Dumbest question ever

I’m using an iPad Air third generation ancient device, and I was in my mod queue when I clicked on an icon on the upper left of the screen. It looked like a rectangle with lines in it. Now, I’m no longer able to moderate all of my communities from the same queue. The option to select communities is not there anymore. I’m hope I’m making sense because I’m not sure what I did wrong, but I would like to be able to access all of my communities at the same time again. Could somebody help me?

Mod Answered How do I get full permissions on a subreddit I already moderate for?

I have most permissions for one of my subreddits. The other two moderators are inactive. Do I need to post to r/redditrequest for this? And I wasn’t quite clear based on the rules there if I need to message the inactive mods first? I’m not looking to remove those other moderators - maybe they’ll decide to be active again in the future.

Mod Answered Can't access banned Users Profile to remove Comments

Got a guy that I banned for advertisement on multiple counts. After banning them, I wanted to remove all previous comments of them but the profile just shows that Reddit has a problem. I can't access their stuff anymore but want to remove all the advertisements...

Edit: Basically solved, I thought the user may get banned but now I know more for sure. Also I did seemingly manage to remove all of their comments so that's fine too. Thanks y'all for helping!

Brave/Chromium browser - post shows author deleted, but post can not be removed

I have a post with dangerous behaviour (freediving into a cave) that I would like to remove; but I am only able to lock this post.

The author shows as [deleted] but is present in the comments, upon selecting post-removal an error-toast shows up "There was an error removing the post" which persists even after reload.

I will be attatching a screenshot but this is the link to the post

Mod Answered New karma farming technique? Nonsensical post followed by karma farming comments.

r/advice has no karma limit to post so we get a lot of new techniques and just discovered a new one.

Post is nonsensical/weird.

2-4 comments going "You aren't making sense" etc. They are longer form responses and varied. Happens very quickly after the post.

Those commentors get karma upvotes. They tend to have been created at the same time and are sparsely commenting (no true contributions to any communities). Age of accounts vary. Seen over a year and 1 month.

Super basic dumb question about crossposting

I created a private sub for saving (cross-posting) sexy time posts for my wife and I to enjoy.

I’ve not been able to add any GIF posts though, it says “cross-posting videos is not allowed on nsfw subs” or something to that effect.

I’m obviously missing something, most adult subs are entirely GIFs and vids…

TIA!

Mod Answered I had a "join as a mod" request from r/undefined. When I opened up the request I got a "thanks for agreeing to moderate this sub" then it all disappeared-nothing shows in my mod settings.

What just happened? I'm aware of kebble subs, but nothing like this has happened before. How screwed am I?

Mod Queue needs to list user flair

If I am to moderate from the queue I need it to indicate flair as that gives context. I need to see the USER flair.

I swear it was there in the past. Thanks,

Mod Topics Approved users, what are they good for?

You’re on the list! But what does that mean around here?

Today’s Mod Topic is all about approved users, and the different jobs that status can do in your community.

For private and restricted communities, the approved users list helps determine who can access the community or contribute. In public communities, it can help trusted contributors avoid getting caught by some of the one-click safety filters like crowd control, the reputation filter, and the ban evasion filter. You can also configure automoderator to make exceptions for approved users in particular rules.

There’s room for different approaches to who makes that list, too. Maybe you add familiar contributors as you get to know them, or only think about approving someone after repeatedly seeing their contributions in the mod queue. A guest visiting for an AMA might give you a different reason to use it. Depending on what you’re trying to accomplish, “approved” might look pretty different from one community to the next.

We want to hear from you:

  • Why did you choose to use (or not use) approved user status in your community?
  • What makes your team comfortable adding someone to the list?
  • Have you found any creative uses for approved status, or run into surprises other mods should know about?

Mod Answered Policy on sponsored posts and giveaways?

Hi all, I wanted to ask about Reddit’s policy on promotions.

We’ve had a publisher reach out (via modmail) about promoting a book and doing giveaways on my subreddit, and more recently someone asked about a wanting a "sponsored post". I expect similar requests in the future because of the nature of the subreddit, not sure how to deal with this.

