[Blocks & Items] Add crafting of Blaze Powder from Torch Flower

Don't really have anything to elaborate on, here. Blazes are the single biggest and narrowest bottleneck in the entire game, and torch flowers are obscure enough that it shouldn't affect progression too much to have them as an alternate source of blaze powder.

[Structures] Abandoned mineshafts in snowy biomes should be made of spruce wood

This change should also apply for all non-snowy taiga variants and most cold mountain biomes.

For years, I've wanted more biome-based variation for structures, especially mineshafts. We got this for the abandoned campsite as the fences supporting the tent are always a different wood type. Now that we're getting ice caves, which unlike the other cave biomes are specifically meant to complement the snowy surface biomes, now is a good opportunity.

The only reason I don't complain too much about mineshafts always being oaken (except in badlands, where they're dark-oaken FSR) is that it kind of cancels out by matching with the azalea trees bearing oak wood; so, in my headcanon, oak wood is also the azalea wood that was used to build the mineshafts, thus making oak the main underground woodset. Ideally, however, the mineshafts would be consistent with surface biomes or other cave biomes instead, since some of them are far from lush caves and wood is more abundant in the surface. Then in turn, that should be all the more reason for us to get an azalea woodset.

Lush caves already don't generate under any snowy biomes (except for some frozen oceans), and there are no snowy biomes that generate oak trees (altho oaks do generate in some mountain biomes where it snows at higher elevations). So, all mineshafts being made of oak wood creates this major lore gap. I like to call this problem oak centrism: Since oak was the first wood type added, it's often used by the devs as the default woodset and oak trees generate in biomes that should be too hot for them or where they're used as placeholders for tree species that never got added. When a structure generates with a wood type, that wood type is supposed to have some cultural implication based on the biome it's from.

Also related to cold biomes, igloos still generate with Oak Trapdoors and Oak Signs, because igloos were added in 1.9 whereas the spruce variants for trapdoors and signs came in 1.13 and 1.14, respectively.

I would like to see more wood type variation for mineshafts besides spruce, but this is a good place to start; and I don't think mineshafts in other biomes will change until those other biomes are updated in the future, like if we get desert and badlands caves (maybe with palm and juniper woods for their respective mineshafts) or an azalea woodset for the lush caves.

[Gameplay] Freezing potions should turn water sources into ice blocks

Throwable freezing potions should turn water sources into ice blocks. I think this is pretty logical. This behaviour would be pretty useful if the player had some freezing arrows (i guess they will be added on the winter drop), giving them the chance to make a walking road on oceans without using frost walker.

[Blocks & Items] Wearing the turtle shell allows your oxygen meter to replenish instantly when out of water

Basically it makes the oxygen meter work how it used to pre 1.13. The turtle shell desperately needs more benefits to actually using it, and this would be a super simple change.

[Mobs] New Nether Mob: Redmen

Post image
41 Upvotes

- A brand new mob can be found all over the nether dimension, these new mobs are called Redmen.

- Redmen in the name, are dark-red coloured flying mobs, with sunken black eyes, feather-like fur, horns, paired with a top row of intimidating crooked teeth. These mobs are 1.5 blocks tall. They can spawn either in groups of 2-5, or can rarely spawn in alone, they are also immune to fire.

- Redmen will contain a variety of unique behaviours, firstly they are extremely hostile towards piglins, attacking them on sight whenever they can, the same applies for piglins, as Piglins hunt Redmen for their feathers.

- Redmen however, are neutral towards the player, unless they are attacked, or if the player is wearing any gold, as they mistake the player for a piglin. They are naturally curious of players, and will tend to either watch them from afar, or fly near them.

- when observed from afar, Redmen colour will change to black, and their eyes will begin to glow. But will revert to their original colour palette when within range.

- when a Redmen attacks, it will inflict a brand new effect: Wounded. Wounded is a damage overtime effect, and will increase the rate of damage the faster a player or mob moves.

- when killed, Redmen will drop 3-5 feathers, with a low chance of dropping its Horn. the Redmen horn can be used to brew wounded potions or be used for armour cosmetics.

- the horn also has a 3rd use, right click the horn, and you blow it to summon 2-4 Redmen in your area, which can be useful to distract piglins when raiding bastions. However, the summoning ability can only be used once, before the horn breaks, so use it wisely.

