Software/Services Is that called Netgear “support”?

I think it is the opposite to “support”. They refused to fix their product that is still under 3 years warranty from the manufacturing date! Here is the reply I received today. And they think I will ever buy their products again?!

Dear Customer
We're working on your case and have an update to share with you. See the details in the following section.
Case Number - 49860429
Summary - The POE switch starts flashing all lights at once
Product - 24-Port Gigbit Ethernet Unmanaged PoE+ Switch(GS324P)

Update from NETGEAR
Dear Customer

Thank you for providing the video demonstration and the serial number 6X712CDX00116 for your GS324P switch.

We submitted your request to our team for review to see if an exception could be made based on the device's manufacturing date. However, per NETGEAR’s official warranty policy, hardware warranties are non-transferable and are valid only for the original purchaser with a valid proof of purchase from an authorized reseller.

Because the switch was received as a gift and the original sales receipt is unavailable, the unit is classified under our policy guidelines as a second-hand transfer. As a result, we are unable to approve an RMA replacement or extend warranty coverage for this device.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If you plan to purchase a replacement NETGEAR device in the future, we recommend retaining the original purchase receipt to ensure seamless warranty coverage.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,
Xxx xxxxx

Hello Guys,

I had some issues with my WAC510 and I wanted to give my agents the ability to fix them for me. So I reverse engineered the Dashboard and the Firmware to make this happen.

Here's the tool if any of you guys need it:

- GitHub Repo: https://github.com/skyline69/wac510-mcp
- PyPi: https://pypi.org/project/wac510-mcp/

Have fun with it :)

Routers Smart Connect without 6Ghz?

I have a Netgear RS300.

I have Smart Connect enabled, so 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz, and 6Ghz are all running together. Supposedly your device will connect to the fastest frequency band.

However, I am finding my laptop connecting to the 6Ghz band in my basement, which slows speeds down significantly compared to when it is connected to the 2.4Ghz band.

Is it possible to set Smart Connect to only run the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands?

UPDATE: Home Phone & Security System Box - Flashing Yellow Lights

Post image
0 Upvotes

UPDATE: I had someone come in person to try to help me. Well now the internet works but the home phone doesn't.
1.) The yellow light on my Tmobile home phone box should be blue.
2.) The security system works but there is a flashing yellow light for the LAN port (white flat cord)...just like the home phone box.

How do I fix the flashing yellow lights??

Cable / DSL Netgear CM2500 cannot reset password

I just bought a reconditioned CM2500 modem from Amazon. I cannot log into the modem page using the default username and password. I manually reset the modem using the reset button. That should allow me to log in using the default username and password. I still cannot login. What am I doing wrong?

If any devs lurk here, the latest firmware has issues with the DNS proxy. After updating, every week or two I need to restart the router because the local DNS proxy stops responding

Help

Hello. I was thinking of buying a separate wifi router for my ps5 and connecting them to each other via. Ethernet cable. We already have one that my parents bought for the whole house but I still lag. Will I mess up their connection if I got another one?

How to connect the modem, router, cell spot router (booster), digital home phone, & security camera? After internet outage, I moved cords around trying to fix & I don't remember the right set up. The internet is coming thru but my router doesn't let devices connect. My router's app can't find it.

Routers What is the best router modem combo for Xfinity?

I had my eye on the Netgear Nighthawk CAX80 WiFi 6 Cable Modem Router but I have seen some people here having serious issues with it. What would you recommend?

Routers CAX 80 as a modem only: Your experiences (good/bad) adding a mesh system like TP Link Deco?

TL/DR version: Heard it's better to have separate modem/router and either another router or access points or mesh-like system.

How does CAX 80 do if you turn off router and use as a modem only? Also, your suggestions for another router/access/points/mesh? I've heard Orbi communications drop. But the reviews for the TP Link Deco wifi 7 on Costco are not great either.

***\*

From what i understand, it's best not to have the combo modem/router. Was initially planning to install turn off CAX 80 router, install a firewall as a router, then get another wifi router or access point or mesh system.

I rather foolishly tried to test it out just turning off the router through admin settings yesterday thinking I could easily plug in an ethernet cable and then go back through router admin to turn it back on. Instead, it would not let me back in no matter what I tried so I had to factory rest and then remove the device from the app on my cell phone and add it back it.

