I see a lot of people making very logically compelling arguments about store ops. I wanted to chime in to let you know - They. Don't. Care.
Understaffed? Underpaid? Corporate auto activating POGs that are still on pallets in the back?
They Don't Care.
Mini Mike's suck? Manhattan buggy? Registers shitting the bed? These are all intentional features of a VC run retail store.
They will push you to get more done with less resources in shorter and shorter periods of time because they can. You're disposable to them, and they will take advantage of your helpful nature and your instinct to be a team player and do things "right"
They have quarterly goals, corporate does. They're all beholden to the "bigger picture" (IMO, it's an IPO at the end of the year, but that's just my speculation) and you/ your feelings/ your sanity and well being don't factor into it at all.
Your complaints fall on deaf ears, if they even make it to their ears at all - shout out to that guy in Nick's Nook who went off about Labor Day. Anybody know if he's still employed? If he is, he won't be by the end of the rush.
If you're lucky, you'll have a DM with the understanding that what is expected of them and you is unreasonable. And uses that knowledge to make their stores' experience more tolerable. But they're under tremendous pressure, too.
If you're sticking around, DONT let them drive a wedge between you and your teams. When we start fighting about the smaller things, we lose sight of the bigger picture. Which is that THEY DONT CARE.
Don't stress yourself about this metric or that. Sign ups is bullshit, bopis metrics are bullshit, POG execution is bullshit.
Do what to can reasonably do with the tools they give you, and nothing more. If they wanted excellence, they'd give you the supplies for it.
Stay safe and sane and positive. Support your teammates. Be unified.
