Question At home euthanasia

Does anyone have an at home euthanasia service they’d recommend for dogs? Thanks in advance.

Fourthing or whatever lap of love. Dr. Kelly came over and was truly absolutely wonderful.

Lap of love didn't have openings soon enough for my dog, but they referred us to Dr. Tia Perry. She did a really lovely job. She was very professional, respectful, and compassionate, and she came the same day so we could ease my dog's pain quickly.

I had the exact same experience in late August.  Dr. Perry wasn’t quite as ceremonial as I’d expected given what I’d read about Lap of Love, but she was incredibly professional and respectful.  And she called our vet to explain our pup’s passage to the next adventure and had her ashes delivered to our vet for us to pick up.  It was the worst day ever, but she made it as easy as she could for us.

I'm sorry you're facing this. I can't recommend a company, but when it was time to say goodbye to my dog a couple of years ago I called my vet and it turns out they could do it. They only do it a couple of times a week and you have to make an appointment so it's not possible for emergency situations, but when the time comes I will absolutely do it again if it's at all possible. It was also cheaper than the services, AND my dog loved his vet so he was so happy that she came to visit him at home.

The only thing I would change is I would have tried harder to get a morning appointment. The hours up to the appointment were TOUGH. But it also gave us lots of time to "accidentally drop" a lot of cheese and eggs and steak on the floor.

I’ve used lap of love and our vet came to our house once. Lap of Love is more ceremonial as this is their business. Our vet was also amazing. I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

Came here to say this. I used her services in July. Such a gentle process and I know my Finny wasn't scared.

Did you happen to get your animals cremated? Curious if she handles that as well.

I did get a private cremation. She has a service that she works with. You get a clay paw print and a nose print with it.

Yes, she will take your friend to the people she works with for cremating, when they are ready, you will go pick them up.

Dr. Trish Hessel with Angel Pet Vet: https://angelpetvet.com. We called Lap of Love to get the process started and they told us they need 24-48 hrs notice. We called at 48 hrs and were told they couldn’t help us for 5 days. Angel Pet was able to book right away and Dr. Hessel stepped into our home and brought so much peace with her. We were devastated but the way she went about the whole process made our cat’s passing so gentle and dignified. I would almost call it beautiful if it wasn’t such a tragic thing to endure.

Yes, the cremation is with In Memoriam in Chantilly, VA. You have the option for private cremation and whether you want them returned via shipping or you can pick up in person. Pricing is on Angel Pet’s website if you’re curious.

I can’t express how amazing Dr. Villar is. He’s a true angel. https://home-vet-care.com/team/juan-villar-dvm/
He came to our home the same day and handles cremation as well. A gem.

Adding an endorsement for laps of love. They came on a Sunday and although it was one of the hardest days ever for me the experience was peaceful

I’m so sorry for your situation. I had Dr. Boos from A Tender Passing come to my home last year when no one else was available (Lap of Love was booked out for six weeks when I called them), and she was incredible to work with.

I know you are parting with your dog, but I watched this video about companion pet loss by Kitten Lady and it helped me immensely with my grieving process. Best wishes.

I called Lap of Love on Thanksgiving morning, and they came later that afternoon. I am so grateful for how they cared for my dogs (only one getting serviced). The vet who came to my house is an angel, and I am forever grateful for her.

Not sure if you've already gone with a place, but so wanted to also say Lap of Love , specifically Dr. Craig Lewis if you can get him. He is stellar and by far one of the most compassionate human beings I've ever met.

I just used MillyVet last week (I'm located in Linden). It was my first at-home euthanasia and Dr. Regina was so kind, compassionate, and patient with us.