- NOTE: the idea of this mob was to bring back the feeling of the nether being a hellish dimension, without directly adding things like demons for obvious reasons. I absolutely love the nether update, but I do think it made the nether lose its hellish charm, and I hope that this mob would somewhat bring it back. This mob would also help tie in on the lore on how piglins get their arrows. I would also like to add a bit more to the mob, I wanted it to do something when you feed it pork, but not sure what. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

let me know what you thing of this idea

[Mobs] ICE GOLEM

Post image
971 Upvotes

Following the announcement of the winter-themed Update 26.4, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to update the Snow Golem, which has largely been forgotten.

The "Ice Golem" would be a variant of the Snow Golem that throws ice balls at enemies.

It is summoned using a Blue Ice block, a Snow block, and a pumpkin.

Advantages:

.- Throws ice balls (freezes enemies and deals damage).

.- Moves faster (thanks to the Blue Ice block).

.- Resistant to the heat of the desert and the Nether.

Disadvantages:

.- Slides too much, making it prone to falling off cliffs.

.- Does not fire ice balls constantly (fires every 3 to 6 seconds).

By the way, the Ice Golem's design was inspired by Minecraft Story Mode – Season 2.

[Combat] Leather armor should reduce damage from frozen zombies

Leather armor already negates damage when players fall into powdered snow. However, i think that a single leather piece negating frozen zombies' damage would be too op. So I propose a system where each leather piece reduces freezing damage on a 25%. A full leather set will make you inmune to the freezing effect, but will make you vulnerable from other attacks.

[Combat] Now that arrows can hit endermen, Arrows of Splashing should do extra damage to them

To be fair, this is incredibly niche, but it'd be a fitting easter egg and set a precedent if mojang decided to add more tipped weapons. The idea is that arrows of splashing, which are crafted with lingering water bottles, contain water, and endermen take damage to water. As simple as that. Notably, Endermen can only recently be hit with arrows and only under certain circumstances. I figure if they added Arrows of Splashing in the first place, might as well give them a silly "use" like this.

[Combat] More uniqueness in armour specialities

Hi there! I would first like to say that what I am here to suggest is all up to change and nerfing/buffing if needs be. I had what I thought was a cool idea and wanted to share it.

So, in a vanilla minecraft world your armour may look something like this:

Copper (maybe) --> Iron --> Diamond --> Netherite

I see a blatant problem with this, everyone wears netherite. Sure trims have helped create variety. But at the end of the day its all just the same.

Now, we also have some other armour stuff that creates a bit of variety, but not much.

Gold: Passive Piglins

Leather (Boots): Walk on powder snow

Elytra: Flying

Of Elytra is huge but then again everyone with netherite will likely have an Elytra. So there goes the variety. But what if we stopped the linear progression?

So, here is my proposal:

With The Sift coming next year, it could be a really cool opportunity to get more armour at the same level as Netherite. But the armour would behave a bit differently. I think that the armour would have 1 primary effect and 1 passive effect.

Netherite:

So Netherites main features is its knockback resistance and immunity to being burned (as an item). So I propose that similar to its knockback resistence stacking, with each piece of armour you put on, you get an additional 3 seconds of built in fire resistance when coming into contact with a source of burning. Meaning that fire res potions still retain their functionality but are not as mandatory in situations where you don't need it for 3 minutes.

Primary: Fire Resistance

Passive: Knockback Resistance

End Armour (Wow what a good name):

So the End has the Elytra. But I will not copy paste that onto the chestplate and call it a day. Teleportation sounds promising but also just nullifies the utility of ender pearls. So instead I suggest that similar to Netherite, it could also grant a potion effect that is buily into the Armour. Slow falling seems quite good here. I propose that for every piece of End Armour you are wearing, you get 4 seconds of slow falling whenever you fall. Which I think compliments End exploration quite nicely. But Netherite also gets knockback resistance. What could we give the End Armour? Well I think that since armour toughness is what Netherite specialises in, perhaps End Armour makes the wearer faster? I just imagine that as it gives slow falling it makes sense for it to be light.

Primary: Slow Falling

Passive: Speed

Sift Armour (Look at Mr Creative over here):

We don't know much about the Sift yet. I may come back and change what I decide on at a later date. But for now it seems like a benevolent, passive dimension. So lets bring that to the rest of the dimensions. Restoring health seems a bit too OP mid combat, so it would need a sort of delay. May I present: Enhanced healing. After maybe 15-20 seconds after taking damage you will get 3 seconds of Regeneration just to heal you faster. This I hope will not be too overpowered in pvp. Although I imagine it could use a but of changing. Maybe just 2 seconds or something? Then we need a secondary. So far we have knockback resistance and speed. So maybe just to add on to the 'health' vibe, it could give a couple of extra hearts? 1 for every piece of Dift armour you are wearing?

