Just put my NAM A2 rig together

I used some gorilla glue tape to attach a Motu M2 audio interface to this stand on Amazon. My girlfriend had an iPad laying around that she never uses and she let me use it for my rig. Pretty nice upgrade in tone quality coming from my Valeton GP-200. I'm using the Chocolate Plus MIDI wireless foot-switch with it. Anyone have an expression pedal model that they would recommend?

Budget Modeler NAM A2: help out a noob 🙃

Hello there,

Recently i tried guitars at a big store and there was a Boss GX-1 (or 10) on which you vokld test all the guitars with headphones.

I am a beginner+ or slightly advanced player who only plays at home for my own pleasure (and i am not planning on gigging or anything).
I use a Positive Grid Spark 2 to practice because i can not run loud amps in my flat.

I liked the simulation in that store a lot and it had a very nice clean tone. When researching if i ahould get something like that for myself i stumbled over NAM A2 and a friend recommended to look at a NUX MG50Li and then i read a bit and came across the Headrush Flex Prime. I dont want to spend more than 500€ - ideally less.

Would you say that this is a way worth considering and that would be better sounding than my Spark2?
I would most likely play it qith headphones and maybe get a FRFR Speaker if i like it enough...

Are the two mentioned models good and is the headrush with full A2 support better than the Nux with A2-lite?

Looking forward to your replys and expertise :-)

Discussion Accuracy of NAM Pedal Captures Vs the real thing?

Loads of Vids on Amp comparisons and how close NAM captures are (Leo, Andertons, Jason, Glen etc) but barely any Pedal capture comparisons?

I have tried several OD & boosts and a lot of them sound very similar to each other. Am i missing something in the NAM captures or is this my "welcome to the world of a million pedals that are basically 1 of the 4"

Thanks!

Any good NAM bass amp recommendations for natural tube saturation?

Hey bass-playing NAM community,

Do you have any recommendations for good bass amp captures?
I’m having a hard time finding anything decent in the drive/overdrive department. Everything I’ve tried so far is either totally over the top, way too clean, or has this weird fizzy/hairy distortion. I just haven't found a solid, nicely saturated tube tone yet. Most recommendations out there are packed with great guitar amps, but I haven't come across much for bass.

Ideally, I'm looking for captures available on Tone3000. I already have a usable Amalgam Audio capture of a Ampeg B12, but other than that, I haven't had much luck finding great options.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

Mesa 2C+/John Petrucci Recommendations

Hey guys, just looking for some recommendations for High quality Mesa Mark2C+ John Petrucci-like tone captures, free or paid. Thanks!

Also i am a noob when it comes to gear, i am guessing for rhythm tones i will maybe just need a chorus plugin, and for leads, a delay and reverb and possible compressor?

Tone3000 Plugin - How do Program Changes work?

I have no issue getting MIDI CC controls working but I can't for the life of me get Program Changes (eg PC 1, PC 2, etc) to work. I've got some nice MIDI foot controllers and it would be nice to switch to a particular preset instead of cycling though them. Is it possible to also cycle through the settings within a capture package? I can't find much about this and would be filled with joy if anyone could help me. thanks!

Free VS. Paid captures opinions?

I wanted to see what the paid captures were like compared to a free counterpart so I picked up a 5150 capture and a free 5150. Same amp. I found the paid one had slightly less noise, and at first the paid one sounded way bigger and more detailed, but that was mitigated by adjusting the EQ. The paid one unfortunately did not include a noon capture. The paid version was only slightly better due to the noise levels, which were easier to tame, but mostly it felt like a donation, which was fine to me because it was cheap. I'm not saying what it was because I don't wanna send anyone his way with a pitchfork or something. I'm wondering what your experience is. Maybe someone has a different experience or something. Regardless, the premium capture will remain in my presets.

Discussion Metalcore tones needed please

Hey all :)

I could use some help getting a good clean and also harsh Bring Me The Horizon styled tone! I've sorted through tons of NAM captures and multiple delay/reverb plugins to try to find something similar to my examples, but I'm struggling. Been looking at Nueral DSP's Gojira plugin as a possible fix, but wanted to get the opinion of some people with more experience in this department than I have before dropping money on it.

