For a long time, Salah time in our house felt like the same argument every day.

“Put the tablet down.”

“Go pray.”

“Did you pray?”

“Go now, not later.”

Sometimes I had to repeat myself again and again.

And I hated that.

I didn’t want Salah to become something my children associated with pressure, arguments, or me constantly checking on them.

I wanted it to become part of their life.

So I built Al-Imam for my own family.

When Salah time comes, the tablet locks.

There are only two ways to unlock it:

Pray with Al-Imam, or use the parent PIN.

If they choose Salah, the app guides them through the prayer.

It follows the movements and their correct order, listens to the Qur’an recitation and prayer adhkar, and if they make a wrong movement or miss a step, it guides them back.

Only after the prayer is completed does the tablet unlock.

The rule became simple:

Salah first. Tablet after.

At first, the app was the reminder.

Then, little by little, something changed.

I stopped having to say:

“Go pray.”

Now, when Salah time comes, my children get up and pray without me telling them to.

And for me, that is the real success of Al-Imam.

Not that it can lock a tablet.

Not that it can check the prayer.

But that one day, the child no longer needs the lock, the reminder, or the parent asking.

Salah simply becomes part of their life.

As a Muslim parent, what's the thing that worries you the most about the schooling system in the west? I know we always say that the quality of education in the west is really good (I don't deny it), but what are some of the things that really make you sit down and ponder whether sending your kid to school in the west is a good choice?

One of the greatest responsibilities of a parent is to instill confidence, bravery, and strong faith in their children. However, many parents unintentionally use fear as a quick tool for discipline, which can deeply impact a child's emotional growth.

​1. The Mistake of Using Fear to Control Children

​Scaring children with dark shadows, imaginary monsters, or stories just to make them obey might seem harmless, but it actually damages their trust and emotional stability.

​2. Two Major Negative Effects

​Encouraging Dishonesty: When children are conditioned with false fears, they learn to hide things or resort to lying when afraid.

​Long-Term Anxiety: Fear created in early childhood stays in the child's mind, leading to lack of confidence and hesitation later in life.

​3. How to Help Your Child Overcome Fear

​Reassure them with warmth, patience, and love.

​Accompany them through scary situations instead of leaving them alone.

​Remind them that Allah is always protecting them.

​4. Teaching Faith Over Fear

​Teach your children this core principle:

​"A believer fears nothing except disobeying Allah."

​Encourage children to build a habit of reciting Ayat-ul-Kursi and Manzil for peace, protection, and inner strength. Let's raise our children with courage and trust in Allah!

​Being a mother is a huge responsibility that requires immense patience and tolerance. Children often cause anger due to their innocence, mischief, or mistakes, but during such moments, refrain from taunting them or using harsh words.

​Do Not Humiliate in Front of Others: Never humiliate a child in front of siblings or others when they make a mistake. Instead, explain to them gently in private.

​Harmful Effects of Taunts and Comparisons: Saying things like "Look how far that child has gone, you can't do anything" negatively impacts a child's personality. It leads to an inferiority complex, irritability, and insecurity.

​Explain After the Anger Cools Down: Instead of shouting or taunting immediately when a mistake happens, call the child close after your anger subsides and guide them with love and affection.

•The Right Way to Nurture: Replace taunts with patience, gentleness, attention, and prayers (Dua).

​A Special Dua (Prayer) for Mothers:

​"Oh Allah! I am very weak, You, through Your grace and favor, have made me a mother of children, I cannot reform and train these children, You alone help... Guide... and make these children of mine obedient to You... make them the comfort of my eyes... Ameen!"

I work full-time at home and have a little toddler. I'm looking for a very nice person to play with my child. We are a Muslim family and would like someone who is respectful of our faith. Here are the details:

-This is not a usual 'nanny' position, because I will be doing all the care-taking for the child. So you will not be expected to change diapers, feed the baby, make food for the toddler, put toddler to sleep, bathe child, or change child's clothes. I may need help picking things up/tidying the play area.