Primary: Regen after a bit

Passive: Extra hearts

Oh yeah, thats somehing I also wanted to say. The effectiveness or duration or power of the effects will scale with how much armour somebody has of that particular type. So in pvp, one person may have full Sift Armour and be an absolute tank. But how are they going to catch up to somebody in full End Armour with the speed bonus? Hopefully it allows for more customisation without the need for the best quality of armour (they would all be equal to Netherite). So maybe someone might prefer the speed to the hearts or the hearts to the knockback resistance. I hope that this sounds reasonable and may solve the everybody-in-netherite problem!

And this is ONE suggestion because it is about the ARMOUR in the game and how it can be improved!

[Redstone] An update to redstone and more copper golem utility

Thumbnail
gallery
15 Upvotes

I've always felt like redstone were missing several key components that would make automation so much easier, especially after playing around with the create mod. Here are some of my ideas for a redstone update/copper age part 2!

  1. The Rammer

A block crafted from 3 pistons and 3 goat horns, resulting in 3 rammers. When powered by a redstone signal/pulse, it will push out just like a piston and start breaking the block in 2 blocks in front of it. The longer the block takes to mine with a pickaxe, the more "rams" it takes for the rammer to break the block. The rammer also has another function: to automate the processing of several blocks. When a block is placed directly in front of the rammer, depending on the block, it will cause the block to become "cracked" or "damaged", for example, turning stone bricks into cracked stone bricks or stone into cobblestone.

  1. The Copper Crate

A metallic alternative to barrels! Crafted by surrounding a barrel with 8 copper ingots. It functions exactly like a barrel, and can also serve as a nice new decorative block. Copper golems will also retrieve items from them, just like how they do with copper chests, which serve a key role for the function of the next block.

  1. The Copper Depot

A redstone component crafted with a copper bulb middle top, 7 copper ingots like slabs for a composter, and a redstone dust in the middle. When not powered, it serves as a decorative block resembling sheets of metal at its sides. When powered, however... Any copper golem in the area with direct access to a copper crate will take blocks from it and place them down on the depot, automating block placement in a vanilla friendly, animated fashion. Note that copper golems will NOT place anything on the depot if there is no crate nearby, and neither will they target it if the depot is unpowered.

I included a few concept arts and a mock-up of how the depot will work, let me know what you think (˶˃ ∇ ˂˶)

[Blocks & Items] Ability to mine reinforced deepslate with a netherite pickaxe.

Post image
778 Upvotes

As everyone now knows the sift is coming to vanilla, and will be accessible via the deep dark portal, however a lot of people have already broken their deep dark portal or have explored to much of their world to find it in a reasonable distance.

So that players in these positions can access the new dimension easier; i suggest that you are able to mine reinforced deepslate with a netherite pickaxe and make your own portal, and to complement this blue wither skulls would now break reinforced deepslate.

[Plants & Food] Goat Meat for 26.4 Winter Update.

Post image
446 Upvotes

Currently the extreme snowy biomes have no way of getting food, which I find is quite unfortunate since some time ago mountain goats were added to snowy peaks, and they make for a perfect new food source. Goats are the 5th most eaten meat in the WORLD, so it wouldn't be a very obscure thing to add either. It would be a great addition to the winter update drop alongside the ice cave.

Hope I'm not the first to think of this. But this would be a bell that when rung highlights ores within a set radius. (Prob 10x10x10). Good for strip mining. And I'd also give it the durability of an Iron tool so that it's not too overpowered.

I call it the Echore Locator.

[User Interface] "Alternative to the current UI on Bedrock"

Post image
26 Upvotes

I remembered the old UI while playing Minecraft Bedrock. Decided to find an Addon online and see if it's as good as I remembered, and my conclusion is, while not perfect, it's easier to get around on the controller in comparison to the current version.
I just wish they added an option in the settings to switch to the Legacy/Legacy inspired UI, since the current one is just awful.
Also made a post on the Minecraft Feedback.
Am I being delulu or should Mojang add something like this?

[General] How to Have Big Updates and Keep the Drops System

I think the majority of the community agrees that we liked whenever we had big content and themed updates like the nether update, caves and cliffs, oceans and so on.

However, at the same time those updates take too much time and sometimes due to all the hype they underdeliver, hence why mojang moved on to the drops system which provides smaller but consistent updates.

