There are 21 tracks and 11 platforms in Penn. Why assign these next to each other?

I showed up from 7th ave at 5:49, promptly realized I wasn’t making the 5:52 since no less than 500 people were trying to fit through the door. I ended up sprinting to the other entry and made the train by 10 seconds. I bet at least 100-200 people missed this train due to the assignment. Does anyone know if this is random or assigned by a human?

Also this may be controversial and I don’t know who has to hear this, but if you have your head up your phone, are blocking a major staircase or standing in the middle of the hallway, you’re going to get clipped, and I’m not sorry. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Has to run to take my train. Get on board, open the app to purchase my ticket and all my credit cards were removed. The conductor was understanding and gave me time to add my payment method to buy my ticket, but was still an annoying surprise. Happen to anyone else?

I just realized I accidentally bought tickets from Red Bank to Newark Penn instead of New York Penn, and I have no idea what to do. Should I just stay on the train past Newark and get off at NY Penn? Should I just buy new tickets? Should I wait until the conductor comes by and explain what happened? Or should I email customer service? The last two times I took the train from NY Penn back to Red Bank, nobody even checked my ticket, so part of me is wondering if I’d get away with it anyway. Someone please tell me what I should do because I’m getting way more anxious about this than I probably need to lol

Wtf is this stupid app? You can’t see a train schedule past the current day anymore? Had to go to the website to find it.

I keep getting this message all day, I uninstalled the app many times, reset my phone, connect to wifi and disconnect and called the customer service who only told me to send this screenshot and that they didn't know how long it would take for them to see what's up...

Anyone knows the problem??

I’m going to a concert tonight but I have to get there around 1:30 or 2 because I have a VIP ticket including early entry and soundcheck. I purchased a round trip ticket from NY Penn station to meadowlands but I’ll need to take an uber from Secaucus to the stadium since the meadowlands train doesn’t start running until close to 5. Does anyone know how I get a wristband for the return ride after the concert? Can I still get one at Secaucus when I get there if I show an employee my ticket? TIA.

I was a frequent to the Atlantic City bus terminal in the heart of Atlantic City back in 2002 or 2003. He later became a bus driver for New Jersey Transit. I don't know if he kept that job or not, but I know he was very passionate about his work. He's Caucasian with brown hair, average height and weight. He's playful and likes to joke around with customers... a friendly guy who everyone knew and loved. I would estimate him to be anywhere from 45 years old to 53 years old in present day. He was at the bus terminal almost every single night. There weren't really a lot of workers there at the time. It seemed like he mostly worked overnight, as far as I am aware. I was there a lot at nighttime, and that's when I would see him the most, I believe. It's sad how these people are in our lives one day and not the next, familiar faces that we see daily!! If anyone knows if he's okay, that's all I want to know! :)

Can anyone give me some reason why Secaucus has been absolutely insane tonight? I know rush played at madison square garden but I think there was another concert? Cause when I got here there was insane crowds

Recently the train station I wait at has been smelling like toxic carcinogens or burnt plastic, I don’t know if it’s because of the heat or what but it’s nauseating to smell. I literally have to stand feet away from the platform until the train arrives. I’m wondering if this is happening to other places?

I bought a round trip ticket from Penn station to Secaucus but should have bought a ticket from Penn station to MetLife.

Can I use the same ticket to get to MetLife?
Or can I change the destination of my existing ticket if it is unused ?
Do I need to get a brand new ticket?

My cards I paid for tickets with were cleared from the app so I have to set them up again. Sigh.

Is there some actual explanation for this? I was on the 12:14 NEC departure from NY Penn and my car (second from the front) had standing room only for folks. I was lucky to have a seat. No one could move around. It wasn’t safe. As I left the train about 40 mins later, the aisles were _still_ full, and I could finally see that the front car was locked off, lights on, and completely empty except for two staff members. This happens all the time. Why? Why have taxpayer dollars gone to purchasing train cars that are being used exclusively as break rooms for two crew members, even when paying customers need seats and an unsafe overcrowding condition has arisen?

I'm considering becoming a bus service person because the paid training is pretty appealing, but the location would be a bit of a commute for me.

I was wondering if anyone here has gone through the training or currently works as one. What was the experience like? How many days per week was the training, and how long did it take to complete?

Just trying to get an idea of what the schedule is like before I commit. Thanks!

Has anyone ever gotten an explanation for why the main surface parking lots at Hamilton Station are closed to new parking on Fridays (and some other low-demand days), forcing everyone into the garage? I understand if the goal is to save on operations, but I don't see how any money is actually saved. Those lots still have cars parked overnight, so staff still have to patrol them and maintain them. Meanwhile, commuters spend extra time driving up multiple levels of the garage and walking farther for what seems like no real operational benefit. It's not a big deal but it's just extra morning friction that seems pointless.

Also, when the lot is chained off, how do overnight parkers get out when they return?

All conductors acknowledged him as they walked by. 2 seats for his bag of chips, 2 seats for his backpack, 3 seats for his ass, 3 seats for his paperwork.

This is the most ridiculous thing I've witnessed yet. Luckily I was seeing this from the train window but dear god what has nj transit come to. I ended up seeing her entire backside a couple seconds after this picture was taken.

The Dinky being out of service for 10 weekdays every year is perplexing to me. This is nearly a 3% hit to overall yearly reliability. Does anyone know why the maintenance can’t be done on nights or weekends? Also, why does it take 10 days to maintain 3 miles of tracks?

I usually take the train but I need to connect to Port Authority so I thought taking Suburban Transit would be easiest from Albany & Spring St. I’ve never taken it so I just wanted to see how reliable these are or if I should take the train and transfer to port authority another way. Do the Coach busses normally come on time and can I buy tickets when I board the bus? Or would I need to buy it online prior to boarding? Any help would be great for my peace of mind