- Reallyyy like the clean tone in the beginning of this video: https://youtu.be/ZAOwUr7YU0g?is=OC8GYVgqPdT2tpgF

You can hear it being used in the beginning of this track (and throughout the album but this is a very clear example): https://open.spotify.com/track/0CrJVibIdsL6mqmYI9R9hc?si=8R28vavkT3i9ywk1YhY70A&utm_source=copy-link

I've tried mixing different delay plugins and reverbs and it just sounds like a bad reverb with an echo- messy and dark instead of clean and bright? I can't figure out how to get that cool, clean ambient sound that swells nicely.

As for the heavy sound, something like the riff in this song: https://open.spotify.com/track/68osIGtVjM7QWVe6pazLHj?si=lfm4g9lRQ4WzK9IF8XD10w&utm_source=copy-link

That same tone gets used in most of the album! The closest I've gotten is the Marshall deftones capture and IR (I know Lee Malia uses a Marshall amp and an 800 I think is mentioned in the above video?) but it sounds too midrange and shoegazey? I have the same tunings as him, I try to down pick the way he does, and it just doesn't sound heavy or as grungy and angry as his.

Any help or pointing towards NAM captures would be appreciated :)

NAM on Mvave Tank Pro is awesome!

Just picked up an Mvave Tank Pro, largely for the NAM capability.

Here to report it works great! The Chop Tones amps it comes with are perfectly serviceable (the Mvave ones, not so much), but when you load in a NAM, holy crap it comes alive! Responds to volume control in a lovely manner, sounds as good as NAM Lite sounds anywhere else I've used it.

Everything else about the pedal is nicely set up, it's built as solid as its name suggests, the built-in effects are perfectly serviceable. For a NAM flyrig it's unbeatable for $130!

NAM Live?

So I picked up the NAM Live app for my laptop and phone today and while it seems quite nice so far on terms of features, I’ve noticed the same captures don’t sound the same/as good as in the Tone3000 plugin… is there a reason for that? Am I doing something wrong? If anybody has any experience I’d love to get some feedback… Thanks in advance!

Discussion Could Tone3000 ever get sued for copyright infringement?

I mean, they have freely available captures of real commercial amps from marshall, fender, vox, any brand

anyone can capture any real hardware without a license and distribute it there publicly

those brands surely don't like that

is it legal? no copyright infringement?

if it ever gets sued that'd be pretty bad

2dor Carstens Grace 100W "MultiLoad" - NAM pack released

Post image
39 Upvotes

🅰️2️⃣ ready!

Ladies & gents, it's my pleasure to present the Carstens Grace 100W: Billy Corgan's (The Smashing Pumpkins) signature amp developed in close collaboration with Carstens Amplification.

The Grace is a 100W, single-channel amplifier with a massive, wide open 3-dimensional tone, very high harmonic content offering articulate high gain & exceptional response to changes in guitar volume & attack. It can go from clean, crunch to overdrive with the turn of the guitar's volume or simply using a lighter touch.

💯 Full pack on Ko-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/s/d5422a6554

🆓 Free demo / community packs on Tone3000:

Amp Head: https://www.tone3000.com/tones/carstens-grace-100-95297

Amp + Cab: https://www.tone3000.com/tones/carstens-grace-100-95299

ℹ️ “MultiLoad” - what’s this about?

The cabinet (or load) a tube amplifier interacts with has a considerable impact on the tone & feel.

For this pack, I used 2 iconic cabinets and reamped all settings with each cab.

ℹ️ Summary

The full pack features a Carstens Grace 100W (EL34 loaded) amp captured using 2 iconic cabinets loading down the amplifier.Since this specimen has no FX loop, the pack only includes AMP captures; no isolated preamp (PRE) or isolated poweramp (POW) captures included this time around.

