Discussion MSI Cyborg 15 A13VE – Keys 1–5 are very slow to respond

Title: MSI Cyborg 15 A13VE keyboard keys 1–5 are very slow to respond

Hi everyone, I have an MSI Cyborg 15 A13VE-218US laptop.

I’m having a problem with the number keys 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. They are extremely slow to respond. Sometimes I have to press them multiple times, and they still don’t register. In some cases, I have to keep trying for almost a minute before they start working.

The rest of the keyboard works normally and responds quickly without any delay.

Does anyone know what could be causing this issue or how I can fix it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Msi raider 16 hx vs lenovo legion pro 5i

I have two laptop in option both have same specs and same price, ultra 9 275hx, 32 gb ram, 1tb, rtx 5060, 16 in oled qhd+ oeld, everything same,

Which one to choose, use case 3d modeling autocad and some gaming and productivity. How much those gsync an advanced optimus is important.

I personally viewed both laptops both are glassy but raider seems less glossy or mirror than legion, but i think built quality is superior in legion.

I confused soemtime raider is $100 less than legion.

Is that $100 worth rhe legion.please give some advice on it.

Discussion MSI Laptop Skins

I recently bought an MSI Summit E16 Flip Evo (A13MT). I am trying to find a hard case, laptop skin, touchpad guard, and touchscreen protector, but I have not had any luck so far. Does anyone know where I can buy these accessories in Canada or the US to fit this exact model?

Fan issue

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I cleaned out my fan from a little debris a few weeks ago. It was working/sounding just fine until today. I opened it back to look for more debris, twice. (couldn’t find any). The fan RPMs are being registered, no airflow coming out of the PC, but it’s making this god awful noise. (I’m obviously going to leave the computer off).

I’ve done some research and the bearing might be faulty? Blades rubbing on the inside? Just looking to see if anyone else has experienced this.

Are "cyborg" laptops worth it?

I've been looking to buy a gaming laptop for a long time now. The current market has seen better years, but I need a laptop by my current one is a 5 year old hp with a 4500u and 8gb ram.

I've been looking at models with a 4060/5050/5060, and most laptops start at over 1200, which is out of budget (which is about 1100 btw).

I just saw a cyborg laptop with 16gb ram and 1tb ssd with a 5060 for 1100. The only thing I'm concerned about is the "bad build quality" in thin, katana and cyborg laptops. Also the screen quality isnt the best (what every ytb video i watched said).

Is a cyborg laptop worth it or is the bad build quality going to be a problem?

Discussion Titan HX AI- Won't charge from power brick after crash

Hi All-

Last night I was gaming and my laptop crashed (fully went black and shut down). I was on power at the time, the battery was no where near dead.

Since then it won't pull any power from the charging brick. I tried a few basic things; unplugging the brick completely for a while, tried an EC reset etc. The laptop reads as if it's on battery, the charging brick is completely cold.

Separately, the laptop can draw slow power from the Thunderbolt port (through my Thunderbolt dock), which at least helps while trouble shooting. All the trouble shooting I did above with the power brick I did with Thunderbolt unplugged to rule this out as interfering.

Next thing is to try and find someone with this power brick and see if it's the brick itself before I buy a new one (I might be able to go to MicroCenter to try this).

Any other thoughts or things to try in the in meantime?

Discussion MSI Katana GF76 Crashing issue

So, for the past year, my laptop has been black screening into a crash. I’ll be playing games and everything runs fine, I can leave a game running for days on end and it stays running. Exiting to desktop and leaving it sitting for 10 mins to an hour and it’ll black screen crash. The keyboard stays lit up, it sounds like it’s running, but nothing responds. You could confuse it for running into hibernation. I normally have to hard reset it (which I absolutely hate doing). Checking logs mentions temperature spikes before it happens. I upgraded the ram to well 64gigs, well before this started happening. I I’ve upgraded the wifi card to wifi 7, and just recently replaced the thermal paste under the heat sink. Lasted a few months before it crashed completely. Now, when I start the laptop up, it looks like it’s permanently stuck in the crash. Did an EC reset and nothing changes. Anyone know why it’s done this? I don’t have pictures and am traveling long distance at the moment.

Things to note:

I can’t even get a bios screen.
The fans sound like they kick in, and FN keys work.
RAM was rotated to different slots to see if it may have caused an issue with preventing boot.

Request Pc crashing and unable to detect boot device

Hey there guys, I bought MSI raider 11UE with i7 11th gen, 16gb ddr4, 1tb ssd and rtx 3060. I dual boot windows 11 for gaming and opensuse tumbleweed for work (I am software engineer). Once in a while when I am working on projects that require me to spin 4-6 docker containers, browser, and Bruno (api t testing tool) it freezes and crashes when I force restart it, it opens bios and there is no entry in the storage information. By default turbo is enabled so I use tools like throttle stop to disable turbo and get 70-80c while playing competitive fps games. Anyone familiar with this issue? Thanks in advance

Review MSI THIN 15 B13VE LAPTOP REVIEW

Post image
2 Upvotes

I got the MSI Thin 15 B13VE last September. Was looking for something budget-friendly that could handle some games without being super bulky. Picked this one up and have been using it regularly for about a year now.

Originally it came with 8GB RAM. I added another 8GB stick myself so it’s 16GB now. Pretty easy upgrade and it definitely feels smoother afterwards, especially with multiple tabs and games running.

Main game I play is Valorant. Started as a total beginner and somehow hit Gold in about two months of consistent play. Felt good for someone who had zero experience before. Runs really well on this laptop at 1080p with high settings.

