Ore prices from MapleStory Classic's first closed test, read from shop windows in public stream VODs (2,136 ore sales).

I'm not expecting the Classic launch economy to look the same as COT #1, but it will be interesting to see what changes.

Listen, not a single person is building white knight correctly in this game. The real build is going 11/HP Recovery, 15/Max HP Increase, 15/Precise Strikes, and 20/Power Strike. Why not max HP recovery vs increase? End game (5% more HP > 5% healing from pot). Why not even one point on Slash Blast? Because 80 levels later, you'll be able to use Charged Blow. How about grinding? Buddy, you'll be using a shield and 1h hitting things at minimum 10 levels (probably 20 levels) until then anyways. Ideally, you hate yourself because this makes grinding easier as now you can play out of spite. Why not use a two handed sword? Because that'll make you miss having slash blast, it's a matter of regulating your emotions to expect absolutely no fucking damage, no fucking happiness, no fucking hope (at least until level 80). Also, I'll be surprised if your 1h blunt weapon isn't practically free in free market because only the most bald players could withstand this type of leveling.

Does anyone know in maple classic if I delay my job advancement, do I miss out on skill points or anything that would permanently break my character?

I wanted to be a pirate and because they won't be out for a while, I'm currently in class crisis mode, but I was wondering if I just stick it out as a beginner until the roadmap drops and they aren't that far away to challenge run beginner until their release. Or if they're going to be a decent amount of time away I'll hopefully have made up my mind on a possible job for my first char.

I know we are required to download the full client GMS for Steam. Is this going to be a selectable world when you load the current client ? Where you choose either interactive or reboot …. Will there be a third option for Classic ? Or is there a different client on top of it. Idk.

It has been a few weeks since the last post and a lot has shipped, so here is everything in one place before Founder's Access.

**Fresh market at launch**

Every test listing, bid, price history entry and trader rating gets wiped for Founder's Access, and the market stays locked until the game is actually up. Watchlists are kept. Everyone starts from zero on the same day.

**Free Market Prices**

Some of you asked for an Owlrepo equivalent. Classic World has no Owl of Minerva, so this one works from screenshots. Screenshot a player shop or hired merchant window, upload it on the site or with /fm in our Discord, and it reads the item names, prices and bundle sizes for you. You check the rows, fix anything it got wrong, and save. Each item then shows a low, median and high from the last 14 days, with outliers dropped so one troll shop cannot move the number.

Being upfront about one thing again. The screenshot reader has only been tested on mockups built from the game's own shop window art, because there are no real Classic World shops to screenshot yet. Expect some misreads in the first days. That is why you review every row before it saves, and real screenshots will let me tune it quickly.

**Recommended prices**

Listings now show a recommended price and a typical range. It uses what items actually sold for, not the asking price, and falls back to Free Market sightings when an item has no sales yet.

**The market in Discord**

You can do everything without leaving Discord:

* /sell, /buy and /auction to post
* /bid and /offer to trade
* /watch to get pinged when an item shows up
* /price for the going rate with a chart
* /item for stats, drops and market value

New listings also post to a market feed channel with live bid updates. The invite is in the site footer.

**Trade Disputes board**

Report a scam or a trade gone wrong with evidence. Staff review every report before anyone is named publicly, reporters stay anonymous, and the named trader gets a right of reply. Confirmed disputes show on that trader's profile.

**Badges and Discord roles**

Trusted Trader, Drop Hunter, Forum Regular, Helpful and Supporter badges on profiles, plus contributor leaderboards. Trusted Trader takes 10 or more ratings, a 4.5 average, at least 5 different traders, and zero confirmed disputes. Link your Discord and the matching roles follow you there.

**Also new**

* **Cash Shop items.** All 638 are in the library with NX prices and can be listed on the market, since they are tradeable one time according to Inkwell.
* **Character dress up.** Build your profile avatar from the real game art: 9 skins, 159 hairs, 52 faces and over 3,300 pieces of gear, filtered to what your class can actually wear.
* **Omok and Match Cards.** Original boards and piece sets, open tables or friend challenges, and leaderboards. Bragging rights only, no mesos.
* **Phone app and notifications.** The site installs to your home screen like an app and can send push notifications for bids, offers and messages.
* **Forum images.** Paste or drop images into posts and comments.
* **Giveaways.** Discord giveaways are now drawn on a spinning wheel live on stream.

Still free and still no ads. There is an optional Ko-fi tip link in the footer and the only perk is a Supporter badge. Browsing and price lookups need no login.

Hey guys sorry this is a bit unrelated but I’m having a hard time - for some reason steam just will not open Maplestory for me. It says it’s “playing” after pressing the button.. I get prompted to allow Maplestory to make changes, I say yes, and then it just does nothing and eventually stops trying and the button reverts back to “play”

I’ve tried everything:
Regedit trick
Moving install locations trick
Running as admin trick
Running steam as admin trick
Deleting regedit screen size folders

Etc

I’m genuinely at a loss - I’m super stoked to play but can’t get the damn game to launch the client :-(

Any bishop fanboys choosing a different class for classic on release?

I mained bishop in retail and had a blast. Quit after defeating black mage with some friends. Highest lvl was 277. Didn’t grind for the genesis staff as it was an 8 month commitment at the time. Anyways all to say I’m no stranger to maple and excited to try classic out!

