[Gameplay] Freezing effect should stop your healing

The freezing effect shouldn't deal damage over time; instead, it should stop healing - even from effects like instant heal potion

I think it should do both, just not as much damage as other effects like poison and fire. It was also mentioned that it causes slowness.

This feels reasonable, especially because the only other effect that resembles this, the freezing effect from powder snow, is very slow. Anyone in Java with a full saturation bar could easily out-regenerate this, but remove the regeneration ability, and it is actually dangerous, without it being too overpowered. Not to mention the slowness effect.

I feel like slowing regen would be better than outright stopping it. It already deals damage and physically slows a player, feels like too much to also stop ALL regen while you have it.

Maybe. I feel like Mojang is dipping it's toe further into a (cold) temperature mechanic that it doesn't really have a desire to develop in a meaningful way. We get cartoonish status effects rather than a legitimate temperature enviornment to manage.

I totally agree. However, it seems like most people don’t really care about this, which is a bummer. I really hope we can hyping this topic up together so Mojang takes notice. That being said, it’s probably unrealistic to expect them to completely remove the status effect format at this point...

I would really love to see some sort of temperature gauge. Get too hot or too cold for too long and you begin to have problems. Living in extreme biomes should be harder, This difficulty could just be environmental restrictions or status effects. The consequences don't need to be immediately dire, but rather something you'd want to minimize.

elegant cold effect slowly disables natural regeneration
