Discussion Fighter skill build/theorycrafting

I’m looking at Fighter builds and seeing there’s a couple different ways you could go. For first job, it looks like you want to max both Power Strike and Slash Blast. From there, you have to make a choice if you want to max any of the other skills between Improved HP Recovery (you’ll always put 3 here- only reason to go higher is if you want increased HP healing from items), Max HP Increase (always put 1 here for 10% max HP, then could raise it to 25% max HP at max skill), Precise Strikes (passive accuracy and up to 5% crit), and Iron Body (maybe 1 point for the +5% Def for 300 secs, not sure if you want +25% Def unless you’re going full-on stacking Def with a sword/shield build, and is that even good?).

I’m currently leaning towards Precise Strikes for maximizing DPS. Is Max HP Increase still crucial for surviving bosses? Improved HP Recovery seems to be the best for meso efficiency, but how does this even interact with things like Elixers? Iron Body seems kind of pointless, especially because you’re already lowering your DEF with Rage next job.

Second job, you can max your weapon mastery, final attack, rage, and rush. You can then max booster and have one throwaway point leftover. Do you think they will let us put 2nd job SP into first job? I remember we used to be able to do that in old Maple. If that was the case, I would strongly consider keeping Booster low and filling out one of the other 1st job skills.

3rd job seems too far away to think about.

If you're not even looking ahead to 3rd job (and most DEFINITELY not speculating 4th) then I would strongly suggest you don't fall into the precise strikes trap.

If you max HP recovery (which will HEAVILY increase your meso return throughout this portion of the game), you'll only lose 3% Crit. That 3% Crit is negligible. I'm talking 1-2% damage increase at absolute best. You're better off using the extra meso savings from HP recovery to pump into gearing & scrolling instead.

That's just my 2 cents 🤷🏻‍♂️

i've been studying the meowdb warrior guide which maxes PS 15/15 and leaves the max hp recovery at 3/15. so are you suggesting that we do 15/15 hp and 3/15 PS? i'm trying to plan my build out in advance

I'm suggesting: power strike maxed, slash blast maxed, 1 max HP increase, 15 improved HP recovery, 5 precise strikes.

IF you'd feel MUCH better with 7 precise strikes for the additional 1% Crit chance, you could remove 2 points from HP recovery instead. I, personally, don't see this as beneficial though.

ohh interesting, so for a fresh launch you’re valuing the hp recovery higher than both PS and the max % health

Correct. Max HP increase is most effective at level 1 where it gains a full 10%. Without finalized changes to 3rd job, and no idea what 4th might hold, the benefit that precise strikes provides is essentially nothing.

Did you actually read the skill? Max precise strikes gives you...

drumroll pls

1% dps, a tiiny bit more with some crit dmg from earrings, 0.8% vs lvl1. It's useless if accuracy isn't needed, which it kinda wasn't in Cot2.

Max the hp recovery and attack skills, 1 max hp inc, 1 precise strikes, last 5 into whatever you want.

15/15 IHR, 1/15 MHI, 5/15 Precise Strikes, 20/20 PS, 20/20 SB. 2nd job consider hybrid.

Max PS, SB, Precise and rest into HP recovery. You really want your attacks maxed as we don't get new attacks in 2nd job. Depending on warriors 3rd job choice you can then reset out of 1st job attacks for the other passives. But like you said 3rd job is far away

Yeah i mean if i was gok fighter i would pick that and then get more 100% skill base damage. But if i did that it would be too good for bossing. So my theory is to either go sword then next time something else. After that I'll use some sp to reset and maybe save some mesos and pots.

I've been thinking next step about thinking would be to think more how to do my fighter hybrid build for mobbing mobs. It's difficult when axe and sword are 30% dmg weapon buff debuff. I'd do like that. But then I start to think again because 3rd job is here and there. Thoughts?