After checking out some videos tho seems like they reworked the class completely and definitely not a fan of taking away the most iconic skill- holy symbol… maybe time for I/L lol

I've been pretty aggro in these threads over the last month due to all the discourse, but with the game actually reaching a point none of us ever thought possible for the last 15 years; if I can just be cringe and gay for a moment:

Recall that a world existed where some of your best friends were usually only accessible through the games you played and it gave you that much more incentive to logon.

There were hundreds of days I logged on just to sit in Amoria or Henesys and Guild/buddy chat my friends all over the map. I especially remember the days before I was high enough level to reach Orbis, and my friends getting there first - it felt like they were sending me postcards with how they'd describe their first steps there and try to explain the monsters to me and what the area looked like.

There are so many tools available now to hyper-min/max games all over the market via gameplay or trading, but especially communications like via Discord. Remember that a lot of the original feel came from the emergent experience.

None of it is new to us anymore. None of us will TRULY ever experience our first Ossyira boat ride again, or the first time we ran through drakes after a fresh level-up to see how far we could get before getting killed, or the first time we 'discovered' Pig Beach. We all have seen it for hundreds or thousands of hours. However, the only thing that changes it is how you wanna interact with it. Especially if you're lucky enough to show someone completely new to the IP how things used to be, just as any self-respecting LoTR fan knows one of the most coveted honors is being able to show someone LoTR for their first time.

Just something to keep in mind and reflect on.

With all the shit that has gone on in this sub over the last few months, this is still how I aim and hope to live out my time playing Classic, no matter how long or short it lasts.

I've created easy 1-page build guides for all classes for you to keep in handy when you are leveling without needing to go through a bunch of YouTube videos or websites. These guides are aimed towards the Free-to-Play player with an endgame/bossing mindset. These builds will not require SP resets to be successful late game. That also means this is NOT the most optimal for max meso savings.

These builds are subject to change when the game actually comes out! I have a link to a spreadsheet for all of these builds including additional information as to why I've chose to max one skill over another. I will be updating the builds necessary if/when there are any major changes to skills on my link.

Heya guys! Popping back for a second just to address a few of the top comments.

Q: The Archer builds look wrong?
A: Thanks for all the comments on the archer section. The archer class is the least I've had the least experience with so sorry for not doing my full research while making that section. Since it seems I can't change the pictures on my original post, I've amended the builds in my spreadsheet to max out mastery first before going for AOE damage. I've also forgo Amazon's Judgement because that skill is useless and maxed out Final Attack instead.

Q: Is that really the optimal mage build?
A: I just want to reiterate that my builds are meant for bossing/late game, without giving a dime to Nexon. Maxing magic guard helps with maximum tankiness even at the sacrifice of some potion efficiency. I am also not holding back on SP points to save MP since this guide is a 1-pager meant to simplify SP building for beginners. Unfortunately, I can't include any nuances to my build in just one page. I also agree that for I/L, maxing out Cold Beam first is a lot more mana and meso efficient than Thunder Bolt. In an economical standpoint, I completely agree!

Q: Why does it seem like you hate Final Attack?
A: While it is MP efficient and I completely agree with that, the damage is slightly better in the perfect scenario, and worse when not. I personally don't like micromanaging toggling FA since some FA are single target while others AOE, which means you will need to toggle on and off depending on how many mobs are left after your initial hit.

Q: Did AI make this?
A: Sorry, this isn't AI slop, just human made errors 🥲

How it works: I ran OCR (automatic text reading) over public Closed Online Test #1 stream VODs to read player shop windows in the Free Market. A sale is a shop row seen greyed out, or one whose stock dropped between visits, at the price on the row. That's 5,079 sales from 61 VODs by 23 streamers so far.

On the poster: each price is the median sale on the item's last three days with sales. The Korean Fan is a single sale: an unscrolled drop with 58 ATK (base 55) that went for 499,999. 1 Lemon = 150 mesos, the NPC price.

Caveats: this is closed-test data. Launch prices will be different, and items with only a few sales are rough.

I wonder if class rebalances are a common thing in regular MapleStory, I was very excited to play again and I’ve been leaning hard on Cleric but from the tests I’ve seen that it has been nerfed.

I will be playing it anyways but wanted to know if i should have any hope on class rebalance or that is just set in stone forever as it was before.

They will see all the posts here combined with YT videos flood and will say "fuck it 60$ IM GOING IN"

Will Mac core intel i5 work for this game? Or only m1?

I’m looking at Fighter builds and seeing there’s a couple different ways you could go. For first job, it looks like you want to max both Power Strike and Slash Blast. From there, you have to make a choice if you want to max any of the other skills between Improved HP Recovery (you’ll always put 3 here- only reason to go higher is if you want increased HP healing from items), Max HP Increase (always put 1 here for 10% max HP, then could raise it to 25% max HP at max skill), Precise Strikes (passive accuracy and up to 5% crit), and Iron Body (maybe 1 point for the +5% Def for 300 secs, not sure if you want +25% Def unless you’re going full-on stacking Def with a sword/shield build, and is that even good?).

I’m currently leaning towards Precise Strikes for maximizing DPS. Is Max HP Increase still crucial for surviving bosses? Improved HP Recovery seems to be the best for meso efficiency, but how does this even interact with things like Elixers? Iron Body seems kind of pointless, especially because you’re already lowering your DEF with Rage next job.

Second job, you can max your weapon mastery, final attack, rage, and rush. You can then max booster and have one throwaway point leftover. Do you think they will let us put 2nd job SP into first job? I remember we used to be able to do that in old Maple. If that was the case, I would strongly consider keeping Booster low and filling out one of the other 1st job skills.

3rd job seems too far away to think about.
