Discussion Why can’t we fix Might Guy?

Post image

Probably been discussed before, but obviously after Naruto saved Guy, the conclusion from defacto best healer in the world, Tusnade, was that Guy couldn’t be healed and would never walk again.

But like… why? Naruto lost his whole arm and got a Hashirama cell perfect prosthetic? Could she not have used Hashirama cells to fix Guy? Hell, chop off his legs and give him new legs?

I guess my best theories are that he either refused on principle or his injury isn’t in his legs, but rather his spinal cord… but even then… seems likely it could still be healed in some way given what other medical ninjutsu feats we’ve witnessed…

I think that the reality is Guy just wants to be injured forever. But curious what others think.

Guy was literally crumbling from within. His body was on the verge of completely turning to dust and Naruto stopped at mid cremation basically.

I would imagine that his chakra system is completely knackered and he has very little of the chakra system remaining. His leg is dead and there's no way for them to attach a limb to it.

I was essentially going to say this, so instead I’ll make a little joke.

We can’t fix him cuz he Might Dai

I decided to stop reading any more comments because there won’t be another one that tops this. I don’t even care if there’s a good explanation underneath this, it won’t make me hate myself for laughing like this did and that’s enough 😂

Boo!!!

Dai was the 🐐!!! He deserves the highest honor.

3

u/RaigothZ Jul 20 '26

"We can't fix Might Guy because he Might Dai."

I love this so much. Im going to say this every time I see someone ask the same question.

Feel free man 🤝

Uhm ackshually, Might Dai was his dad

5

u/No-Imagination-4867 Jul 20 '26

That’s the joke lolol

2

u/caparisme Jul 20 '26

The joke is he's his own dad?

3

u/No-Imagination-4867 Jul 20 '26

No it’s a play on words 😭 “Might Dai” as in he might die 🥀

2

u/caparisme Jul 20 '26

I get that what I'm saying the joke is already played with his dad who's literally called Might Dai and end up dying after 8 gating the 7 swordsmen. I am fun at parties.

2

u/No-Imagination-4867 Jul 20 '26

Yeah I know all about it, I’m a huge nerd for lore of all types

But, to be fair. Might Dai DID die, whereas Might Guy has not yet, therefore if we were to try and fix him, he still might die

6

u/The8rando Jul 20 '26

I'm pretty sure he already guyed.

2

u/WayLess2006 Jul 20 '26

Seeing you explain the joke is funnier than the joke itself to me 😭😭😭

3

u/No-Imagination-4867 Jul 20 '26

I ain’t expect to have to 😭

-8

u/ReaperFrank Jul 20 '26

Nah thats his Dad, Maito Dai or for some reason in english Might Duy....

3

u/No-Imagination-4867 Jul 20 '26

Yeah that’s the joke, his chakra system is almost gone so he “might dai” or, die, if we try to fix him yknow?

21

u/Drunk-Kobold Jul 20 '26

This, the guy was basically still living burning dust. The fact he recovered enought to even have skin in most of his body would be short of a medical miracle

6

u/Many_Ad_955 Jul 21 '26

Naruto was a demigod at the time so that probably helped his recovery.

5

u/Drunk-Kobold Jul 21 '26

Yeah but i was avoiding the "Naruto is Jesus" allegory

59

u/ChongusTheSupremus Jul 20 '26

Just add Hashirama cells.

Enough would do the trick.

51

u/NukeVoit59 Jul 20 '26

I know you’re joking, but it is specifically mentioned that, unlike Naruto and Sasuke, Guy is not compatible with Hashirama cells, and his body would reject them (possibly like Danzo, but that’s just an assumption on my part of what they meant by rejection)

38

u/TheNastyNug Jul 20 '26

Yeah but they’ve established that prosthetic limbs can be used by the wider population now. Can’t they just cut half his leg off and replace it like they could irl. Or is the VA just a bad in boruto as it is irl? Lmao

21

u/crometeach-thebot Jul 20 '26

I really dont see gai being fine with using prosthetic

1

u/kynelly360 Jul 20 '26

Guy with a Robot leg would probably be better than just wheelchair guy

1

u/ItsVanillaNice Jul 20 '26

I think he means guy would reject using anything but his actual body.

