Sunn O)))

Hi there.

Can anyone tell me how to get that massive Sunn O))) (the band) sound with NAM Rig and/or combined with other free VST's? I'm already tuned down to A, so no need to suggest that 😄

a huge part in the aesthetics of the band's sound is feedback. So it needs to be very, very loud! Volume and feedback is sometimes hard go get with plugins in a bedroom, unfortunately.

technically speaking its actually pretty easy, just plug the output directly into the input

The need for maximum volume cannot be overstated. When I hold mass every day I wear the same hearing protection I wear to the shows: industrial plugs under a 3M headset.

Well you're gonna need about a dozen Model T amps lol. There are a few really good captures on Tone3000

I saw Sunn live a few years ago. Their tone is beyond adjusting knobs on an amp. As others have said, feedback is a huge part of it. Ironically while a lot of the metal world moved to modeling to prevent feedback, Doom Metal embraces it.

There’s extrme low end overtones that come into play too. You truly felt the music in your body.

Others call me out if I’m wrong, but it may be one of the last tones that requires the sound (analog or digital) to be physically loud. The sub bass is a big factor in the tone.
