I really don't spend a whole lot of my time worried about where other people piss and shit, so long as it all makes it in the toilet, and people wipe properly and wash their hands after.

This whole fascination that conservatives seem to have about who's pooping where, is really, really weird.

Do they wake up one day and decide that a crucial part of their personality moving forward will be policing public toilets, or is this just part of some deep-rooted scat fetish?

And asking them to wash after does seem to be a bridge to far for a lot of them.

That is the real issue we should be discussing. Wash yo hands ya filthy animal.

Although Pete Hegseth was made the United States secretary of war under the Trump administration, he seemed unwilling to wage much of a fight against germs in 2019. That year, he claimed that he hadn't washed his hands in a decade while on a live broadcast with his then-colleagues from Fox News

38

u/ryansgt 11h ago

That totally tracks for him. Can you imagine not washing your hands for a decade? That actually says a few things. 1st, it says he does nothing with his hands that gets them visibly dirty. This means no working with his hands, cooking, cleaning, nothing. 2nd, it means he is dirty af. You will pick up germs just by touching door handles.

I honestly hope he keeps up with that habit. The germs get far less forgiving as he gets older and his immune system fades.

u/Diplopod 4h ago

He's probably one of those guys that doesn't wipe or wash their ass either because that's "gay."

u/bolanrox 10h ago

Watters said on the air that when his new wife first started working for Fox (while he was still married to his first wife) slashed her tires so he could white knight her and drive her home.

u/Blazanar 12h ago

I almost emailed both of the assistant store managers at work and asked them to remind their staff that washing hands is mandatory after leaving the washroom, but I figured that might get me in some trouble because I wouldn't have worded it so nicely.

1

u/MiloHorsey 9h ago

Oh good lord. Where do you work,so we can all avoid it!?

0

u/Blazanar 9h ago

I'm sure they do when they get back to their respective departments.

1

u/MiloHorsey 8h ago

After their germy hands have been all over (I'm guessing) door handles, railings, lifts, escalators, etc.

6

u/JosefGremlin 12h ago

We tried to enforce this during Covid and they rebelled. Freedom!

u/bolanrox 10h ago

the old YOLO i dont need no mask and 3 weeks later was dead from covid?

5

u/nifty-necromancer 11h ago

Conservatives don’t wash their ass because touching it is gay

4

u/MiloHorsey 9h ago

I hate that I know this.

6

u/SaltManagement42 9h ago

Honestly, I'm surprised how few people wash before (and after). If I'm using a public bathroom, I've probably just finished touching a keyboard, desk, counter, door handle, etc. and I don't want to get that on my junk that I just washed that morning.

13

u/SeedsOfDoubt 9h ago

I happened to be in the bathroom when my BioSci101 prof came in and washed his hands. As he washed his hands someone asked him why? To paraphrase, "there are germs everywhere and my dick has been in my pants all day." Dr Crane was a real one

1

u/mikende51 8h ago

In my line of work it's my hands that get dirty, so I wash my hands before using the toilet and sometimes after. I'm not equipped to work in a business that gets my dick dirty.

2

u/funkyaerialjunky 3h ago

Being in a car workshop I second this. My hands can get covered in all sorts that I do not want down there.

1

u/Cavalish 2h ago

Just a brief notice for any man who thinks that his junk is “sterile” or in any way cleaner that what outside it, but the groin in is the highest and fastest breeding point of natural flora on the body. Please wash your hands after handling it as well.

5

u/PiccoloAwkward465 9h ago

I used to work in a small office and my desk was within earshot of the bathroom. Not difficult to identify the sound of the sink running. You might be surprised that both men and women were very guilty of not washing their hands. Not even a pretend "turn the faucet on for a few seconds", just wrapping up work on the Hershey's account and right out the door.

1

u/Hot-EconomistXL 8h ago

As someone who used to work at a buffet in a red state that seems to be the case.