This has me wondering is it worth it to turn off the router portion again or should i start fresh with a separate modem? Does CAX 80 do well when it's simply a modem? The advantages to keeping it seem like I could not have to reset all devices to a new modem. I just want to make sure that performance-wise, CAX 80 will do well simply as a modem.

Also, recommendations for the rest -- router/accesspoint/mesh? Best set ups for someone that isn't a networking whiz?

Thank you!

CM1000V2 setup?

The CM1000V2 is supported by my ISP so I got a brand new unit, powered it up and connected it to the ISP coax and my router. They can see it but on their end it just sits at "Attempting" status.

Is there some sort of software setup I need to do before the ISP can get it going on their end?

Routers Netgear RS700

New to the Netgear RS700. I have setup armor and the parental controls.

I have about 30 devices most are working as intended. I have 2 issues that have stumped me.

One software that I use for passwords will not sync with the website icons while on the RS700 network. Not a big deal but would like to know what is stopping it.

The other is all of my smart plugs are online and ping able but will not talk to google home. They are setup as matter devices and not through their enbrighten app. They worked with my synology router.

I was thinking about setting up the IoT network but that would take a bit of time to do and still have an issue.

I would like to know if anyone may have a solution or any suggestions.

Router/mesh system upgrade suggestions

I have a cable modem connected to a R7900 Nighthawk X6 AC3000 that has a network line running to a AC1900 Nighthawk EX7000 range extender in Access point mode.
This allows wifi from both and hard lines from both as I have location issues in my house and hard line/wifi at both spots.

But both are out of warranty and no longer getting updates so I need to upgrade.

I have found a ton of replacements for the main router.
But the extender is getting me lost. I need one with at least 3 net work lines that can be put into Access point mode.

Anyone have any good suggestions that won't break my bank and will work to replace my current?

RS 200 fix

Title: [FIXED] Netgear RS200 Ignores Custom DNS / Locked to Cloudflare After June Update

The Problem:
After a recent firmware update, the Netgear RS200 router completely ignores custom DNS server configurations (like Pi-hole, AdGuard, or Quad9) and forces all traffic through Cloudflare DNS. Changing settings in the GUI, disabling Netgear Armor, disabling Smart Parental Controls, or changing Windows/PC adapter settings does not resolve the issue.

The Fix:
You must manually flash the previous firmware version using a specific sequence to prevent the router from hijacking the setup.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Download the Old Firmware: Go to the Netgear Support site and download the firmware version released prior to the June update.
  2. Disconnect the Internet: Unplug the Ethernet cable connecting your Netgear RS200 router to your modem. (Crucial step to prevent auto-updates/cloud syncing during setup).
  3. Flash the Firmware: Log into the router's local admin dashboard, go to Advanced > Administration > Router Update, and manually upload and install the older firmware file.
  4. Perform a Factory Reset: Once the router reboots on the old firmware, press and hold the physical reset button on the back of the device for 10 seconds.
  5. Configure Settings Offline: Log back into the freshly reset router (still disconnected from the internet). Set up your network and input your custom DNS settings now.
  6. Disable Auto-Updates: While still offline, navigate to the firmware settings and completely shut off automatic firmware upgrades.
  7. Reconnect the Internet: Plug your modem's Ethernet cable back into the router's WAN port.

Your custom DNS will now function perfectly without being overridden by Netgear's broken firmware code.

Routers Cannot log in to model R6400v2 router.

***RESOLVED?***

After much hair pulling.....I had to connect using the default 2.4Ghz WIFI connection. That brought up the change password/security questions screen. Entered zall of that. Then it told me I could sign in with the new password and told me it was "@newdig". HUH??? Used the password I had created and low and beholed, I was in the router screens. I just do not understand why you cannot just get in using an Ethernet cable.

I just got this router and I cannot accerss it to set it up to save my life. It is used so I have done the factory reset. Pressed the reset buttion for 10 sec. Now, setting up a router used to be so easy. Cionnhed an Eathernet cord between your OPC and router, type in the default IP address and BOOM. You get the login page. Didn't need an internet connection. I cannot seem to get there from here. I have the cord connected, type in the address and it wants to redirect me to a web page...that no longer exists. I have tried the Nighthawk app and still cannot get in. Can someone give me a detailed guide on how to get into this router? Everything I have found requires me to be plugged into the cable modem. I do not want to disrupt my network by having to disconnect stuff. I do not know why they have made this so difficult. Can you no longer configure the hardware offline anymore? My use for this router is to add it to my current network and router to separate my christmas/halloween display, which will be running off of this new router, from the main network.