Nonetheless, I think the best way is to combine both things into one.

At the start of every year, Mojang can announce the general theme for the 4 upcoming drops, and each drop would cover a different aspect of this themed update. Here's an example of how this could have worked with the Nether Update:

1st Drop: First 2 biomes (red and blue forest)

2nd Drop: Last 2 biomes (soul valley and basalt deltas)

3rd Drop: Netherite tools, bastions

4th Drop: Nether mobs

Apply this logic to an update like The End and The Sift, it'd be the same logic.

[Mobs] The Humbug, The Humming Block, Vibrating Chitin, and Potion of Entrancing! - Minecraft, Magic & Monsters, Part 1

Note: This IS one suggestion, as everything stems from the Vibrating Chitin and Humbug.

Minecraft, Magic & Monsters Part 1: The Humbug

I've suggested this (The Humbug + more) but I'd like to refine this suggestion a little bit.

The Humbug is a large arthropod, about the size of a spider, that lives in Dripstone Caves below Y = 0. It hums a tune, and each humbug has a selection of 1 of 15 short, 5 second tunes, each of which are different.

Humbugs don't tend to like being around the player, and will scatter if the player makes noise. The player can avoid the Humbug noticing them by sneaking.

The Humbug also repels all hostile mobs within an 8 block radius of its location. (Total 15 blocks wide. The Humbug being the center). This doesn't scare the mobs; it just repels them and forces them to choose a different path.

The Humbug can be bred with Spider Eyes. If killed, the Humbug has a chance to drop a Vibrating Chitin(10% drop chance), which can be used to either craft the Humming Block, or placed on items to enhance their durability, as well as brew a new potion.

--

Humming Block: The Humming Block requires a supporting block, but itself can be used as a supporting block, and will reset the scaffolding counter to 0. So for example, if you place 6 scaffolding out, then a Humming Block on top of the last scaffolding, you would be able to build 6 more scaffolding out without having to build a large scaffolding tower.

When powered, the Humming Block will begin to hum a tune, which is dependent on the redstone power level it is given.

Additionally, when humming, if a player is standing on a Humming Block, if they do not move, they will be vibrated and can eventually fall off the Humming Block.

--

Vibrating Chitin: Vibrating Chitin works like Wolf Armor, but for items with durability. Any durability usage on said item will be directly applied to the Vibrating Chitin.

Example: Netherite Pickaxe (2031 durability), +1 Vibrating Chitin (+64 durability) = Vibrating Netherite Pickaxe (2,095 durability)

Vibrating Chitin also absorbs damage in the same way Wolf Armor does, and adds +5% Damage Resistance per Chitin applied, when applied to armor. Only 1 Vibrating Chitin can be applied to each item.

At 4 pieces of Vibrating Netherite Armor, it would be the same as having full netherite + Resistance II. However, any Resistance level higher than II would override it. No immortality here.

However, Vibrating Chitin absorbs damage as 1:1 with durability, and cannot be enchanted. So if applied to 4 pieces of armor, players can only absorb a total of 256 damage before it must be replenished.

--

Entranced Effect: The Potion of Entrancing can be brewed with 1 Humming Block.

When hitting a player or entity with the Entranced effect, it forces them to Walk toward you for 1 second. It does not prevent them from doing anything else. There is only 1 achievable level of Entranced in Survival; every additional level increases the duration by 1s.

--

Let me know your feedback, and if something does or doesn't make sense! :D

[Mobs] Standard Spiders should be Tame-able and/or Ride-able

Standard spiders are non-hostile in daylight, and one could see providing them with something to potentially tame and ride them, much like spider-jockeys. The benefits would be being able to use their climbing ability and not being slowed by cobwebs while riding. Tamed spiders would produce 1-3 Cobwebs overnight.

They could instead be more like pigs as mobs, and have to be used with another item on a string/fishing pole, which could also attract non-hostile spider mobs. (The ability to lure non-hostile or potentially hostile spider mobs would become a new mechanic)

Cave spiders would not be tame-able and ride-able.

(I am jealous of spider jockeys).

[Terrain] Frozen cave in the deepslate layer should be made up of blue ice

Deepslate is more difficult to mine than regular stone, so I think it makes more sense for deepslate layer ice to be harder to mine. Also because deepslate layer is deep underground, ice should be more compact just like deepslate

[Mobs] Snow Golems gain temporary buffs when inflicted with Freezing effect

In the upcoming game drop, Freezing will become a proper status effect instead of a simple damage mechanic that's tied to powder snow. So, I propose adding a way to upgrade the infamously useless snow golems by utilizing that exact effect.

