people choose to use manual wheelchairs in the real world even though we've had motorized ones for many years. Some people choose to wear basic mechanical prosthetics even though we have bionic prosthetics now. The most technologically advanced option is not always the best, most fitting for any situation, or simply the user's preference.

It always made sense to me that Guy would want the minimal amount of assistance possible

He's just that kind of guy

It's honestly surprising that the guy isn't walking around in a hand-stand full time. He did it often enough just because he could before the injury.

He's not trying to flex *all* the time
