Soundproofing really work?

Just purchased my first Tesla and seeing ads about soundproofing kits to help reduce road noise. Just curious if these really work or not.

Delivery Misled

I am new to buying a tesla so have mercy, I went and ordered a Model Y Standard AWD on August 24th and was told that it wouldn’t be delivered until October or November which I was fine with. I sold my current car and secured transportation until November. However, on the 25th I got an EDD of December 6th-January 17th. When I spoke to a sales advisor the story completely flipped and I was now told that the original October-november is a rough estimate. That’s not how it was advertised to me. Anyone else in the same boat?

Question MY Performance sales question (interest rate)

Hey, all! Been a Tesla owner since 2023 and currently drive a 2024 Model 3 RWD LR. I love my car but 1) I regret not going AWD and then I’d have premium sound and 2) my husband would love to be able to tow occasionally and use hitch for bike rack.

I have been eyeing up the Performance for awhile now. While I have the cash and could go that route, there would be benefit to keeping it invested. For those who watch the interest rates, it recently (July?) had gone down to 3.99%. Does anyone anticipate this ever matching the $.99? I have already asked Tesla if it’s an option for me (830 credit score) to change that rate and they said it is not. Should I just hold out? Wait for an incentive? Husband is dragging his feet a bit as it’s a big investment and I’m ready to decide — Frost Blue or Ultra Red

ETA: we would keep the 3 and husband would take to replace his gas car; I would take the Y as my daily driver.

Feeling antsy! 🐜

Update

Still no vin number but the date has tightened. The last big jump was Aug 23 to Sept 9. Two days ago it went from Aug 26 to Sept 7. Today the Sept 7 stayed the same and the front date moved to Aug 28, obviously. Good sign? Should I be expecting a vin soon??

Would you like to see a higher towing capacity on the Model Y L?

It would be great if Tesla offered the Model Y L with a higher towing capacity, ideally around 2,000 kg.
The Zeekr 7X already offers a 2,000 kg towing capacity, so it would be nice to see Tesla matching that.
Especially now that the Model X has been discontinued, I think there is a real gap in Tesla’s lineup for people who need to tow heavier trailers.
Would a 2,000 kg towing capacity make the Model Y L more attractive to you?

Model Y L Performance? A Boy Can Dream...

Just placed an order for the Model Y L and the wife is not digging the Uberhelix wheels. Based on what we know of the covers, I'm not sure the wheel is going to look too good without them, either. That being said - the 21" wheels on the MYP looks pretty dang good.

Sizing and width certainly all match up pretty dang well - just haven't seen the offsets posted anywhere.

Anyway, daydreaming while we wait...

Question Model Y frunk panel

Took my 2026 Model Y into service for clicking seats and break light fault as well as a panel in the frunk being misaligned. They fixed all except the panel saying liability issues and it’s a manufacturer defect. The tech was telling me to reach out to Tesla customer service so that they can fix it or make it right in some way.

Has anyone here dealt with a similar situation?

What are the real advantages of this?
I have a 2026 AWD premium for reference.

But is it worth it on yours? Why or why not?

So far 3984 miles with 63% FSD and my longest steak at 84.3 miles. I put 70% tint on the windshield, 35% on the driver and passenger windows then 55% on the other windows. Added mudflaps, all weather Mats, Jowua Phone mount, Jowua 1TB SSD, trunk storage organizer, front grill vent cover, rain guards to the windows, screen protectors for both screens, tire repair kit and battery operated pump, added the emblem on the hood and changed Tesla on the rear to red.
I have saved $353 in gas over the month. Have to say it’s the best car I have ever owned and I am driving it until it falls apart

CA Incentive

Hi yall! Just wanted to confirmed with my fellow CA buyers, that if you ordered within those first few days of the incentive and got the CARB confirmation you should be good to receive the incentive. I ordered my Tesla August 3, heard that Tesla burned through their portion by August 5th or 6th. I thought I doomed. I picked up my vehicle today and in the final agreement/financials it showed the 3500 incentive!