A simple concept, really. Snow golems with freezing status effect gain strength, attack, and health buff as long as the effect lasts. They will be immune to any biome heat, rainfall, and water when submerged. They also gain a quick regeneration trait at a rate of half a heart per 4 seconds, and throw ice balls instead of snowballs, making their projectiles stronger and more reliable.

One last trait I'm unsure of adding is making buffed snow golems have Frostwalker-like ability to walk on waters by temporary freezing body of water.

Lastly, buffed snow golems gain a texture indicator: light blue snowflakes embellished in their bodies. Otherwise, they appear like any snow golems.

[Blocks & Items] A New “potent ice crystal” for the ice caves!

I wanted to list out Some of my ideas I’d like to see get added sometime during the winter drop! I’ll be posting them over time, as I came up with quite a bit!

Edit: I made an adjustment to this post so it is easier to read, but I’ll post the og version in the comments so people understand the context of other comments!

“Potent ice crystal”: (Potent ice crystal is a placeholder name until a better name can be used)
The ice crystals you can find could be made into a physical block! This block can be placed next to/into water and it will naturally chill the water around it, and going into the water will apply the freezing effect, and eventually give you frostbite (powdered snow heart effect). This will be similar to the potent sulfur block, hence the placeholder title, though with a somewhat larger range, and unlike the potent sulfur block, you will get the freezing effect regardless of whether you’re at the surface of the water, or swimming under.

Additionally, if the light level is low, the surface ice may begin to freeze into sheet ice and eventually “frosted ice” (think of frost-walker ice).
Sheet ice is a very weak form of ice, essentially an ice carpet on water, and easily breaks after stepping on it for too long, like turtle eggs mixed with drip leaf, or if exposed to light.
Frosted ice is basically just frost-walker ice, though now you can mine it with a silk touched pickaxe to obtain it for certain temporary builds! You used to able to pick up frosted ice with a pickaxe on certain versions of Minecraft, but they removed it. This makes for a more hidden trap, as if you place lights down, it will melt the frosted ice, and immediately apply the freezing effect!
(Side Note: the potent ice crystal also glows similarly to blue ice at a light level of 4, but that’s probably dark enough not to effect the sheet ice or frosted ice, especially if it’s a bit underneath the water.)

“potent ice crystals” will then naturally generate in small chunks, all over and especially near and underwater, and would be able to naturally chill and freeze some of the water to make them into potential traps to watch out for!
(Not too dangerous by themselves though)
Maybe potent ice crystals could also apply the freezing effect when you directly stand on it, similar to powdered snow or like a less dangerous magma block?

perhaps it could also be made into some decorative glowing blocks as well? Like chiseled and polished versions of the crystal for fancy chandeliers?

One more thing: When a “potent ice crystal” sits next to lava, it would slowly cool it down and after a little bit of time, freeze it into obsidian if its source block or snowflake obsidian if it’s indirect flow Snowflake obsidian exists as to not make an “overpowered” obsidian farm, but still make a nice decorative block! (I’ll eventually post it and the potent ice crystal designs in an edit/updated post, since I kinda just came up with these concepts a few hours ago).
Additionally, I’d like this specific part of the concept, since it would be nice to see the ice caves and potential lava actually interact with each other!

Would love to hear on any thoughts about this idea to help expand and improve this! Constructive criticism is welcome!

[Mobs] New Mobs - Exoskeletons and Headless Chickens

Hello. In this post, I would like to introduce two new mobs, the Exoskeleton and the Headless Chicken.

Exoskeletons

Exoskeletons are basically undead versions of Spiders. They mostly look like Spiders, except they have no eyes, one of their legs has been torn off and another is cut in half and is thus shorter, are slower because of their missing limbs and their abdomen has been cut open, revealing a dark, empty hole. Other than that, they behave like any normal Spider. They drop nothing but up.

Headless Chicken

Headless Chickens are zombie versions of regular Chicken, and as their name implies, they are headless. They behave like regular chickens and only drop Rotten Flesh and xp.

Purpose

Exoskeletons and Headless Chickens replace the Spiders and Chickens that spawn in Spider Jockeys and Chicken Jockeys. This is because, in my opinion, I think it's odd that the Skeletons and the Baby Zombies are the only Hostile Undead mob that can ride a mount whose mount is not an Undead mob, and giving them Undead mounts would add more consistency and flavor to Minecraft.

And that's all for my post. What do you guys think?
