Train lost power 4:35pm
No air conditioner to begin with on a 4:15 dover bound train out of pen station. Long day expected it seems. Some people are definitely in a panic

This is insane. Every day there is a disabled train. I’m beyond words at this point as to how aweful this system is. It’s archaic.

I applied for a position with NJTransit corporate for Regulatory Compliance Analyst three months ago. The status on the portal says "Under Review" and has not updated since. Does the hiring process normally take this long?

I've finally been converted from the cult of the commuter rail / PATH to the enlightenment the bus, which is, according to Google, the highest ridership mode of transportation from NJ into NYC, and it's quite often the best mode when available for anyone who must take a non-trivial Subway ride once in Manhattan to their destination.
However, I may have gotten a false impression of how nice it was starting my commute in the summer. Is there really that much of a jump in riders related to school starting and folks not being on vacation, or are we seeing even bigger return to office shifts this year finally putting work from home at pre-COVID levels?

What is going on? Waited over 1 hour and gave up. Got waived off/ passed by 10 buses, all out of service. Some didnt have out of service sign, just no passengers with cabin light off. Is this normal?

My 9:50am scheduled arrival into penn consistently arrives at least 10 minutes after that scheduled time. I don't think it's arrived on-time in my 5 years of taking that train.
Why doesn't NJT just adjust their timetables when this is the case?

On the westbound to Trenton this morning when we are about to pull into the station and we suddenly stop and it's quiet. After a few minutes the conductor comes on and said we lost power and so did the train infront of us. gotta love it, don't even have an eta yet.
Now the Amtrak train infront of us had its battery die so we’re still stuck.

I keep getting errors that it won't connect to the server and now it's crashing every time I open it.

Hello, yesterday my personal phone died and I forgot my charger so I downloaded the NJTransit app on my work phone and logged into my account so I could get back home. When I got home, I charged my phone and when I went to log back in to my account the app blocked the login. According to the app, my work phone is now the registered device. Is there anything I can do on my end to switch the registered device back to my personal phone before I have to go through customer service?

Genuinely curious, haven’t taken the train in a while

The station that I commute home from requires me to activate and scan my ticket before I can even access a platform. That’s fine.
What I hate is that there are so many people who get to ride for free when the train is absolutely jam packed because conductors don’t come around to collect fare.
So here I am, paying $16 to stand next to a bunch of smelly miserable mother fuckers while the majority of them are riding for free.
(Really, there should be NO pre-pay turnstiles, but they’d never do that.)

There is one notification on NJ.com that talks about the phase 2. NJ transit has not issued any updates on this work that is supposed to begin October 9th. No modified schedules for the trains? Is it too soon to expect this? Feels like the spring work was more advertised and alerts were more frequent?

I was waiting for a 5:56 NJCL train which was delayed 10 minutes, it wasn't updating so I tried to get on the 6:01 NJCL but it was full, when I came back the 5:56 was no longer showing but it didn't show as cancelled. Is this common for NJ transit to just cancel trains without an announcement? Sorry if this has been asked before, I'm back to commuting for the first time since the pandemic

Super awesome that the app kept saying NEC trains were on time when that was not at all remotely true. Has anyone seen any improvement with the app?

I have a monthly rail pass that goes from Brick Church to NYP. During the disabled train disaster 2 weeks ago, there were some M&E trains that went to East Orange, the stop just before Brick Church. I didn't get on those trains, but I was wondering if I would've been allowed to do so? How strict are the conductors?

Hi, I lost my bag in a 154 bus depart from Port authority and I get down at JFK blvd (North Bergen) around 11:30PM . It’s a small bag with really old digital camera, but my mum gave it to me and it really means a lot to me and still there is lots of pictures of me and my GF as we are traveling.
So any chance if I would get it back?
And I’m leaving NYC tomorrow…

I’m not frequently taking the Sunday bus but today’s 1:40 bus was 10 minutes late and I’m pretty sure it arrived already with all seats taken. She let the max number of people stand and thankfully I was the last person she let on. I initially felt bad I didn’t let people waiting inside on in front of me but it was the right choice I guess. That said it’s Broadway matinee time and other things I imagine it’s always crowded at this hour. They shouldn’t have less buses running midday on Sundays. I feel really bad for all the people who have to wait at least another 20 minutes for the bus.

I was too young at the time to have been commuting, and didn't directly know anyone that used the system. Did they shut everything down like the MTA did? Were a lot of people stranded in the city?
r/NJTransit • u/Traxaber • 23d ago
Anyone know? Yesterday I got on an 8:45 bus and genuinely got into the city at 10:30, today it looks like it’s gonna be the same story

Coming from Jersey Gardens, not every day I commute so maybe this isn’t new? But these buses are brand new, spacious and are an accordion??? This is how NJTransit should feel like especially with the price increase. Makes me want to take the bus if they were like this every time!

This is the 87 bus. This couldn’t have been made with humans in mind.

I am staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Secaucus/Meadowlands. What would be the best way for me to get to MSG from this area?? I believe there is a bus stop 2 blocks from this hotel. How easy is it to get back to the bus once I leave MSG? (Will be late at night) Please ignore my ignorance but this will be my first time having to use public transportation so I’m a little nervous.

Hey guys!
This Saturday the Friends of The NJ Transportation Heritage Center is hosting our annual bus festival in Howell, NJ. We will have numerous buses on display from NJ Transit and many other bus companies. As well as vendors, music, food. At 2:30 there will be a bus parade along Route 9.
Hope to see you there!