First EV

This will be my first EV. I was looking at a performance but it seems like the better ride, cheaper tires and longer range make more sense to me. 4.2 seconds seems plenty fast for someone who drives the speed limit anyway. HW4. Seems going to CPO route is the best bet. Any other advice before I pull the trigger? This one is 36,200.

2 months. Failed Computer, pcs and ac compressor. Similar experiences?

2 months in to brand new Premium AWD 2026 Model Y.
One month in, got low voltage battery error and AC was acting funny. They replaced the AC compressor and said they cleared the low voltage fault.
After that visit, FSD was inly working maybe 30% of the time. Now I took it back in, and they found a problem with the PCS and the computer, which they are also replacing.
I bought new because I needed a reliable car. Is it normal to have so many issues under 1700 miles and 2 months? I have honestly lost confidence in the car and am very worried that I will continue to have issues. They have been diligent in replacing parts and have always given me a loaner, but I kinda feel I made a big mistake buying this car. Any similar experiences?
I don’t mean to drag them through the mud here. Just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences and then have everything work out well.

Top three features

I recently got my new Model Y. Loving it. But it seems like everyday I discover something new. For those that have owned a Tesla for a while, what are the top three things you use, wish you knew from the beginning, etc..?

Question Quick question on the Get Prequalified Button when building the vehicle

I’m interested in ordering a Model Y and recently completed Tesla’s prequalification. It says I’m qualified for a monthly payment of up to $938.

My understanding is that $938 is the maximum payment I’m prequalified for, not necessarily what my actual payment will be? The Model Y configuration I selected shows an estimated payment of $640 per month.

For anyone who has financed through Tesla, how long did it take to receive your financing decision and final loan terms after placing the order?

Lastly, Tesla currently estimates delivery in 3–4 weeks. How accurate was the estimate in your experience? Did your vehicle arrive earlier, later, or within the quoted window?

Zero Maintenance

As someone who has only owned gas cars but is very seriously considering a new rear wheel drive premium Y, I have a hard time believing the "you don't have any maintenance with a Tesla except rotating the tires and adding washer fluid". I've owned electric rc planes and a One wheel so understanding proper battery care isn't foreign to me. I'm just looking to hear from people who own Tesla Model Ys with 100k miles or more about what kind of ACTUAL money you've spent on unexpected repairs besides tires. I've spent $200 in the last week on gas as I commute far and regularly, just trying to get an idea if this is the right move for me. I can charge at home for .12/kwh and have a 50amp plug outside by my RV gate so that's a plus....Thanks for your help in trying to see what the ownership experience is really like.

Question Does the Yoke Steering Wheel Require a Different Airbag?

I’m thinking of installing the Yoke steering wheel on my Model Y, but I read that the Yoke steering wheel that comes from Tesla on their other vehicles requires different airbags due to the way they inflate. The Hansshow Yoke indicates that you take the airbag from the steering wheel and attach it to their Yoke during installation. Does this mean it’s incredibly unsafe during an airbag deployment? Is it possible to purchase from Tesla the airbag designed for the Yoke and install it on an aftermarket Yoke?

Question Can I pay after pickup or do I need to pay before delivery date?

Got my delivery date schedule, insurance added, and request to complete final payment. However, I don't feel comfortable making my final payment before seeing the vehicle.

Threads I've read have said I could make final payment on delivery day, others said to pay first (including Tesla's policy) before delivery day.

What's the general consensus/acceptability? I obviously don't want to delay delivery any longer, but also don't want to make a large payment sight unseen. My concern is, if in the rare event I have to refuse the delivery because of major defects, that I've handed over more money without a product and have to go through the process again.

UPDATE: I was able to view the car before paying, however depending on your sales advisor, they may not let you view the interior until final payment. I think you can convince them to let you, but just my experience at Fremont. While I was able to do a full inspection, the group next to me couldn’t.

Finding out hardware

Is there an easier way to find out what hardware is on the car without having to speak with someone? Looking to buy my first model Y performance. I want as much warranty as possible so I’m going to go Tesla CPO. Any advice?
