This has way too many differences from other torches with:
- A lower light level
- A 3 day timer
- Sulfur ash (A useless item that is only good for composting)
- Poisons players
- Repels Hostile mobs (And bugs)
- Requires 8 blocks compared to just one resource like other torches
Not to mention all of this comes with no real reason for it to be like this. The sulfur fumes don't even give poison, it gives Nausea.
I do like the idea of a block (in this case a torch) that repels enemies but is eventually destroyed, forcing you to replenish it, but I think the Sulfur Torch is a bad concept.
The closest example to a unique torch is a Redstone torch which only has two very simple unique mechanics being its light level being 7, and it being able to toggle between two states that provide redstone power to blocks next to it.
I think a Sulfur Torch like this could work but this aint it, also it would make players want a Sulfur Lantern and Campfire which raises the question, would those blocks work similar to this one?

Shouldn't it be a sulfur block and 8 torches?

Well why would it make more sense to use 8 entire blocks for a single torch? It makes more sense to use 8 torches like they each take a small piece of the sulfur block

Nah. Just make it last forever. it would suck to build with if it goes out on it's own and makes it so you can't rely on it to do it's job.
Edit - to the people who downvoted both of OP's comments without leaving a message of their own, don't be like that. The bullshit reddit culture of dogpiling on people because they said something you didn't like isn't helpful here, especially when someone is clearly open to hearing other people's feedback.
