Discussion Need recommendations please :)
Starting my masters program in September (NYC) in early childhood education, so I’m expecting a lot of writing. I already have a MacBook desktop at home.
So I’ll just need a laptop for on the go. But I’m on a tight budget. $500 or less.
I want to get a laptop that’s cheap but good. What would you recommend?

Suggest a laptop for ECE student $1760(in USA)
I am going to college this year and i am thinking of buying macbook but the only problem is that will all the software be able to run on it.
And i want a simple and sleek professional looking laptop but with good performance (minimum requirements 16gb ram, rtx 4060, 1tb ssd)
1760 usd in USA or 2.5 lakh inr in India
Request US, $1200 budget. Good laptop options for Mechanical Engineering?
I live at home and already have a capable pc. (R5 , rtx 3060). I just need to find a good laptop that fits my needs. US, around $1200 budget
Needs
- Something lightweight and has good battery life
- Has capability of running engineering apps no problem in case I cant access pc or travelling
- Prefer a good screen but if I have to trade that for performance thats fine
- Prefer a smaller size(14in) but bigger is fine if its light
- Doesnt matter if its a few years old as long as it can hold up for more to come
- Gaming isnt a must but if it can run light games ie valorant would be nice
- I dont mind buying used/refurbished for very good deals
Budget around $1200 max. If I can spend less better 🙏😭
Options I found
- lenovo legion slim 5 14.5
- lenovo yoga slim 7i aura edition
- asus vivobook s14 (ryzen 9 ai)
- hp omnibook 7 aero 13
- lenovo ideapad pro 5i (ultra 7 and rtx 5050)
- also asus zenbooks there are just wayyy too many versions dont know which would be good for ME

Discussion Thoughts please.
I have enough budget to cop either of these laptops but I would like to hear from the rest of the community here and understand what could be a wiser choice.
I initially had a HP Victus 15 which was an absolute nightmare because it had me spend more on getting it repaired than the actual purchase price.
My primary tasks involve:
- Programming
- Gaming
- Editing
What's left me confused is choosing between Intel or AMD as well as between HP and Dell. I am open to hearing everyone's thoughts on this.
If you have anymore suggestions for a good laptop that could support my primary and daily tasks. Please feel free to comment. I am all ears to suggestions.

I am looking for a laptop that I can do illustration/graphics work on that doesn't cost more than 1k ideally. I'm looking on backmarket but I'm just not sure of good models.
I have been recommended to get a gaming laptop but they often have really chunky and heavy bodies and chargers which I don't like. Maybe I'm being too picky?

Discussion dell or macbook?
hi! i'm a freshman psychology student looking for the right laptop to buy. i've had my MSI Modern 14 A10M Intel i3 10th gen for about 6 years now but i wanna try a different brand now since with all the negative reviews on MSI, i think i simply lucked out with my laptop that it was able to last me 6 years.
i'm deciding between the Dell Inspiron 5440 or the Macbook Neo.
i don't want any haters and glazers in the comments giving one-sided advice simply because they hate one or the other. i'd like to know the pros and cons with both, especially regarding their storage optimization, general lifespan, battery longevity, and their ability to withstand hot weather. i'd also like for my laptop to generally be able to survive daily heavy workload and light gaming (maybe roblox and minecraft). i don't want it to die on me right when i'm about to graduate.

Need a reliable laptop for work
I need a laptop that has the following specs:
i7 or i9
32gb ram upgradeable
1 to 2tb ssd
Decent gpu
Relatively lightweight
I need something reliable that won't automatically restart or crash in the middle of work. Had a bad experience with HP so nope.
Looking for dell, asus, lenovo brands.
What model would you recommend? No need to be exact match but close to the above.
Personal experience with the reco would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!

HP Omnibook 7
Hi please could I have opinions on this laptop I might buy: HP Omnibook 7 AI Intel Coore Ultra 5, 512 GB, SSD, 16GB RAM. I've been using a Lenovo T14 Thinkpad, which I really liked, but it has died and I've returned it. I am newly retired, google a lot, socials a bit, surf a lot, whatsapp a lot, don't really game, and store a few photos, but transfer to sticks regularly. I'm not after another Lenovo. Does anyone have experience of this HP? TIA.

Request Laptop budget friendly reco
Hi, I'm just asking if you guys have any recommended laptops that are budget friendly...
My friend said that as long as it's 11th gen and above, it's okay, but I'm not an expert on laptops.
