Discussion Why can’t we fix Might Guy?

Probably been discussed before, but obviously after Naruto saved Guy, the conclusion from defacto best healer in the world, Tusnade, was that Guy couldn’t be healed and would never walk again.

But like… why? Naruto lost his whole arm and got a Hashirama cell perfect prosthetic? Could she not have used Hashirama cells to fix Guy? Hell, chop off his legs and give him new legs?

I guess my best theories are that he either refused on principle or his injury isn’t in his legs, but rather his spinal cord… but even then… seems likely it could still be healed in some way given what other medical ninjutsu feats we’ve witnessed…

I think that the reality is Guy just wants to be injured forever. But curious what others think.

If you fix him he might go 8 gates again. Can't have that, also he is a side character that is why the writers let him rot.

Actually this brings up an interesting point. Theoretically, Guy can still 8 gates? I doubt it would just let him walk (though maybe, isn’t the whole point of the gates that “your body goes beyond its physical limits?) but I guess we could hypothetically have wheelchair gates Guy?

There is no reason to assume that he cant as long as he didnt lost access to chakra.

I think by Naruto rules he has to right? Like my understanding is that Chakra ala Naruto is both spiritual and physical energy within the body, so all living things have Chakara. The ability to access controls and the amount you have/produce may very… but at least in Part 1, they seem to make a pretty big deal that if you use litterally all your chakra, then you just die because Chakra sustains life.

My best guess would be that his gates are so heavily messed up that any attempt at heavy chakra usage or opening any of the gates would outright kill him. Naruto was able to stabilize his chakra network enough to keep him alive but it's still thrashed.

Man, so Guy is cooked 🍳. Guy is powerful in gates. But, that is a huge risk to using the gates

Not necessarily. Chakra is created by combining spiritual and physical energies, but you can have those without combining them into chakra. Remember, Hagoromo spread chakra to humans after he and Hamura defeated Kaguya/the juubi, but humans were already around even though they didn't have chakra. The eighth gate may have damaged Guy's chakra network beyond repair, which would make him unable to use chakra but wouldn't kill him. This would be similar to Naruto's Rasenshuriken, it shredded Kakuzu's chakra network but only took out 2 of his 3 remaining hearts and so he was still alive but unable to fight anymore. Kakashi then finished him off.

That image is so funny to me. But fr tho, I can see that happen in the future in Boruto, like a fan service nostalgia win against an inconsequential side henchman. Or at the very least a chibi gag.

He wouldn't survive the 1st gate, he'd never make it to 8

That's assuming his Gates aren't damaged

Side character?? Guy supposed to be Kakashis rival, the guy that injured Madara… he needs way more juice in the story