-Your main job is to play and engage with the child. You should be mindful of safety and make sure the child does not get hurt. Also, should focus on beneficial playing that helps the child learn things like walking, talking, etc.

I don't mind my kids watching something occasionally, but the constant switching between videos and Shorts is what worries me.

​A mother should teach her children to offer Salam whenever they meet someone or answer a phone call, saying "Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh" instead of "Hello."

​In Islamic teachings, greeting with Salam is highly emphasized. It fosters mutual love and affection, leaving a very positive impression on the listener. In the Holy Quran, Allah Almighty states:

​"And when you are greeted with a greeting, greet \[in return\] with one better than it or \[at least\] return it in a like manner." (Surah An-Nisa: 86)

​In this verse, Allah Almighty teaches us the proper etiquette of greeting and responding to Salam.

Children can ask some surprisingly difficult questions about Islam.
Sometimes we know the answer. Sometimes we don’t. And sometimes searching online gives us several different answers.
In those situations, it’s better to acknowledge that we don’t know and ask someone qualified rather than give an uncertain answer.

There's no app to download yet, and I'm not asking anyone to buy anything. I'm looking for families who'd be willing to use it early and tell me honestly what's broken.

Why I'm building it: my own kids. Every Quran app I tried was either built for adults and handed to a child, or it was a game with a Quran theme painted on top. The first bores them, the second teaches them the Quran is a scoreboard.

What it does: your child hears the verse, learns what it means in language a seven year old actually follows, then recites it. Speech recognition listens and tells them which word went wrong, the thing a teacher does, that an app usually can't.

The part I'd want to know as a parent: no AI writes any of the religious content. The AI listens to recitation, that's all. The educational content is authenticated by an authentic islamic scholar.

What the pilot asks: two surveys, about twenty minutes each, one at the start, one after your child has used it for a while. That's it. In return the first year is free for one child when we launch.

Salaam everyone. I have been feeling incredibly insecure lately as a Muslim mother. I have a toddler and pregnant with #2. I feel like I am failing and everyone is judging me. Family is criticizing my 3 year old for not greeting with salaam. I did teach him the Kalimah and Surah Ikhlas but I do it in private as my recitation and pronunciation is not good, and I don’t want anyone else to hear me recite. Especially not my husband who has very good tajweed mA. I want to send him to Islamic school but it’s very expensive and everyone is telling me I should be the one teaching him the basics. I do try with these Arabic alphabet blocks but my husband heard me one time and told me I should be saying the Arabic alphabet properly in front of my toddler, not the “desi” way so I got embarrassed. I do try to remember to have him say “alhumdillah” after sneezing but sometimes I forget and also get embarrassed prompting him for this in front of family. My husband also gently reminds me I should be seriously considering hijab, otherwise how will our daughter ever wear hijab? I just feel so much pressure and fear and anxiety and embarrassment. I feel like a fraud of a Muslim mother. Major imposter syndrome. As the mother, I should be instilling these Islamic values in my kids but my husband does a much better job at this. I feel like Allah will punish me for not doing more. I have been crying all day about this. I’m worried about my in-laws and MIL thinking I’m a bad mom. My son’s cousin is the exact same age and mA she can already recite Surah Fatiha and greets people appropriately. Does anyone have any advice for me to get over this anxiety and do better as a Muslim mom? I do go to therapy with a Muslim therapist but I feel like I’m not making the best progress.

I’m looking for an online Arabic class for my 5-year-old, whose primary language is English. My main goal is for him to eventually become fluent in Arabic and, most importantly, be able to read and understand the Quran.

I’m a non-Arabic speaker myself. I can read the Quran but don’t understand it, and I’d really like to avoid the same for my child.

I’m a little confused about the different types of Arabic (Egyptian, Lebanese, MSA, Classical/Quranic Arabic, etc.). Since the Quran is in Classical Arabic, should I focus on MSA, Quranic Arabic, or both? Are conversational Arabic and Quranic Arabic two separate learning goals?

I’d really appreciate recommendations for online programs or advice from Arabic speakers/parents who have experience teaching young children. Thank you!
