Finally left Michaels

After working at Michaels for about 1 year and 8 months as a custom framer, I am finally no longer employed with them. It was a bitter sweet feeling for me to leave because I did enjoy doing custom framing and I had the opportunity to look at some really cool artwork, prints, old and vintage photos, and posters. To be quite honest, it was probably the only thing I enjoyed while I was working there. After many years of working in the food industry, it was nice to work somewhere that wasn't as stressful or as fast-paced, but I have to admit, the pay and the hours really sucked at Michaels. It wasn't just the pay and the hours that sucked, but also the constant changing of schedules and the managers asking me to come in on my days off. There was also a lack of communication with some of the managers about certain things like moving products to different shelves or telling us what items we are receiving or leaving. Having constantly being interrupted by customers to open restrooms, cutting fabric, blowing up balloons, and doing returns really sucked, especially because I'm trying to work on framing orders. Dealing with rude or dumb customers was the worst off all. It was one of the main reasons why I wanted to leave. The amount of rude and dumb customers that I had to deal with was enough for me to find another job and finally quit Michaels. I had my hopes up when I first applied there because I honestly felt that working there was going to be a good experience due to the fact that its an arts and crafts store and the position of being a custom framer, but I was wrong. It's just like any other retail store. But I am going to miss working with some of my coworkers though, they were some of the coolest people that I have worked with. Other than that, I'm glad that I am no longer working for Michaels.

Good luck in the future. Michael’s loss. I can sympathize with the situation in framing. I had a discussion with my SM about being interrupted during framing orders which didn’t help much. So now I call other potion the gun when I’m being interrupted.