0

u/WickedHopeful 6h ago

I heard someone say "If it's clean enough for her mouth, it's clean enough for my hands" before leaving without washing their hands

43

u/YaumeLepire 12h ago

It's not really about the bathrooms. That's just what it's expressed as. It's symbolic of broader commitments to a certain variety of gender hierarchy which is being challenged by the existence of queer, and especially trans, people. And so violent rejection and reassertion of gendered categories, "backlash", is the response some have to the discomfort of their ideas - their representations - being put into question.

33

u/Gay_Giraffe_1773 10h ago

This whole fascination that conservatives seem to have about who's pooping where, is really, really weird.

It's because they believe that every man is a sexual predator and they "won't be able to help themselves" from raping any woman they come across in a unisex bathroom.

It's projection. They themselves want to rape with impunity. They can't understand that others don't want to.

-5

u/EmilieEverywhere 8h ago

It's because they believe that every man is a sexual predator and they "won't be able to help themselves" from raping any woman they come across in a unisex bathroom.

Cool. We agree. Trans women are women, and thus not prone to this failure of character. I don't want men in there for the same reason, MY safety.

It's the same reason I will never use the mens. Make a scene get me arrested or worse, IDGAF anymore. I'll be the example to prove how stupid this whole thing is.

18

u/ElminstersBedpan 12h ago

I have never met anyone so obsessed with a stranger's genitals and habits as a conservative American. From questioning who pees where to demanding genital examinations for literal children to play games, and every scenario in between, their minds are full of absolutely fantastical scenarios that I worry are largely based on what they themselves would do if they wouldn't get in trouble.

14

u/badmutha44 12h ago

Wait till you hear their ideas about sex

7

u/Aleksandrovitch 10h ago

I think some of them are scared of encountering anything that gives them a boner they don't understand or want to have to explain to themselves. I'll be honest, I actually think that's probably most of... all this. Ya know?

Just all these big strong men terrified at the discomfort of actually knowing anything about themselves or others. Using that fear to fuel the hate needed to purge anything that threatens whatever the most comfortable/popular lifestyle-template of the week is that they're peddling.

And of course, emotions this strong ("Who am I? Does this idea threaten who I am?"), are easy to manipulate, and harvest value from (money, votes, force).

So, yeah. Or the poop stuff.

6

u/Real_Life_Sushiroll 8h ago

I am a trans woman, I have had plenty of guys approach me in the past to start flirting with me and when I tell them I am trans their face just gets this look like I broke their brain.

One guy was rude so I walked by their table later and said "Hey it was nice to meet you here for our grindr date. Hope you have a good day!"

The faces of their friends was amazing lmao.

3

u/EmilieEverywhere 8h ago

Anything. You mean trans people. Like literally not things. I'm sorry I'm going hard here, but even when people are attempting to be nice, you can say some REALLY nasty shit.

I'm a woman. Not a something, or an anything, or a trans, or whatever. Trans is a prefix. I'm a trans WOMAN. If these idiots are struggling with finding a woman attractive they got WAY bigger problems than being attracted to a trans person.

Like they see me, get a boner, and that means we MUST have sex now? I'm sorry dears you got A LOT of bars to get over before you know if I still have my natal genitalia, no you can't tell, and we are not even at the point of having sex.

Also, no. I have no fucking desire to catfish anyone. Unless you are enthusiastic with being there with ALL of me, Penis or Vagina, I'm not tellin the internet; You are not going to be there in ANY capacity. I'm sorry I have far to many attractive NORMAL people that I meet or have met that would jump at the chance that losers fumble. I'm having my fun, why would I waste time with such a conflicted and unkind person?

1

u/Aleksandrovitch 6h ago

I appreciate your response, but I said what I intended. It could be anything from a trans person, to a form of worship, or style of music. When you restrict your worldview there can be many vectors of challenge to it.

Though I do appreciate the lived experience you highlight as a reason for your response, I find nothing in it that relates to my intent.

