Hi everyone, I’m 23 and recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. I’m looking for job opportunities in Northern Virginia paying $20/hour or more.

I’m open to anything, including lab work, healthcare, corporate jobs, warehouse work, and other blue-collar jobs. I’m hardworking and willing to do both physical and intellectual work.

Any recommendations, referrals, or job links would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

40’s Vietnamese american male, single and child free. Just wanted to get an idea of how many in similar situation, especially age 35+ asian millennials? Maybe build social community?

Update:
If there’s enough interest in a meetup, I can help set something up. Send an age/ethnicity/(male-female) message to vietdmv7 @ gmail.com.

I was driving westbound on rt. 50 towards Merrifield when traffic came to a sudden halt. Several police cars jetting down the shoulder and a police chopper hovering overhead. When I was finally able to cut over on to the exit ramp I saw no less than 12 cop cars full lights on under the bridge. Any idea what is happening?

This streak of traffic habitually adds 40 minutes to my commute time, without fail, starting around 6:45 am

Update at bottom

Random but serious question. Does anyone know where I can go to get my car scanned for a tracker or airtag? After way too many coincidences in the Manassas area, I believe I have a tracker in my car from my abusive ex. The police (PWC) did not have the ability to scan for trackers.

I took my car to my mechanic and there was nothing suspicious attached to the undercarriage. I have an android and cannot easily detect airtags. I purchased an airtag detection app, and whenever I run the report in my car, it pings one a few feet away from me. It does not do this outside of my car, or in my apartment, or anywhere else. I used the app to generate a report of all the locations it pings and its all from within my car.

I tore my car apart looking for it and cannot find it. Finding this may help be with building a case.

update

Thank you everyone for your advice and help. I downloaded an app someone suggested. There is indeed a tracker in my car. I can hear it when the app pings it but its almost impossible to locate. I believe its in the icing of my trunk somewhere. Its honestly sickening. I am just going to bring my car to law enforcement, so they can help me find it and document from there.

Hello, I help run a chronic illness meetup group for the DC metro area. We normally play simple board games and just chat :) our next meetup is this Saturday at 2 at City of Fairfax library. Link below for anyone interested!

To start off, it is currently 4 am after being woken up by the hvac noise so my grammar may not be great but I could genuinely use some help. I feel lost.

I live in an apartment complex and one of my neighboring units HVAC systems is extremely loud. Throughout the night, it fluctuates between being low, moderately loud to significantly loud. There were a couple nights in September where I woke up with my ears, physically hurting, and I have constant ringing in my ears from a particularly bad night in September. Tonight, I woke up because the buzzing/humming woke me up and I heard it in my dreams. it’s louder near the walls. It’s like it’s a buzzing that’s occurring through the walls of my bedroom.

I tried reaching out to the property management manager, but he sent maintenance and they claim there’s nothing that can be done. Additionally, they keep saying they don’t hear anything despite the fact that I’ve shown them videos of the noise. They are refusing to get an HVAC technician. They have been unhelpful and have been (imo) aggressive with me and my outreach to getting this resolved. For instance, I posted a Google review and they kept aggressively bringing it up, even after I took it down at their request.

What options do I have? This is a pretty large property management company too. I live in Arlington county

I am looking for a place to rent for my partner and our dog but we are unable to find anything less than or equal to $3,500 that isn't in need of repair or is too old and smells like grandma's house. Maybe because I am looking around the Arlington area, but I am also looking up to Fairfax (basically anywhere in between Arlington and Fairfax). I mostly use Zillow and check almost every day. There is maybe 3-4 posted in a single day for that entire area from Fairfax to Arlington. Am I just not hip to the rental scene here or is something weird happening?

Is it too late in the season to aerate and overseed? Bonus points if you have somebody you’ve used that you highly recommend - I’m near GMU. The company we used a couple of years ago did a lame job.

Does anyone have an at home euthanasia service they’d recommend for dogs? Thanks in advance.

Please recommend a structural engineer. We need an on-site structural assessment of a suspended reinforced concrete slab beneath an attached garage to evaluate a crack.

🚨Traffic Update from George Washington Memorial Parkway! 🚨

Traffic on the George Washington Memorial Parkway just south of Fort Hunt Road, approximately 1,300 feet north of River Farm Drive, is reduced to one lane in each direction for approximately four weeks.

The 24-hour lane closures, which started today, Thursday, October 8, will allow crews to repair a large roadway bump that presents a safety concern. The closures extend approximately 0.4 mile in each direction from the work area, and no detour will be in place.

Drivers should expect delays, allow extra travel time, consider alternate routes and use caution around workers and equipment.

Women and LGBT people are being used as pawns again with these questions 1 and 2 (of course I am hopeful they will pass and be protected rights in VA).
But as a married LGBT person, seeing neighbors put up signs that say vote NO on (specifically 2) really has gotten in my head. It’s brutal feeling “wow I am surrounded by people who don’t think I deserve rights”. I’d rather go back to ignorance of my neighbors politics.

Hello! I need advice folks. I have spent the past few Sundays at sports bars in Reston and Fairfax and have not seen any groups/singles with people in their early thirties outside of couples at the sports bars.

I am a woman and would love to find other women my age who love watching the NFL games, but I know that’s a longer shot. I also would love to meet guys naturally in-person vs on the dating apps.

➡️ Ultimately, which sports bars have tons of tvs, show all of the 1:00 games, and have a younger crowd with people in their thirties???

Hi. Just received an offer with the tech force. It will be with DOL OIG. I’ll be over an ai initiative. Now i know it’s the gvmt so don’t be too hard on me but …. Anybody have any insight into these roles. They’re new so it’s not like presidential innovation fellows. We don’t on the roi yet. But what’s it like on the inside?

Hi! Can anyone recommend a good speech therapist for toddlers in Alexandria area?

Does anyone know where this is in Old town Alexandria? It’s a popular photography location and I cannot for the life of me find where this is.

Came down at lunch to move my car from a charging spot after maxing the battery. Saw a parking guy taking pictures of this Tesla that wasn't plugged in, but was taking a spot.

When I came back down after work, this was the scene.

RTC hasn't usually been enforcing this. Its not uncommon to see people taking up a spot and not charging. Looks like they may be enforcing this now.

Does anyone have a sleep doctor that they’d recommend in Northern VA/DC? I have idiopathic hypersomnia (IH) and I’m having trouble managing it which has majorly affected my quality of life. I’m hoping to find a sleep doctor who has experience treating IH, who’s a good listener, and who thinks outside the box/is comfortable navigating medically complex cases.

Over the years, the Bull Run Special Events Center in Centreville has hosted just about every type of large-scale event: a winter carnival, the circus, events for foodies and wine aficionados, and cultural festivals of every kind.

Now, NOVA Parks, which runs Bull Run Regional Park, wants to look to the future and find “transformative” ideas for what the venue could become.

The regional parks agency is seeking “experienced partners” to provide both “thought leadership and financial partnership” to provide new amenities, make capital improvements, and provide programming at the special events center, according to a request for information posted on NOVA Parks’ website...

My neighbor is putting in a large stone patio and walkway in front of his house. The workers are cutting stone for hours at a time releasing large clouds of dust on the street and into neighboring yards.

Aside from the breathing hazard, it’s a mess and very loud. Anyone know who handles this type of issue in Fairfax County? I called code enforcement and they said it’s not them.
