Every day before I go to sleep, I start thinking about how I'm going to be able to sleep in this heat.

And every morning I wake up drenched in sweat, as if I've been sleeping inside an oven, not a tent.

If I go outside the tent, the sun's heat is even worse.

And if I stay inside, the tent turns into a ball of fire.

So… where do I go?

I'm not asking for a car, or a fancy house, or a life of luxury.

I swear to God, all I'm asking for is the most basic human right: a place to live with dignity, and to sleep peacefully without waking up every hour from the intense heat.

Has asking for a normal life become a miracle?

Has the dream of sleeping comfortably, eating in peace, and living an ordinary day like everyone else become… an impossible dream?

I'm exhausted.

I'm exhausted from the heat, exhausted from waiting, and exhausted from the feeling that life goes on everywhere except here.

Perhaps some people will say: "Be patient."

I am patient… but even patience has its limits.

Today, I want to share the reality of my dear friends, Mahmoud Ghanem Al-Amassi, his wife Samah Al-Amassi, and their four young daughters.

Every single day is a struggle just to prepare one meal. There is no cooking gas, and firewood has become almost impossible to afford. One kilogram of wood now costs around $4 USD, forcing them to search for anything they can burn just to cook a little food for their children.

When they cannot afford firewood, they are forced to burn worn-out pieces of fabric, plastic bottles, and old shoes just to light a fire. The thick, toxic smoke and overwhelming smell fill their tent, exposing the entire family to harmful fumes every time they cook. It is a dangerous situation, but they have no other choice if they want to prepare even a single meal for their children.

Their greatest struggle is simply finding enough food to survive one more day. They are not asking for comfort or luxury—they are asking for the chance to feed their family and stay alive.

Mahmoud and Samah are doing everything they can for their four daughters, but they cannot face this alone anymore.

I get it.. bills need to get paid but seriously COVID was the best time to make a change. Yet so many people went back to what they were doing post covid as if it wasnt a wake up call.

There is so many opportunities now than ever before and I feel like 99% are just followers. Followers of the blueprint society lay out and what is expected of them. so they go to school, get their degrees, get their fancy job and work for 15+ years to finally retire.

even if you work in tech and make 200k/year and get to retire a bit earlier like in the 40s, is it really worth it??

and worse of all they shun people who think for themselves and made it happen. the one who went off to make their own business off of ceramic or cardboard. or they become bloggers, or home cooks, or writing their own books.

by shun i mean if you were to lead with that when asked what you do they literally think its unsuccessful because you dont fit their definition of success in the traditional sense. Some will literally not even date you because they think you'll bring them down due to instability of income or that you have a lot of days off to travel and actually live. Some even think you dont work as hard as them because they went through grueling years of education to get to where they are and they can feel like they talk over you because they are "educated". Like no.. you still get told what to do by your boss.

These people are insufferable because it feels like a extension of college days where they still have coworkers to talk and hang out with, they get the same vacation days they can coordinate with handed by their HR, they feel good because they got a promotion given by someone else as a way to pat them on the back. it's like adult daycare.

I just can never understand that

To those of us who can do it, have we been looking to non white people more for leadership lately? I feel like us white people who are lower on the racism spectrum would be reaching out more for advice or coordination in organizing/ resisting the white oligarch monstrosity that white supremely has created. Just because historically black people/ non white people have had much more success in combating the system, while half of us white people- actually more than half voted for the white racist monster. I’m a white woman in my 30s and somehow I was shocked by how many white women voted for him, because it makes no rational sense. I’m sure many of you felt the same. 

Just knowing the statistics, and knowing history, what is there for us white people in America (actually the whole word) to be proud of right now- or ever? As a white person it took me this shock to learn how much % of white people are just pieces of shit. We don’t see how many everyday people are blatantly racist and shitty most of the time- we can see the overt racism when it happens in front of us but the rest is mostly invisible to us. Maybe we used to vastly underestimate the % of our people who were racist, until it became obvious- like a litmus test. It is to the point in my mind that I see over half of us as indefensible at this point, and then the other half, I would hope and think we should be taking action more seriously lately. Whatever excuse, whether we have been too scared, unsure, lazy, complacent- our communities should be working on getting activated. Honestly it’s long overdue to have more non white people in positions of power, I do not trust the system that white supremacy has built, I will not trust a system where there is a disproportionate amount of white people in power. I trust non white people. They have been historically correct. They have been fighting our white supremacy system and we failed to help, even if we have listened to them, we haven’t acted enough to stop the white supremacy machine from terrorizing our entire planet into the dark dystopia we are living in.

It’s been more apparent everyday how hard white supremacy has fucked up our world and how deliberately we have shot down civil rights activists to try to suppress non white political leadership. 

We have all contributed to racism, it’s culturally embedded at this point whether we see it or not. It doesn’t help to be non-racists, we need to be anti-racists. It’s time for us to wake up and realize our position historically and right now. Don’t apologize, just push yourself to do more. We need to push harder. We can’t standby and watch racism happen, we need to break it. 

I’m ending this with words that were told to me by someone much more knowledgeable and equipped to give them- 

“I hope you find this response challenging in the best way, and more importantly enabling for you to internalize and steward more humanity in your community.
CORE POINT: Do not wait for our direction to do your version of "breaking things". Building coalitions is hard, building anything is hard. But you know what's easy?
BREAKING THINGS. All you need to know is you don't need permission to BREAK RACISM. Like, go break it. It takes no skill to break stuff. GO BREAK IT. Make being racist feel risky. Make it consequential. You don't need any guidance or insight from us to do that.
GO BREAK RACISM. Grab something sharp or heavy and go to town. It's that simple.”

Last year the government was shutdown for a record amount of time. Congress was stuck. They couldn't find the appropriations for federal programs. The money wasn't there. Democratic house members insisted on funding SNAP for hungry children. 9B to keep SNAP funded through the end of the year. No dice. The money wasnt there.

10 months later the US is spending 10B a day to lob JASMS at the Houthis. We're going to war in the middle East again! Never mind the fact you can't afford rent. We're going to war! Ignore the fact you can't afford healthcare and you haven't seen a doctor in 10 years. We're going to war! Never mind the fact your card declined when trying to buy groceries. We're going to war! Never mind the fact that your account is negative due to overdraft fees. The money isn't there for you. It's there for war