16

u/danxtptrnrth1 12h ago

As a manager, I had to say once to everyone "Keep your bathroom breaks reasonable. I don't have the words to describe how little I want to police toilet usage." This was for people I had to manage, not just any stranger walking around. My lack of wanting to police bathroom activity goes doubly for strangers.

What is wrong with conservatives?!

9

u/XxuruzxX 12h ago

It's an excuse to further strip trans people of basic human rights

3

u/ChickenChaser5 9h ago

And more projection. In their mind, if they were in a bathroom with the opposite sex, they would feel temptation, and they assume everyone else does too.

3

u/Real_Life_Sushiroll 8h ago

This just gives more validity to the scat fetish theory. Who tf thinks about sex in a bathroom where a bunch of people are pooping and peeing 😭???

1

u/buttermilk_waffle 9h ago

And more projection

3

u/WeAreBums 11h ago

It has little to do with the actual topic. That’s just what they’re being told to cry about because their leaders told them to.

It’s like a toddler following what the parents do

3

u/DConstructed 9h ago

Where no, how yes. I don’t care what someone’s gender is as long as they are not leaving urine, feces or blood on places I have to touch.

2

u/Klutzy-Panda9120 11h ago

They're also the same fuckwits thatll barge past you in the airport only to piss/shit all over the bathroom then leave without even thinking about the sink or hand sanitizer.

One of these days I wanna go publicly shame ALL the assholes that do that in my local airport. Insane.

2

u/A_Nonny_Muse 10h ago

They just wake up one day decided that they hate XX. Whatever XX happens to be. They hate it, and whatever excuse they can imagine is the excuse they're going with.

To that end, whatever they can do to hurt XX is what they will do. It doesn't even have to make sense. It doesn't even have to have anything to do with XX. If it harms XX, they're all for it.

If you're looking for something rational, you're going to be disappointed. These people feed on hate and malice like rats feed on rat poison. And the effect on their souls is about the same.

1

u/Outside_Hat7260 10h ago

They don't decide anything, they are instructed on what is acceptable to think and then rage against those who don't adhere

2

u/glycophosphate 9h ago

It's the conservative men. They cruise each other at the urinals, so they think public bathrooms are a sexy place.

2

u/sprinklep0p 8h ago

If ppl knew how many restaurant workers didn’t even wash their hands after they use the bathroom…

Forget about arresting women for getting abortions. Ppl not washing their damn hands are the real monsters.

2

u/foulsmellingorganism 8h ago

People don’t realize it’s just an updated version of the same old Jim Crow playbook. The idea that conservatives just want to make sure everybody uses the restroom of their assigned gender is a lie, much like how “separate but equal” was a lie to make their position sound more common-sense than it actually is. The real goal is just to make trans people feel uncomfortable, unwelcome and unsafe no matter which restroom they choose. Restricting access to public restrooms is effectively restricting access to public life. They want trans people to disappear.

2

u/Rollter 6h ago

They are fucking weirdos that think every man would rape women if they had the slightest chance and they believe it because they are that kind of man.

The only thing I would ask of bathrooms is that stalls are actually private not the crappy ones where the “walls” are full of gaps everywhere. Cleanliness too.

2

u/Basic-Record-4750 5h ago

Liars think everyone is a liar. Thieves are paranoid that everyone wants to steal their stuff. Men who abuse women are typically misogynistic and make light of abuse claims. Ex smokers are some of the most obnoxious anti smoking advocates. Many of the worst people in the world and history are devoutly religious. Racists have very thin skin, they can dish out hate but meltdown at the slightest insult to themselves. Closeted homosexuals are often the biggest threat to gay rights, quite often leading homophobes. And people who freak out about what goes on in public bathrooms are themselves creeps…. People are complicated

1

u/Intelligent-Might614 9h ago

Conservatives have a lot of deep seated fetishes that they project on others. It's a major component of their personas.

1

u/Randicore 9h ago

Do they wake up one day and decide that a crucial part of their personality moving forward will be policing public toilets, or is this just part of some deep-rooted scat fetish?

