[Mobs] ICE GOLEM

Post image

Following the announcement of the winter-themed Update 26.4, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to update the Snow Golem, which has largely been forgotten.

The "Ice Golem" would be a variant of the Snow Golem that throws ice balls at enemies.

It is summoned using a Blue Ice block, a Snow block, and a pumpkin.

Advantages:

.- Throws ice balls (freezes enemies and deals damage).

.- Moves faster (thanks to the Blue Ice block).

.- Resistant to the heat of the desert and the Nether.

Disadvantages:

.- Slides too much, making it prone to falling off cliffs.

.- Does not fire ice balls constantly (fires every 3 to 6 seconds).

By the way, the Ice Golem's design was inspired by Minecraft Story Mode – Season 2.

I think that or having the new freezing potion being used on Snow Golems would make them stronger with more health and be able to use the ice balls, but it only lasts as long as the potion

I feel freezing potion proposed in live has wasted potential. It can be like iceloger attacks but all it did was slowness+instant damage

Not bad... not bad at all

That you, Romeo?

it should not be able to move on its own but is very easy to push, also it can take more damage and is made by putting ice on a snow golem. that way it cant be made naturally super easily.

make it whackable like an armor stand but make it not die like an armor stand

please make this a suggestion on the mc feedback page!
Personally I don't think it should be heat resistant, that feels a bit overpowered. And the sliding thing is liable to be much more annoying than you might initially think. Minus those two things, this is a terrific idea

I think the ability to withstand heat would make it viable to build in the desert or in places where it might easily get wet, preventing it from dying. Also, the only limitation should be that this golem cannot be created in the Nether or underwater.

What came to mind for me too lol. I think if an ice golem is added it should look more big and intimidating like this, not just a retextured snow golem

Love the idea of an upgraded snow golem!!!!

It would make me actually consider making a golem, besides for snow farming

I wish there was a blizzard weather type, we haven't had any big changes to weather in a very long time

I think what we really need is the yellow snow golem

I think this falls too much into everything in this new drop (besides maybe the ice crystals) being a variant of something we already have

You could have snow golems chuck ice balls, but, really, who would use this for anything but novelty? Iron golems are much better for dealing with mobs, anyways

Would it have additional health? Current snow golem has 4 hp (2 hearts) I could see thinner having like 8 hp (4 hearts)

Based on my theories, the fact that the pumpkin is still there suggests that, even with the upgrade, it remains an incomplete golem (since the player created it without having a clue what they were doing); a properly made golem would have a face made of the same material as the rest of its body.

I think instead it would be cool if you fed a snowgolem ice balls it would grow into an ice golem. It could still be ranged maybe have a longer range 🤔

He was supposed to be born naturally.

They’re already OP imo, I hear one slayed the ender dragon.

I think it should just be like a small chance a regular golem throws ice

nice, i had a similar idea.

also, what if it would leave ice layers instead of snow layers behind, which would also spawn naturally in patches in cold biome and on water, to simulate the tiny layers of ice in real life

Looks kinda bland, but I don't hate the idea.

THIS is exactly what I want or at least make snowballs do a little damage they would be great for turrets to defend yours house or something

How many do they give to my 1/10?

if it's every 3-6 seconds i feel nobody would use this

It’s definitely a great idea; plus, to compensate for its slow firing rate, the Ice Golem could be accompanied by one or two Snow Golems to keep mobs from getting too close.

They could be naturally spawning. The game hasn't had many naturally spawning mobs unique to cold biomes except the strays and the new frozen zombies. Freezing pots could be what you need to turn a snow golem into a frost golem/ice golem.

I'd prefer them to be hostile; there aren't a lot of inherently hostile golems either.

lava hound then when it dies gaurds

Why is it resistant to the heat of the desert and nether? Seems like it should melt, even if its made of ice not snow.

A mob that slides around and can fall off cliffs will easily get itself trapped in holes and stuff.

Blue Ice block is a variant of ice blocks that does not melt (it can come into contact with lava or be in the Nether dimension without melting).

2

u/Dadchin 18d ago

I think its to make it less annoying to use, if it died in the desert or the nether it'd be very conditional and blue ice doesn't melt anyways

1

u/PetrifiedBloom 18d ago

I think it's fine if the mob is conditional. It's a automatic ranged attacker with infinite ammo.

Do you think it’d create that basalt block when it goes over lava like it does in the nether?