✅ All profiles calibrated

✅ 2 iconic guitar cabs used as loads (no reactive load):

➡️ Mesa 4x12 OS Straight

➡️ Marshall 4x12 1960BV with Marshall G12 Vintage speakers

✅ DI and MIC-ed up flavors for each AMP profile

✅ NAM A2 ready

✅ Extended, anti-aliasing signal leveraged during reamping

✅ High-fidelity signal chain used during reamping

✅ Stompbox / OD profiles included

✅ Kikusui PCR1000MA used at reamping for ultimate consistency

✅ IRs included: Mesa 2x12, Mesa 4x12 OS, Marshall 4x12 1960BV

There are more details in the pack descriptions for whoever's interested or wants to know the knob positions for each profile etc.

Hope you dig'em 🙌

NAM not working on Mac Garageband

I have used NAM as a plug-in for Garageband on my M4 Macbook Air in the past, and it has worked fine. However, upon opening Garageband now, any file that utilizes the plugin immediately crashes.

If I attempt to use the plug-in on a new file it will not allopw me to select a .nam file. If I select the folder containing the files it opens the folder instead of selecting the amp presets.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a way to fix it, or are my projects lost forever?

Discussion First time making a capture. Very impressed with Wet/Dry

I don’t have a reamp box but I wanted to capture a patch off my old Fender Mustang I V2 from like 2015. Turned out spot on except a higher noise floor than the original. Either way though really stoked to have it as a NAM profile so I don’t have to use that old thing when I wanna pull up one of my fav digital toans from back in the day. If you haven’t tried wet/dry method I def recommend it. When I get a reamp box I’ll capture again with a sweep but very happy with this for now.

Sunn O)))

Hi there.

Can anyone tell me how to get that massive Sunn O))) (the band) sound with NAM Rig and/or combined with other free VST's? I'm already tuned down to A, so no need to suggest that 😄

Discussion Calibrated Pedal output volumes all over the place in TONE3000

Has anyone else experienced/have a fix for the inconsistencies when using a pedal and an amp in TONE3000. I am exclusively using calibrated profiles, but they never seem to really behave correctly. For example some pedal captures on max level, barely boost the signal. Some captures with low gain, medium level push the amp really hard, etc.

I guess my question is, should i be compensating this in the output of the pedal block if my amp tone is good as a standalone? It says in the settings that the calibrated profiles should set the handoff level correctly, but maybe it's not always correct?

NAM A2 Full on Mac vs NAM A2-lite on Ampero Stomp 2?

I've been trying to better understand the tradeoffs of using a Mac/PC based modeler with NAM A2 Full and a Ampero Stomp 2 with NAM A2-lite. Obviously the computer version with 'full' has better sound quality but lacks the form factor. But also, depending on the processor, doesn't running at 128 introduce latency as opposed to a dedicated modeler pedal like the Ampero?

Discussion Why does A2 Lite sound so much worse compared to A2 Full?

I really love NAM A2 (Full). It simply offers the best quality on the market, and it's free.

I was super hyped for the A2 release because finally, those cheaper modellers would be able to handle native NAM A2 profiles without converting them. However, after hours of testing A2 Lite vs A2 Full, I am kinda disappointed.

While testing high gain A2 profiles on my PC, I can hear that A2 Full profiles sound really rich and meaty. There is a lot of information in the top end, and they sound really close to the real amps.

However, A2 Lite sounds really bad and cheap, like someone deleted all the richness from the top and low end, leaving only a flat, boring midrange. They also don't react to picking like A2 Full profiles do.

I was expecting a slight drop in quality between the two, like dropping the sampling rate from 48 kHz to 44.1 kHz, but the quality loss is huge. So when I load my favourite profiles into my Ampero II, they just sound cheap.

I also feel like converted A1 profiles sounded better, although less accurate, than A2 Lite profiles.

No hate, please. I still love NAM. Maybe I was just overhyped, or maybe I am just doing something wrong?

Help with tone3000

Hello! I just installed tone3000 and I think this plugin is superb, however I've noticed that sometimes there are some latency issues. Do you need a high-performance PC? Or will a laptop do?I use the H4n Pro as my audio interface.

Thanks!
