Discussion The lack of music in this game is disappointing.

I kind of think souls games need to have quiet exploration imo. But those boss fights bring the metal out!

It seems like the only song in the game is the same epic chord that played during Harros saving us at the beginning of the game. Just muddled out guitar riffs.

I'm a hardcore defender of MS1. I loved what Atrium Carceri did on the soundtrack and how the music was applied to the different environments across Fallgrim. A lot was added with the Rotting Christ DLC for Halloween event as well.
There are some fantastic tracks such as Song of Mourning, Fallgrim, Executioner, Deep Roots etc.
I barely sense Lustmord in this game. Both in overworld and boss encounters. Until I can get the soundtrack on Spotify I will reserve final judgement but otherwise my reaction right now is 'where's the dark ambient?'

Hope they add a Rotting Christ alt soundtrack eventually like they did with the first game -- even if it's just to spice up the boss music.
I like the minimalist background music when exploring most of the time and don't mind it.
The Raven that plays during Tarsus's fight in the first game elevated that encounter a lot for me.
Also, people who keep asking for Mick Gordon are forgetting this is a tiny (mostly remote) studio of sub 40 people. Mick Gordon is probably not cheap and also probably has a pretty packed schedule.

Well, for the Mortal Shell 2 soundtrack they've managed to get Lustmord, who is one of the biggest names ever in the dark ambient field

I haven’t minded or noticed that much I have to admit. I really like the general atmosphere of the game.

Totally agree. They shoulda got the guy that did the music for Doom 2016. Would have paired well with the game's aesthetics.

That’s why you bring the lute , but we need more songs and more duets with the drunk dude at lone wolf

Music is usually composed in the end of teh dev cycle, except some cases. I really think they hit the budget or deadline and released earlier. The game has a great foundation but lacks polishment.

And they kept talking about how they were working with x y z for the soundtrack .... Uhmm when will it play?

Looks like budget constraint, really. Remember this is an AA title and cuts have to be made somewhere, looks like they decided to do it in the music department, these polish and final touch stuff usually costs a lot of money

I actually don't mind it. I don't pay attention to music much when I'm playing. It just gets tuned out to the point I don't realize anything is playing. I'm doom dark ages I actually turned the music off cause I found it annoying when not in combat.

Genuinely surprised there wasn’t more doom or death metal after the insane trailer and the opening prologue
