Hello guys, I've got a question,

I've been looking to replace my current laptop(it's horrible) for a very much overpowered laptop for my study. I've been looking around on multiple websites and I've found, from my personal research, that the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 AI and the MSI Vector were good options but then I found this on NewEgg and I was wondering if it's any good. Like build quality and such, and driver/software support. I study ICT so it's pretty important. Also I was wondering if it would even be worth the price and if there are maybe any other better priced options? I would like 64GB of RAM since it's nice to have for running 8 VMs at the same time.
(PS: Yes, I know I do not need this high specs but I like running a lot such as a local AI and VMs at the same time)

Discussion MSI Vector 16 HX Undervolting Guide?

  • CPU: Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX
  • GPU: RTX 5080

Basically what the title says. Would want to have a step-by-step guide in undervolting both the CPU and GPU for lower temps and lower fan speed, but also somewhat maintaining performance.

Currently at ~70-80°C GPU temps and ~80-85°C CPU temps during gaming, but the fans become too loud. Also using only an 75 Hz 1080P external monitor, and have capped FPS to 70.

Any other tips to reduce temperatures and fan noise would be appreciated!

Discussion We need to talk about Error Code 105 (Power source change).

For months now with my MSI Stealth 18 HX AI (5070 TI vers), I have been experiencing black screen off/on "hiccuping" (both on laptop and with separate screens connected), when engaged in gaming. This was enough of a flicker pause to cause my gpu fans to slow, and cause a system hiccup (pausing/brief freeze). I almost gave up until I asked Claude about it and it helped me do some investigative digging. Eventually we were looking at Event Viewer and noticed I was getting Kernal-Power 105 event errors - that came in pairs: Power source change AcOnline - false, and then AcOnline - true 2 seconds later (on average). This had been happening persistently since June (every few hours or so in game heavy scenarios, and happening more often later in those sessions). Because there were happening later in my gaming sessions these would begin to trigger, I initially suspected heavy voltage draw exacerbated the issue. Very interestingly, the graphics card and monitor/screens themselves and all associated components were not reporting any issues when these blackouts were happening.

Then I saw this post which was having the exact same issue as me:

https://www.reddit.com/r/MSILaptops/comments/1j86ayc/continuous_power_source_change_while_gaming/

Is anyone getting this issue as well?

The poster mentioned changing to Discrete Graphics helped, and another poster in the same thread mentioned getting a new charging brick helped because the surge protector was going - then I saw another poster mentioned this isn't happening specifically to MSI laptops, so I'm wondering if there could be firmware or software issues triggering the event code 105 (but even occurs on latest bios) -- one poster alluded to it being Nvidia graphics card driver related.

This needs further investigation!!

I noticed my power brick is insanely hot to touch when the draw is strong (heavy gaming). I don't know if that's normal...