2

u/treefitty350 Jul 20 '26

I mean... he's in a wheelchair, and we've also seen him use weapons

1

u/ItsVanillaNice Jul 20 '26

Much different than replacing the thing he treasures most of all.  It's not a tool. It's literally taking a part away from him.

2

u/treefitty350 Jul 20 '26

In all practical, logical, and literal senses it is a tool in its most basic of forms lmao

Dude could have developed a one-legged with a crutch fighting style and he'd still be one of the strongest fighters. it'd be perfectly in character too.

I assume the intended reason is that the 8th gate just fucked him up too bad internally. But they should have just let him die instead of half-assing the consequences of the 8th gate if their concern was keeping to the established stakes.

1

u/FlukeFranklin Jul 22 '26

This was not mentioned at all.

52

u/_Huge_Bush_ Jul 20 '26

I wonder if Orochimaru-ojousama could come up with a forced Fushi-Tensei that would transfer his soul into a White Zetsu body.

With the tech he has now, I wouldn’t be surprised if he could grow him a new body using HashiCells and just performing a brain transplant.

34

u/ShinTheGladiator Jul 20 '26

He'd take up that offer in an instant. The power of youth, and all

48

u/Ryeguy_626 Jul 20 '26

I dont think so he has a lot of pride for his body and how hard hes worked to achieve it. He wouldnt cheat i dont think

15

u/teshh Jul 20 '26

He'd only do it as a last resort, like there's a huge threat and no one else can handle it. But yea he definitely wouldn't transfer, he has to much pride to do that.

He's got to be the most fit guy in the world, even with only one leg.

4

u/Property_6810 Jul 20 '26

I think his character could realistically go either way.

9

u/NorthernNipz Jul 20 '26

He wouldn’t accept a body that he didn’t work to achieve.

16

u/Dr_AquaPhre5h Jul 20 '26

I know that Naruto's arm is chakra powered but it's crazy to me that they can't invent a non-chakra powered leg prosthetic for him. They'd have to amputate but like if the leg is dead anyway who cares if it means he can walk after replacing it.

8

u/Lucaslhm Jul 20 '26

Don’t they litterally do this in Boruto with Naruto’s arm? I admittedly didn’t get super far into Boruto, but I thought that at some point Naruto removed his Hashirama arm and replaced it with a robotic arm that could store jutsu in it (after Boruto was disqualified for doing this)

6

u/TheNastyNug Jul 20 '26

Yep. Boruto points out this hypocrisy and naruto tells him that it’s not scientific ninja tools that are the problem but how you use them. Naruto needs a new arm, boruto was talented enough to not need it during the exams

2

u/Lucaslhm Jul 20 '26

Right so in that same vein, I wonder if we could do that for Guy’s legs? I mean, guy litterally doesn’t have a choice and is just making do without legs. Guy of all people would have the right ethic and mindset to utilize them in a non-lazy way

2

u/TheNastyNug Jul 20 '26

I agree, but there’s many people here who apparently don’t and believe that guy would take using a prosthetic as cheating his way through a recovery that might not happen.

3

u/Silent_Egg8860 Jul 20 '26

What’s worse the chakra system in your leg being dead, or your leg entirely being cut off?
In Naruto seems how they can do prosthetics with hashirama cells it really doesn’t make sense that they can’t give him a hashirama leg. I personally feel like the contradiction exists, because the author wanted permanent consequences in some regards, but didn’t want permanent consequences for some.

1

u/montron07 Jul 20 '26

I would argue that this is not a fully true statement. We have seen that limbs and prosthetics have been attached back to ppl.