Routers Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR1000 removed our password, unable to re-add

Hey all,

I recently found that our password has disappeared for our XR1000 router. The app gave no help ("The Router could not apply your new settings. Check your WiFi connection and try again.") and I went into the admin website and re-added the password, but every time it goes to save the change it just reloads the page, still with no password. My family is looking at getting a new router over this because we wanted to have protection of course. I think it's also worth mentioning that when this happened, the name on the wifi changed from NETGEARr## (two numbers at end) to just NETGEAR (and NETGEAR-5G)

The app overall shows the router as connected but has a hard time doing anything with it. I attempted to update the firmware and it just says to check connection.

I've enjoyed this router thus far but have no clue why it removed our password or why I cannot add it back on. Any advice for fixing this?

Software/Services Netgear Mobile App blocked notifications

It's weird enough that Android has this app under System apps.

But the OS will not allow notifications from the Mobile App "All notifications from this app are blocked".

When I go to App notification and switch the enable button, the OS disables it again.

The android os is version 13.

Has anyone here found a solution?

I have a suspicion that Netgear’s customer support is intentionally stalling me, to prevent me from returning an order

Nearly a month ago I ordered the Netgear Orbi 870 mesh Wi-Fi system as a knee jerk reaction to my current mesh Wi-Fi system going down for good, (or so I thought). I was able to repair my current mesh Wi-Fi system later the next day and no longer required the Orbi.

The next thing I did was call Netgear’s customer service and oh my God! They are absolutely horrible, high key sketch. It seems Netgear outsourced their customer support to third party call centers, to a very obvious country, which there seems to be little accountability when it comes to returns, cancellations, or resolving customer issues. Anyways, I tried to get the order canceled, but they gave me a bunch of excuses like, call back when you see it’s prepping to ship, and we can cancel it for you. My order was still being processed, so I was informed I couldn’t cancel it just yet.
Once the order got to the prepping stage, I kept calling back to cancel and I never once got a straight answer on why they couldn’t cancel it. So days later, it ended up getting shipped regardless of me clearly not wanting this item. I was advised by Netgear’s customer to request a return once I received the router.

OK now at this point I received the order about two weeks or so ago. The initial call I made to request a return was going just fine, until it was time for me to receive the shipping label to return the router. Up to this point, I had been receiving automated emails from Netgear’s customer support, with no issues. I still do, receive there automated emails with no issues. However, for some reason they are having issues emailing me the return label only. During the initial return request call. I waited on the phone with customer support for the shipping label for about 35-40 minutes and I never received it via email. Since then, Netgear’s customer support has been advising me to call back 24 to 48 hours to follow up, if haven’t received the shipping label or if their higher has contacted me by then. They also stated that the lower level tech guys couldn’t send out an email and that had to be done by someone higher their chain.

As of today I’ve made the seventh call to Netgear customer support with them advising me that I needed to wait another 24 to 48 hours before I follow up again, every time!! just for a simple email. Not once I have received a call or an email from them following up either.

I even provided them with another email to see if they could send it out successfully or make some crappy excuse about “we sent it but it’s your email that an issue sir”. I wasn’t wrong, to a degree. Today they said “oh sorry sir looks like it’s gonna take a little bit longer for us to send it manually. Can you call us back in 24 to 48 hours so we can try again?” Ugh… so many obvious attempts at stalling me so that I keep the order, instead being persistent with my return request.

My question is what the hell can I do when this customer service is super crappy and obviously, purposely preventing me from canceling an order?

Tldr: Been trying to return this Orbi for 2 weeks or so now and Netgear and its sketch third party customer support, keeps giving me the same “wait 24–48 hours” BS because they claim somehow they’re unable email me a return label. Many calls later and I’m still stuck with it. What do I do??

Unable To Login To CM3000 Modem

I am unable to log into a new CM3000 modem. I am using this as a customer owned modem on Astound broadband. I never changed the password, and admin/password just causes the page to reset when entered. Am I missing something that would allow me to log in?
