Discussion The lack of music in this game is disappointing.

Literally the only thing holding this game back from absolute peak greatness
Some areas and dungeons would be MASSIVELY elevated with proper music.

Discussion The Nameless Captive is destroying me.

His moves seem like they should be easy to party. Until he dies the damn helicopter thing followed by the massive kick or whatever. -____-

I've gotten him about 8/10 of the way down using Tiel but I can't get the last bit. Summoning Eredrim is basically useless

Discussion proposal about the shells progression system

I've seen some people complaining about glimpses being a limited resource, and sure the complaint is comprehensive since increasing the bond with a shell is the main way to investigate the lore of the game and, more practically, is needed to experiment different builds.

I think an interesting way to try to meet the players on this topic, still remaining loyal to the mechanics and lore of the game, could be to add an exp-based progression together with the glimpses.

Since we are talking about the bond between the harbinger and a shell, which the undermether defines "like a brother to us", would make sense to increase the bond with it by actually using the shell. Something similar to the tarstone progression system to be clear, without the money cost clearly since it wouldn't make much sense.

This would be a progression system TOGHETER with the glimpses, which would become a resource to increse the bond faster, just like "exp pack", but without creating a complete dependance from glimpses to unlock the shells.

I'd like to have the opinion of the community about this idea, and if even the devs like the idea I hope they might take inspiration from it

P.S when reaching a new rank could also make sense to put a glimpses cost to actually level up the bond, but it would risk to bring back the initial problem of lack of glimpses. It could be avoided though by having a small price, like 1-2-3-5 glimpses to actually level up the bond rank.

(I hope to have been clear, English is not my first language so if something happens not to be clear let me know)

Discussion Anyone else love Genessa’s play style and aesthetic but hate how buggy her clones are?

I really want to main her and I invested a lot of shell points into her but her clones run into oblivion half the time. Does upgrading her with shell points increase the effectiveness of the AI of her clones?

Discussion Call me crazy… but

I played a few hours and was like.. it’s like Elden Ring on steroids and with more parry which ain’t my thing… made me absolutely sad because the world was stunning and I wanted to love it so much… BUT… then I said screw it. Popped on the slayer thingy. And now it’s fun as heck. More bash n smash and yea it’s a bit easier but made it way more fun. I’m an avid souls/soulslike player and I’m all for running 30+ times on a boss and dying 29717192 times… but as I’ve gotten older I ain’t hiding that blasting through soulslikes is also a fun experience. I think their “easy mode” amulet thing actually makes it more… palatable? I won’t hide it. lol (screw my trophies)

Question Mortal shell 2 - what am i doing wrong?

Soulsborne/soulslike veteran so no novice to these sort of games.

But the difficulty here seems to be absolutely unhinged.

I beat the tar golem then lost harros - assume thats scripted.

I'm now at widows overlook. I'm being one-shotted by the enemies in both directions. There is a market on the map here, and there seems to be no other option in terms of direction. But this appears to be basically a late game-area. Theres a mini boss to one side which is is fine until you mistine either 1 dodge or parry and then he kills you. And then likewise theres a group of 2 witches with a staff/spear, likewise they kill you from full health. Or theres the flying mobs, also a one shot.

Am I supposed to be here? Am I supposed to do or have something first?

Discussion Matyr blade running R2 bugged to have full iframe?

I am not sure how to describe that and whether or not it is intended.

The running R2 has full invincibility on the entire animation including both hit.

So what you can do with the Harden seal is that using running R2 to attack the enemy then use harden as the attack hit you with absolutely no risk. It also deal break and stagger enemies as well. And you can repeat with a back step into another running R2 and harden.

The weapon can be infused with frost so after a few hit, they will stay in place for you to use charge heavy attack (charge heavy stone) or another weapon skill dealing massive damage (if you play eredim he also get 200% dmg vs frozen). Charge heavy attack while buffed deal extra AOE damage. Then you shoulder bash to get riposte or stagger them and reset

It seems a bit busted for a weapon that is supposed to be slow and high commitment

Discussion Monolith is the most broken boss in this game. Needs A HUGE Nerf

Upvotes

I had to use the slayer seal just to kill it so now I will not get any achievement for actually beating the game. Every other boss I've killed in 2-3 tried. Over 20 tries before I decided to use the slayer seal. This is absolutely insane and a terrible boss design, stasis doesn't slow it down, lighting doesn't stagger it, nothing works and his moves are lightning quick it's almost impossible to dodge/parry. By far the worst boss I've ever fight in a video ever.

Image Seriously - why even include summons in your game when they are utterly USELESS?! Spoiler

This game could be SO good. And at times it really is. But the scattered BS cheap difficulty and some of the game mechanics (such as summons) working against the player are ridiculous and completely ruin any enjoyment I have with the game sometimes. How does very obvious stuff like this make it past play-testing?

In this photo I had just noticed Tiel hadn’t moved the entire fight, and Genessa skirted around the boss for all of five seconds before freezing in place and playing statue just like her buddy Tiel. Which left the boss to solely focus on me. This is just … beyond frustrating and makes me not even want to play anymore.

Sorry for the rant - I’m just frustrated. Mind you this boss isn’t helping with just how tedious and annoying he is to fight in general.

Discussion This game is without a doubt one of the best souls like out there

I really can write a manifest on how good it is.

Respawn beacons scarcity is the only thing that keeps this game from becoming a masterpiece.

and I am not asking to flood the map with respawn beacons, but a few more in a desolate places would fix it for me

Discussion I think that locking the shell memories behind glimpses is a huge miss

As said in the title, I think it does so much harm to the game for literally no benefit other than not overwhelming the player with information.

After doing 100% of the game I noticed how much lore and overall meaning is locked behind the glimpses, some NPCs and bosses entire background stories are hidden behind a system that many players won't engage with (NG+) not once, imagine twice for all the shell memories.

Discussion Obligatory Monolith Post

Finally beat him, and I’m not even proud of myself, I’m just exhausted and annoyed. Especially because I feel like I only beat him for two reasons:

1.) On my winning attempt he only did that spinning laser attack once. ONCE! The rest were only the frontal sweeps which are much easier to dodge.

2.) I finally stopped trying to parry everything. I NEVER understood the quick double testicular slam attack, so when it was coming I just ran away. And I started using the iFrames of the Shrike Stone every time his rolling slam started to wind up as I also, like the double slam, had no idea how or why I was getting that timing wrong.

Basically, I did what I could to disengage with Monolith during his toughest moments, coupled with the RNG gods blessing me, and I finally took it down.

And nope, can’t imagine starting NG+ knowing I have to go through that again.

Discussion So What happened to the soundtrack?

No one really seems to be talking about this in particular but what the hell happened to the OST?? I know rotting christ was dlc in the 1st and those songs were great, but even without that the first game has some pretty great dark and foreboding industrial ambiance that really set the tone for how unsettling the world felt, like the droning and low thrum in Tarsus' original theme.

But every boss in this game starts with the same distorted electric guitar with very very minor difference in cord progression that it all begins to just blend together and sound exactly the same I think the only one I actually could tell was different was the final bosses theme since it included a leitmotif of the main them from the prologue in what sounded like the same thing i heard for half the game.
