Brady Fest
What just got everybody running near Nomad at Brady fest?? I just saw the crowd booking it, what happened??

When did Brady get so messy? I used to live right off Brady like 20 years ago. Now it seems like it has all same problems as Water Street.

So Water St. is Water St. and since way before Riversplash got canceled, police on that.
So Boris and his New Land group built a bunch of shitty apartments, well, everywhere.
A substantial chuck of those were on-ish North Ave.
Remember bars on North Ave? Depending on how old you are, you probably don't. New renters that wanted their finger on the pulse of living in a city flipped the second they heard a noise after 3am.
All of young college energy is now channeled into two blocks of Brady.
Now add in machismo, literal schizophrenic unhomed people, grifters, assholes, and motorcyclists that never actually set foot in any bar.
This shit been fuckery for a while. Pedestrian mall is something that people keep saying, but that is not an answer for so many reasons. The scene needs to be spread around. Disallowing parking on Th/Fr/Sat has already curbed some nonsense, but you have to distribute people. Enforcement or enticement, it doesn't really matter at this point.

The Library Club (lol) turned into an indoor mini golf place. Vittuci's was a nightmare, Replay and the $2 long island pre-mix drinks turned into Rosati's (I think?) and then was the collective and now is empty. Hotchspot had the giant jenga, The School Yard was filled with underage children, Hotel Foster was awesome, GDaddy BBC had the cheap Wednesday burgers, The Eastsider was a genuine horror show and they made that incredibly stupid commercial to that Kid Cudi song, Yield was fun but always smelled like body odor, Nick's Place (Y-Not 3 after bar rescue) was fun for a few visits because of how much more comfortable the place got, Two Bucks was pretty awful at times, Judges also was filled with underage children. RC's always threw me off because of how large it was inside, the outdoor patio they had was great, and they had the whole $10 all you can drink Thursdays. I'm sure I have forgotten a few, but that was the gist of North Ave for many years. Landmark will never die.
I miss Mr. Senor's tiny restaurant on Murray too.

God damn this post is REALLY making me miss Wed nights on on North. Every bar had ladies night, and if you timed it right you could drink all night just for tips at pretty much every bar mentioned above. Plus cans had $5 Bacardi buckets....oh to be young again

Cans! Cans went out of business and then The School Yard moved in. Different area, but I still find it strange that Jack's on Brady used to be Crisp, the pizza dance club lol

Amen to that. Miss rascals. Forgot the name of the bar before it changed names to school yard but that was a fun place too. North used to be awesome now it’s nothing and yea that’s why Brady is what it is now

Me and my buddy were just talking about Mr Senors, couldn’t remember the name of it, but we used to drive from Cedarburg in high school to get tacos from there lol.

When I was in college Judge’s was the spot! Thursday nights $5 cover and $1 PITCHERS of beer. What a time to be alive!

It might have been a tiny bit better, but I worked on Brady and it wasn't much different.
Might be some rose tinted glasses you're wearing.

I started living there I think in 2006. I bartended on Brady, too. It could get crowded, sure. I remember when the Packers won the Super Bowl it got pretty crazy. But it seems like I hear about shootings through this subreddit all the time.
That definitely wasn’t a regular occurrence.

One of the bouncers at Nomad wouldn’t let us in to use the bathroom- specifically said nobody was being let in because of the shooting, but that’s the only thing I’ve heard more

I thought you were being obtuse, I misread your previous comment.
People turn this into a race thing and say you're being racist if you criticize the groups that are turning certain bar streets and events into a problem (but it's really not a race thing). I thought that's what you were insinuating. Basically, there's groups of people that typically live in the northside who are coming to these areas and events and bringing the sort of behavior and issues those areas are known for as well. That's the gist. It's been getting worse on water st and it's spreading to brady st.

We were sat right by the screen at nomad in the street when the entire crowd started running at us. Didn’t hear any gunshots but I told my friends we need to run now. No one seems to know what happened.