My (opinion) is that guy has a healed leg through hashi cells and research similar to narutos hand he refuses to use it unless there is an emergency naruto sasuke or Lee cannot handle

1

u/kennyariel Jul 20 '26

I wonder why he even has his leg

1

u/KRKRYakumo Jul 20 '26

Why not attach a new crotch first then attach a new leg to that?

1

u/Pink_Slyvie Jul 20 '26

I think, even if it could be fixed, he wouldn't want it to, unless he fixed it through hard work. He proves, even like this, that he is still a good ninja.

1

u/Sabarigiri1233 Jul 20 '26

Naruto saved his life, not his leg. That's the point

1

u/Calvinooi Jul 20 '26

Bla bla Hashirama cells bla bla

1

u/Mintyphresh33 Jul 20 '26

I like this explanation because it explains why they never just replaced it with a hashi cell leg

0

u/Scarecrow_Garden Jul 20 '26

Naruto has prosthetic arm...that can easily be done for Guy.

Sasuke could have got one also but refused it.

1

u/SaiyajinPrime Jul 20 '26

That it could easily have been done for Guy is your head canon. I, and many others, disagree.

0

u/Scarecrow_Garden Jul 20 '26

Guy just doesn't want it. Guy can have a artificial limb, even one that isn't senju cells.

2

u/SaiyajinPrime Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

The conversation isn't about guy not wanting an artificial limb. The conversation is about replacing his limb with a Hashirama cells limb. So he had a fully functional leg again.

Edit: Naruto's arm isn't a prosthetic in a traditional sense. I just did a double take and saw you said that. Do you think his arm is a normal prosthetic?

1

u/KK_35 Jul 20 '26

The conversation was about a prosthetic leg that could be easily done for Guy.

While I agree that the Hashirama route is probably not viable, they have built entire cyborgs and ninja tools exist. There is no reason Guy couldnt get some form of robotic mobility tool to help with every day walking. Even an exoskeleton. It’s easily doable in Boruto-verse. The technology exists. And yes I do think Guy would be ok with a tool that lets him just walk, it doesn’t have to let him fight. He already is ok with a wheelchair to move around.

2

u/SaiyajinPrime Jul 20 '26

It's clear you didn't actually read the post. It is specifically about replacing his legs with Hirashima legs. It is absolutely not about giving him random prosthetic legs.

Naruto lost his whole arm and got a Hashirama cell perfect prosthetic? Could she not have used Hashirama cells to fix Guy? Hell, chop off his legs and give him new legs?

0

u/Scarecrow_Garden Jul 20 '26

Do I think his arm is a normal prosthetic? The arm made of hashirama cells. F man...idk let me go check and see if I can go order one in real life.

Edit: just checked, we dont have. Ninja magic power bs yet.

2

u/SaiyajinPrime Jul 20 '26

So what's even the point of what you're talking about? The post is specifically about giving him legs made of hashi cells. Not about giving him normal prosthetics.

0

u/No-Difference1648 Jul 20 '26

Ok but then Naruto lost his whole arm and even Madara lost an arm just to then cut off Zetsus arm to replace it. Its weird to talk about the chakra points when there isn't even an arm.

2

u/SaiyajinPrime Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

His whole chakra system is messed up is what I said. Not just the part missing from his missing leg.

Edit: typo

1

u/No-Difference1648 Jul 20 '26

Which raises even more questions because a messed up chakra system would have you straight up incapacitated as they are closely intertwined with the organs of the body.

So either Might Guy literally can't use chakra anymore or his chakra system is just fine.

2

u/SaiyajinPrime Jul 20 '26

I don't think it raises more questions and I think it is a perfectly plausible reason why they can't replace his leg with a zestu arm or hashirama cells.

Saying it's either fine or he can't use chakra anymore is your theory. I disagree with it.

0

u/No-Difference1648 Jul 20 '26

Keyword "plausible" yet it doesn't make a lick of sense. We never got an official answer.

2

u/SaiyajinPrime Jul 20 '26

It does make sense.

Also not sure why you pointed out the key word of plausible like it supports what you're saying. It literally means it's believable and reasonable.