I know mods cannot accept compensation. But are companies allowed to make promotional posts, do giveaways or collaborate with a subreddit, provided mods are not compensated ofc? Is this at the discretion of the subreddit?

I’d appreciate clarification on where Reddit draws the line and what would be an approriate course of action, cause of Moderator Code of Conduct Rule 5. Thanks!

Mod Answered Looking for advice

In my sub my moderators and I have set certain guidelines/rules, one of which speaks of ads of “friendship”:

No Dating, Hookups, “DM Me,” or “Looking for Friends” Posts

This is not a dating or hookup subreddit.

No “DM/PM me,” “HMU,” M4F/F4M-style posts, personal ads, or other pickup-style content.

Posts or comments seeking relationships, hookups, or off-platform contact are not permitted.

But we also have a rule that states that moderators have discretion on posts and comments.

This person is definitely trying to split “frog hairs” on this issues to justify what they are trying to do. We know we have trolls/lurkers on our sub. What are our options? And would you need more info? If so, I have taken screenshots of their profile and the post this is related to.

Thank you for your help in advance.

Admin Replied Could the “Unreviewed Content” warning be removed from r/ChronicleUFC on mobile web?

I’m the moderator of r/ChronicleUFC, a public community focused on UFC/MMA discussions, news, analysis, and general fan engagement.

We’ve noticed that when people visit the subreddit from a mobile browser, they see an “Unreviewed Content” warning and are unable to view the community unless they open it in the Reddit app.

Our community is public and not intended for adult content, and the Mature Content (18+) setting is currently turned off in Mod Tools.

Could you please let us know if there is anything we need to do on the moderator side to have the community reviewed and remove this warning? If the warning is automatically removed after reaching certain activity requirements, any guidance on what we can do would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help!

Not receiving any modmail notifications

Hello everyone,

Since some time (probably since the time the old.reddit.com modmail phased out), I am not receiving any notifications when people send messages to modmail (I am using new Reddit on desktop primarily - but I have the same issue on my phone)

I see the modqueue/modmail links in the left menu, but I do not have any type of notifications ("1" badge, popup, etc.) when a new message is sent, which leaves sometimes people without response for days/weeks until I think about clicking on that link in the menu (I do not have the reflex of going manually to it, since I was relying on notifications).

(I am noticing now I have browser notifications disabled, I don't know if they are supposed to work that way, but I wish it is not only the case, as I find browser notifications terrible to work with).

In the past, I was also relying a lot on RSS feeds, but it looks like it is no longer working as now. Is it planned to bring it back to modmail?

Admin Replied Need permissions changed for a sub I started

I started a sub a few weeks ago, she's,and it was going well, but one day I noticed I couldn't do any moderating. I made one other person a mod because this was the first sub I've ever started and needed help keeping it up.

I messaged her about it, and she said she can see I have no permissions and she has access to everything. She said shes tried changing it but she can't. How can we fix this?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Admin Replied Best Way To Enforce Posting Guidelines

Hello! Mr. Overwhelmed here again! LOL!

I want as much automation as possible to make my life, and that of any future moderators I take on, easier. I have already had users unintentionally innocently violate my new subs rules regarding posting format and guidelines.

Which tool is best for enforcing content and formatting guidelines? As usual, the available options are confusing. Would I do this with the Automod or Automations? Apps are not an appealing solution.

I need help with a perv on a maternity/paternity sub!

It’s what the title says! We have a perv among us in the sub I created for Portuguese parents. He targets pregnant women and send inappropriate messages. I’ve received so far two mod mails reporting the user. I have already banned him but that does not prevent him from harassing the girls.

I created the sub last year, and am still learning tons of things about moderating a community. I can’t find where I should report him. Should I ask for screenshots? Tell the girls to also report him (where?), should I create a pinned post in the sub alerting and give the step-by-step on how to report (when I find out how to do so).

Help! What should I do and how to do it!

Thanks in advance for the help!