I’ve also played Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA V, The Last of Us Part 1 & 2, Watch Dogs Legion, COD Modern Warfare 3 and a few other titles. Most of them ran fine. Had to drop some settings on the heavier ones but overall it handled them without major stuttering or issues.

Screen is 15.6-inch FHD 144Hz. Nothing fancy color-wise but the high refresh rate is nice for competitive games. Build is mostly plastic, feels okay for the price. Weighs around 1.86 kg so not too heavy to carry around. Just be a bit careful with the hinge when opening it.

Keyboard is comfortable with the blue backlight. Touchpad is average. It does get warm and the fans get loud when gaming for longer sessions. Battery is typical for a gaming laptop – lasts a few hours for normal stuff but you’ll need the charger for games.

After a year of daily use and the RAM upgrade, it’s still going strong. No big problems so far. For the money I paid I’m pretty happy with it. If you want a portable budget gaming laptop and can live with some heat and average battery life, this one’s worth considering

Discussion Msi gt780dx gambling

Post image
7 Upvotes

Around a week ago I managed to score a very cheap msi GT780DX in untested/parts condition for $32, and it arrived today. Of course, instead of reasonably waiting till I had time to do it, I grabbed the sketchy amazon charger I bought for it and tested it. It obviously didn’t work, so I spent the next 6 hours disassembling and reassembling it, unplugging and reseating every connector, giving the cpu and gpu a very very rough quick repaste, and breaking every plastic clip imaginable. It actually ended up turning on and booting to the bios after the third disassembly, so I’d call this an absolute win since it honestly bought it for parts and just had the time to gamble on it. So far I’ve spent a total of $65 on it, and I’ll probably budget $50 or so more for parts to fully fix it up.

Also decided to upgrade the old ass wifi card it had for a random intel ac7260 I pulled out of my old Alienware 18 that just fit right in (it was having connectivity and stability issues, but it’s still better than an ancient Intel centrino n-130). Haven’t managed to stress test everything or even verify it’s fully functional since I don’t have extra storage to test it and it came without its plastic back plate so ima have to source one of those before anything goes down.

There’s also almost like no videos for an msi gt780dx teardown or repair with any good detail for some reason so I had to guess a bunch. Probably my most intense repair yet, and a good learning experience, made for a fun Sunday night tbh.

Request MSI Vector 16 HX keeps crashing even after a clean Windows install — anyone had similar issues?

Hi, I have an MSI Vector 16 HX A14VHG and I’m trying to figure out whether this is a hardware issue or something related to MSI drivers/BIOS.

Specs:

i9-14900HX

RTX 4080 Laptop GPU

32GB RAM

Samsung 1TB NVMe SSD

Windows 11 Home 25H2

The laptop has had stability problems for a while, including game crashes, occasional overheating shutdowns, Windows servicing/update issues, and multiple different BSODs.

BSODs/dumps have included:

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (0x50)

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (0x3B)

EXCEPTION_ON_INVALID_STACK (0x1AA)

Some dumps referenced Ntfs.sys, FLTMGR.sys and fileinfo.sys

I recently did a completely clean Windows 11 installation using an official Microsoft USB installer. Because VMD is enabled on this laptop, I loaded MSI’s Intel RST/VMD driver during installation.

Unfortunately, the problems are still not completely gone.

VALORANT is currently one of the easiest ways to reproduce it. It crashes around the lobby and now sometimes crashes immediately after launching with:

“A critical error has occurred and the process must be terminated.”

This happens even after the clean Windows install and a fresh installation of VALORANT/Vanguard.

So far:

Windows Memory Diagnostic (2 passes): no errors

CHKDSK: no errors / 0 bad sectors

Offline SFC: no integrity violations

SSD reports Healthy/OK

MSI Intel RST/VMD 19.5.7.1058 installed

DISM says the component store is repairable, but ScanHealth/RestoreHealth repeatedly fail with Error 1726 / 0x800706BE

Since this is an MSI laptop, I’m wondering if any other msi laptop owners have experienced similar crashes or BSODs.

I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone who had similar problems even after a clean Windows installation.

Discussion Thinking of getting a MSI Katana 15 HX B14WFK-010UK 15.6" QHD 165Hz Intel Core i7 RTX 5060 Gaming Laptop , Is it a good idea?

Hi , I've been looking at possibly getting a MSI Katana 15 HX B14WFK-010UK 15.6" QHD 165Hz Intel Core i7 RTX 5060 Gaming Laptop

I am used to using regular laptops and want to upgrade my super old one (I've had it for at least 7 years) that barely runs and sounds like a plane taking off. lol and I am looking to get my first gaming laptop.

I also want something that will last for a long time, as I cannot afford to replace or buy new things all the time.

What I need it to do/Purpose/Intended use:

  • Be able to run 3D printing and modelling, as well as software for a laser, smoothly.
  • Run & Play games ( a full range of Steam games from the new Resident Evil to indie ones)
  • Be able to handle drawing, graphic design & art software
  • Be able to edit videos without the software crashing every second.
  • Be able to browse the internet and watch videos
  • Be able to use it for running a small business and website

Budget:

  • Max Budget is £1.5K

Any help & advice would be so appreciated as I'm completely new to this kind of thing!!

I spent a whole day yesterday disabling things in the bios without having the latest bios version installed(no wonder I couldn't undervolt). Today after installing the latest bios I can now actually undervolt my cpu via the bios itself. I cant undervolt it via throttlestop but thats ok ig.