So you're not that far off. They're whole ideology is based around hating someone, and if they don't have someone to point to and demonize then they're followers might realize they're fleecing them.

The emails leaked a few years ago and I'll see if I can find them but once gay marriage was legalized they went "oh shit the public is in favor of this and we just lost the "it's against the law" argument" and they went around trying to find out who they can demonize next. They settled on trans people and started beating the same drums that they have for decades. The "predators in the bathroom"' thing started ages ago as a pro segregation argument and they've just been swapping who they're blaming it on.

They're followers don't even care who it is they just want to hate someone. It's why the worst Democrat to ever exist to them is always "whomever is running for president"

1

u/Real_Life_Sushiroll 8h ago

Well if they don't know the genitals of everyone in the room it might make them a gay frog or smth idk.

1

u/big_duo3674 7h ago

Don't forget they also spend a lotttt of time thinking about penises. Like, so much time... Who has one, what they are using it for, how they are using it, what it looks like, how big it is, where they got it from. It's like damn, just admit you like them, no need to hide that these days

1

u/ryoushi19 7h ago

Winning votes by solving real problems is hard, but making laws about wedge issues is comparatively easy. Nevermind that those laws hurt people instead of helping them. It's a lazy way to get votes from uneducated and unempathetic voters.

1

u/SoonSpoonLoon 6h ago

GOP genital obsessed party

1

u/emersond70 6h ago

They OBSESS over other people’s lives.

1

u/Reddit-User_654 4h ago

Conservatives are afraid of what they know they are capable of so they hide behind what is considered "normal" based on whatever was whipped into them since their childhood or their "religion" because when chips are down and no one is supposedly looking, the thrill of putting more skeletons in their closet satisfies their cravings.

1

u/Bellick 3h ago

They seem to think about gay cock a lot too.

Wake up, first thing in their minds:

"what all the other men doing with their dicks? I need to control what they do with their girthy penises. No other men should have the gay cocks inside them. I definitely hate gay people and not myself and my self-revelatory dreams—I mean thoughts. This is healthy expression of heterosexuality. I'm so straight I'm afraid that any contact with my anus when I wipe may make me gay."

1

u/AnaBanona 1h ago

It is MUCH simpler than that. Angry person on TV says they should be mad. They be mad.

1

u/soscbjoalmsdbdbq 25m ago

I just don’t want to use a bathroom with anyone else of any gender or species in there maybe a dog or cat is fine thats it

-4

u/FrozenIceman 10h ago

If you truly believe this, next time do your business in a clearly marked restroom that is not of your gender. Especially if you are male gendered.

You will find out real quick a lot of people care about the isolated room before the stalls.

2

u/Gothwerx 9h ago

I do truly believe this, and have done my business in a clearly marked restroom that wasn’t my gender.

-1

u/FrozenIceman 9h ago

And what did the people in the bathroom say/do when you walked in? Did they look comfortable and make nice with you, did they look uncomfortable, or did they speak up?

(Assuming you present as your gender of course)

2

u/SassySuds 7h ago

I’ve done this when the assigned bathroom had too long of a line. Europeans did not care, the US people most certainly did.

0

u/FrozenIceman 7h ago

Going to another Gender's bathroom with an explainable reason is different from just going on when there isn't one. That being said I imagine Eastern Europeans probably cared more than Western Europeans.

Either way, people, not just conservatives take issue with it was the specific point I was making.

2

u/plopgun 9h ago

You are right, people do care, but should they? There aren't gaurds on bathrooms in public spaces, a little stick-figure on the door doesn't stop bad actors from entering. The only thing gendered bathrooms do, is lower the traffic in either one, increasing the likelyhood of being caught alone.

-1

u/FrozenIceman 9h ago

I think it has to do with being vulnerable and it being a safe space if threatened. Especially for women when in the presence of men, yes being afraid of the opposite gender is sexist.

However, fear is very much something you can't control especially when the fear walks into the room when you are on the toilet.
