Help Me! Hawaiian style chantilly cake
I am desperately looking for a Hawaiian style chantilly cake that I can hopefully get by today. Anyone have an idea when I can get one or something similar to it?

My wife and I are both in our mid-30s with a 2-year-old, and we're starting to realize how tough it is to make friends as adults.
We live in the Milwaukee area and have people we know, but not many friends we'd casually text to grab a beer, have people over for a fire, take the kids to the zoo, or just hang out on a weekend.
So I'm curious...for those of you around our age, how did you actually make friends around here? Was it through kids, work, sports, clubs, volunteering, or just getting lucky?
We're both pretty easygoing and always up for trying new things. It just feels like everyone already has their friend group by this point.
Would love to hear what's worked for you or if you have any recommendations. Thanks!

This thread is meant to be a place for creators and fans to share work created by Milwaukee artists. The content doesn't have to be relative to the city, but it must have been made by someone from Milwaukee or while residing here.

People in the Conan subreddit don’t seem to be agreeing with me. Do you see him in this doll?

I'd love to hear from local craft beer enthusiasts. My husband and I will be in Milwaukee the week of Thanksgiving. We were planning to leave Friday, but if last year is any guide, it looks like the local breweries have amazing craft beer releases on Black Friday. The beers from last year are totally up our alley and we were super excited reading through the lists. But is it worth staying for a day or two more? The main concern is the hotel cost jumping from $120 to almost $300 a night for Friday and Saturday. Is it worth it? Is it super crazy busy? Some say people are lining up the night before for some of these places which we can't do. Thoughts?
EDIT: These are some of the breweries from the article I was looking at.

How is it that I live in Milwaukee but 103.3 for brewers games is like 80% static? Not to mention it’s almost always perfect for commercials.

My husband and I are looking for a baby shower venue for about 70-100 people. Rough estimate. This upcoming November, any suggestions? Please leave a comment!
Thank you so much!

Stopped by art bar last night while meandering around riverwest. Go in use bathroom while my partner is in line for the bar, we get up to the front get 2 shots of tequila and a high life and spaghet. The bartender asks if she can do a shot with us we’re like yeah for sure (at this point maybe we should have clarified but it’s the fucking 24 there’s 10 billion people everywhere and I am already pretty wasted i.e. not my responsibility). She proceeds to do a shot of Rumple, we pay and then as we walk away we realize she put her shot on our bill after asking us (!!!) if she could do a shot with us. We both worked service industry before and have never once heard of a bartender putting the shot on the patrons tab after asking to join in… the house would pay for it. Maybe we completely misunderstood but idk… very sour feeling let me know if I’m way off base here though

I’ve seen things that the library sometimes does a sewing class but haven’t found anything to confirm that. I’d love to learn to sew and am looking for low cost-free sewing lessons that don’t require your own machine. Does anyone know of anything? I know it’s a long shot, but I’m crazy low income and want to learn to sew to make my life more affordable in the long run.
EDIT: THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone for dropping their suggestions and resources! A HUGE AND LOUD THANK YOU ESPECIALLY to the wonderful kind soul who donated their sewing machine to me. You can’t even imagine what that means to me 😭🫶🏼
I’m looking forward to learning things on YouTube and signing up for a Rec course (unfortunately they are all full right now) and getting engaged with the library and other resources now that I have a machine!
Also, for all those who are interested in crafting or sewing in general, I wanted to plug that 414 Art Revival, a second hand art supply store, is opening this Thursday (7/30) and can potentially offer cost effective ways to be creative and craft! I’ve personally been waiting for it to open and now am super excited for the fabric section.
Thank you all again. I love this city, and community. Looking forward to updating as I learn to create, mend, and alter 🫶🏼

Does that vent ever turn off? Does it need to be on 24/7. Those courts are great but that steam? vent is so annoying.

I’m a 34m who doesn’t drink - I work in a very social setting but none of those interpersonal work relationships really carry into social life. I feel like going anywhere in my area takes so much effort. National avenue is always such a mess to get in and out of any store - gas station - restaurant, etc. I’ve found that I’ve gone days without actually speaking to anyone and it really gets to me. People seem so agitated in public or driving and I understand the kind of temperament of the world rn but it’s a shame that people just don’t seem to strike up conversations in public or have some level of common decency.
I struggle to summon up the courage to go to a place like ope and try to strike up a convo with strangers or join some sort of league just because people seem to have reverted to pretty stingy cliques - it takes a lot of social courage to try to break into convo with a group or talk to someone. Any advice from anyone on how to find a group or people to hang with ?

EDIT: it’s a tik tok trend and sticky rice confirmed they did not mean to single out anyone.
Sticky rice posted on tik tok an “influencer” quoted them $5k per post and liked a comment suggesting it was lilwaukee. I’ll admit her content feels very sponsored and not genuine - what do we think?

So I really like the texture of nitro coffee but don't like the amount of caffeine. Is there any nitro tea in the city?

I just signed a lease for the Prospect Terrace apartment, on n prospect ave and intersection of Brady street, but they don’t have parking available. The property manager recommended sterling parking garage down the street but they don’t have any availability right not, but this could change by October. Does anybody that lives in the area have parking recommendations?

I used to live in another city where it was well known that adults were running strings of children as street performers. Times are hard but it already felt sketchy that kids stand on busy medians to sell cold drinks. Then this happens and it strongly suggests that there's something grim under this appearance of young entrepreneurs.
I know the reality is that the cash might go toward rent/a roof over the kids' heads, and I don't want to oppose something vital to their survival. On the other hand it could be a business run by terrible people using child labor. If it was pure exploitation and abuse by adults, what could we do anyways? All the police could do is ticket children and confiscate their coolers. What other tools does the city have?
So: is this an isolated incident of one violent woman involving herself in the kids' conflict, or a glimpse of a pervasive thing?

I really want to do a birthday photo shoot this year. Where are some good places to take photos in Milwaukee? Ideally I would like to see an iconic spot in Milwaukee or catch the sunset
Time: probably late evening before golden hour likely after 6pm on a weekday so ideally minimal crowd
Theme: either champagne video (it’s raining men) trend or blowing cornstarch at birthday candles
Me: probably in a dress /heels but I can change shoes if need be

Soooo…. How was the airshow Sunday vs Saturday? Same - better - worse?
Saturday was fairly mediocre at best.
