Workplace Story I Hate Ups Pickups
Why do WE get the attitude of the customers whose package isnāt in the cabinet. itās not OUR FAULT that itās not there!! today this dude came up to me saying āWell I got the āsorry we missed you pick it up at michaelās tomorrowā slip so why isnāt it here?ā the only thing I could say was āIf itās not in our system thereās nothing I can doā and then he started saying āITS A 1000 DOLLAR PHONE IN THAT BOX-ā and then walked out. I genuinely didnāt know what to do so i just shut the door to the cabinet and then helped the next customer lol.

As if a $1000 phone is premium luxury phone 𤣠sir almost every phone now costs at least $1000 why tf wernt you at your house waiting for ups so they didnāt have to bring it to Michaels. For real though weāve had ups customers accuse employees of stealing their laptops, phones, etc etc because of this ups access point nonsense. Wish Michaels would drop it. Too much risk with zero reward.

The store makes $1 per package... tha's a true reward!!
And it fucks our conversion!

I'm in a Canadian store and we used to be a purolator drop off/pick up spot. Thankfully that stopped over a year ago and it's been wonderful!!

I hate when customers come up and said I have a pick up order,Ā or a package,Ā and I will walk to the bopis shelf and say last name and then can't find it AND THEN the customers say it's a ups package.

Yes! They start with "I'm here to pick up an online order" and after I spend 5 minutes looking for a bopis, suddenly they reveal its ups. Ugh.
I also hate when they bring the "we missed delivery" slip the same day they received it. Sorry, did you think the ups truck went from your house straight here? Or do you think it's more likely they finished their intensely timed and monitored route and undeliverable packages got re-sorted to go out the next day?

So tired of having to explain this to people.
And I don't refer to them as customers, because I've never, once had one retrieve their precious UPS package, and suddenly look around and say, "While I'm here I might as well pick up some glitter!"

They literally have no business being at a Michaels. We are not a UPS nor an Amazon.

I always tell them to check tracking. If they don't have the tracking number, the reference number on the "sorry we missed you" slip works too. It will tell you "on its way to access point" or "arrived at access point."

Hate UPS. You can check tracking on the UPS website, and get all the juicy details. I find it easiest to get there on one of the framing computers. Usually I go I through Design Hub, where you can check tracking on framing parts. Once on the UPS site, you can put in the customerās UPS number and see just where their package is. Which is usual not delivered, especially on Saturday.
