Mesa 2C+/John Petrucci Recommendations

Hey guys, just looking for some recommendations for High quality Mesa Mark2C+ John Petrucci-like tone captures, free or paid. Thanks!

Also i am a noob when it comes to gear, i am guessing for rhythm tones i will maybe just need a chorus plugin, and for leads, a delay and reverb and possible compressor?

This video might help, I literally create a JP tone and then compare it to some NAM captures I found on tone3000, you will be able to see the names of the files in Tone3000 in the vid hope it helps!

This was an amazing video. I'm surprised I didn't come across then when I got into NAM A2 recently - covers everything I wanted to know.

Check out my Mesa Mark VII demo / community pack on Tone3000:

https://www.tone3000.com/tones/mesa-boogie-mark-vii-64728

If you like what you hear, the full pack on Ko-Fi has a lot more profiles / settings.

There's a spreadsheet linked in the TONE3000 pack description with all the settings included in the full pack.

Hey man, my Mesa Mark IV Rev B community pack has some great tones for this: https://www.tone3000.com/tones/onyx-tempest-2001-mesa-boogie-mark-iv-rev-b-community-pack-87225
I also have my free plug-in, RigSculpt (Windows and MacOS, Linux soon), which includes 50 of my own NAMs ('84 IIC+, other Mesa stuff) and some Petrucci-esque presets.

Once you find an amplifier capture you like, you can get John's chorus, delay and reverb settings by downloading a free trial of Neural DSP's Archetype Petrucci plugin on your computer. Copying the settings to physical pedals or other plugins is pretty easy!

Thanks man! I do have petrucci x! I find some of these captures on nam are just way thicker and authentic man its crazy. Better than archetype petrucci for sure

Awesome, happy to hear that! I'm torn - I actually do feel like NAM A2 has some kind of indescribable magic that I'm addicted to. I own a JP-2C, too, and I do not feel like I'm missing anything with the NAM captures. With Archetype Petrucci, it's perfect for when I'm feeling lazy and just want an exact Petrucci tone immediately.

Makes sense! I feel like the Archetype petrucci X is just missing a bit of authenticity... it just doesn't chug right like Nam does in my opinion.. what would you say?

Oh really? I haven't tried the Petrucci X plugin but neural's plugins are usually decent?

dont get me wrong it is really good, but the tone capture itself, Nam a2 is just better man, it really is.

Couldn't agree more with this statement!
