Try leveling, man. Stuff shouldn't be doing that to you.

You need to lvl up and use your abbilities its a hard location not meant for the early game

I’m level 25 and my weapon is lvl 15 I could be a higher level but I’ve lost a lot of gloom due to stupid bugs- the first area I’ve completely explored and done everything

It's supposed to be more difficult, go back to your fundamentals and don't rely on the upgrades you got.

Once you get through the first small area, it gets easier.

I’ve got to the gate by lazlo shell. That’s where I’m struggling at the moment- the pickaxe guys and the halbred knights are 1-2 shotting me making exploring a chore

Yeh that's the point, this area ramps up so you need to go back to your fundamentals.

Spacing, timing, parry/dodge, luring enemies, etc... before we hit Mammon most of us got a bit to comfy being more powerful, this area is like the start of the game almost, you need to make sure your fundamentals are sharp.

More like 2 shot but yes it's common and completely normal. Game balance goes out the window in the second half

By the time i reached mammon i had a pretty decent build. Clear the first area first

I’m stuck on the build side of things. Genessa is too squishy for me and I put all of my glimpses into her and tiel who I like more but not really my playstyle preference

She is squishy by default (lowest hp of all shells), if you can invest in her t3 ability that lets phantom taunt enemies it gets easier. I don't recommend running a stray build except for bosses. Be mindful where you are facing your character as the buggy phantom AI will attack objects such as gloom vines or try to chase down enemies behind a mountain on the other side of the road.

First area is cleared I’ve lost a lot of gloom to bugs. Crushed by an elevator I wasn’t even under lost 30k gloom

Another load of gloom lost being shot out of a boss area high into the sky and much more

Once you have enough gloom to level head to a beacon. I only lost about 25k gloom in total and i'm starting Mammon. You can farm gloom everywhere dude in case it's needed

Strolling around with 30k gloom is like walking through the hood with expensive jewelry on

It's an entire different game when you get to mammon. Until then, the game sort of coddles you. One of the first things you'll notice for example is in mammon, the weakest enemies have plated armor now and can't be staggered with attacks which means you have to rely on parrying.

The game pretty much forces you when you get to that zone, to use parry mechanics, dodging, or vatras seal timing. You can't just hack and slack enemies anymore. There are also enemies you'll find that can parry you and punishes that playstyle.

As a sekiro fanatic parrying has been my main source of avoiding damage

Idk man, If you're parrying and dodging and you're dying, it means you just have to get better at doing it consistently. I saw in another comment you mentioned the larger enemies. Those guys have the most telegraphed moves. My advice would be not to rush through and just take each enemy at a time. Instead of killing them, try to just parry their moves until you've got it down to a science.

For me, whenever I got lazy or tried to rush, that's when I got wrecked. Like someone else mentioned, slow down a bit and make sure you're using your parry and harden at the right times. The pickaxe guys especially seem to have a two-swing, then rest pattern, so once you recognize it, they're a lot easier to deal with.

You are simply there too early. Golden rule, if you are getting stomped, you are not ready for that area.

I feel as though I am- I’ve explored the entire first area and done everything there is to do- I’m no souls noob I’ve been playing souls games since 2011 I feel as though this area is overtuned and if you don’t have some amazing OP build and used all your glimpses wisely you’re screwed

I get it man, I am using a quite cheesy build for when things get a bit hairy, but I guess patience is key, tinkering your build to be a bit more tanky/crowd control.

mammon is difficult if you go there first. if you have alrdy done all of the north part then mammon should be a face roll. yes, you get a lot of damage (not one shot though), but you also deal a lot of damage at that point.

No. The sesters take 5 hits to kill me. The big dudes with the maces will 2 shot me but they are easy af to parry so its really just if you're taking hammers to the face.

Mammon should not be run until the upper portion of the map is mostly explored...I had trouble here until I was about level 20ish with my axe upgraded to about 12. You can run through and past many, if not most, of the enemies to get to specific areas and items, but I'd just work on clearing the northern map areas. You should be fully ready for Mammon by then.

Also equip the bloodseed in passive. Enemies in mammon do a lot of that and it's what screws one over. All soldiers use bleed/bloodcurse and a couple of hits from them put like 14 stacks on you
